The speculation is actually more likely than not. That long ago, the sun emitted less radiance. The planet was likely earth-like at some past time. Someday, we will have the technology to explore the surface and see if there was past life and civilizations.

I doubt it. We cant even "get back" to the moon and it has been decades and within those decades are cell phones have become extremely capable of outshining anything nasa had at the time on the "moon landing".
