The former Texas governor would beat Cruz by 9 percentage points, according to the forthcoming survey from the Democratic-leaning firm Public Policy Polling. Set to be released later today, the poll found Perry would get 46 percent of the vote and Cruz 37 percent, with 18 percent saying they are not sure whom they would support.

Perry is the only challenger that PPP tested who would defeat Cruz.

The poll indicates he would trounce two other Republicans talked about as potential opponents, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (http://www.texastribune.org/directory/dan-patrick/) by 22 points and U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul (http://www.texastribune.org/directory/michael-mccaul/) by 32 points.

He would also beat two Democrats, U.S. Housing Secretary Julián Castro and former gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis (http://www.texastribune.org/directory/wendy-davis/), both by 12 points.

The monster turns on its creator.

Still, gotta hand one thing to cruz, he stood by principle after what was said about his family. I have a small amount of respect for him for that.

Then I think about the shitty things he does/says on a regular basis and that feeling goes away in a hurry.

I believe he thinks so highly of himself that he was sure a neophyte like Trump could not beat him. You know it absolutely kills him when a guy like Trump comes in and just steals his base. In that way he is just like Trump, they will hold grudges forever no matter what they say. Megalomaniacs do this.

lol you actually believe he was standing by principle? The dude has no principles other than career advancement. I'm surprised someone of your self proclaimed superior intellect wasn't able to recognized his self serving motives.

He would be wiser to say something that makes sense to English speakers.

Hmmm. A or B....
A) Well, he wasn't reading from a teleprompter. I used my superior intellect to recognized that, since I know how important that is to you.

B) LOL Snakeboy confusing intelligence with cynicism. You go with your bad self on that, and keep proving my point about intellectual rot on the right. Cynicism is lazy thinking, with a side order of smug elitism.

I am no Cruz fanboy, but I do allow for the possibility that someone I disagree with can have principles. Sure Cruz is seeking self advancement in all sorts of ways, I just don't think this was one of them. I have as much evidence for that though, as you do for your lazy cynicism.

+1

Petty and vindictive is Cruz in a nutshell. There is a reason he was/is so hated in the Senate. I am embarrassed for Texas.
