View Full Version : Red Dead Redemption HD Rumored To Be Announced Shortly for PC

An untold number of gamers have been craving for Red Dead Redemption HD, particularly on the PC platform which didn’t get to play this masterpiece so far.
Today, we have to register yet another rumor suggesting that the announcement is coming soon. Korean website Gamefocus.co.kr reported that Red Dead Redemption HD will be announced this week, probably at New York City’s PlayStation Meeting (where Sony is set to reveal the PlayStation 4 Neo and PlayStation 4 Slim).
According to Gamefocus, this “remastered” version of the game should be released early next year on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Of course, this is strictly a rumor for the moment being and we should not hastily run to conclusions.
That said, a couple of months ago the game became available on Xbox One via backwards compatibility and its sales immediately skyrocketed. This might have accelerated any plans Rockstar and Take-Two already had for a remaster.
Furthermore, Red Dead Redemption HD could be a great way to reignite interest in the franchise, which Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick always described as a permanent one. Just five months ago, a rather credible leak brought us the possible in-game map of Red Dead Redemption 2 and it would make perfect sense to set the stage for the upcoming sequel by re-releasing the first game.
As a reminder, Red Dead Redemption is the second franchise installment after Red Dead Revolver. The game, first released in May 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, is set in 1911 during the decline of the American Frontier. Main character John Marston is separated from his wife and son by the FBI, who force Marston to apprehend three of his former gang members in order to reunite with his family.
On October 2010, the standalone expansion Undead Nightmare was released. Both the base game and the expansion were highly praised and sold very well, which is why a sequel is considered basically inevitable.

Fuck that, even though the 45 FPS isn't all stuttery it's still not what I want. It's still much different when your target FPS is around 80, G-Sync or not

You're right, it took almost two years for GTA V to be released after the announcement. I didn't remember it being that long, I was thinking they announced it like 6 months before release.

Yeah, it'll be out a year later or so on PC. This is what Rockstar does. The only reason they didn't release RDR on PC is because the code was fucked and it was last gen. Now that the architecture is similar and they have sold 6M on PC (plus all the microtransactions in GTAV online,) there is no doubt it will come out at some point on PC.

God damn it fucking pissed me off when I dusted off my 360 and set it back up for the first time in two years and the fucking disc tray wouldn't open. Finally got that bitch open after a few minutes and got this shit installed, time to check it out and see if it lives up to all the hype.

Nope. I pretty much just played Skyrim, GTA V, and NBA 2k the last couple of years I used my 360 and was holding out for a PC remaster. But that shit ain't happening so might as well play it on 360. :lol

I'd be surprised, the game is 6 years old and this generation of consoles is 3 years old now. If they were going to do it they would have already. I just hope we get a PC port of RDR2, especially one as perfect as the GTA V port was (and not as shitty as the GTA IV port, though GTA IV was a horrible game anyways).

tbh, weird they didn't do a Master Race version of the 1st one... the XBox360 is basically a smaller NT kernel with DirectX 9/10... I suppose there's other technical reasons, like needing to redo all the textures in higher res or something like that. (unless there's some sort of exclusivity agreement with console makers).

Game is level based, not open world. Red is the main character but you also play as other characters in their respective levels. The gameplay is similar to Redemption just not as refined, you still use dead eye, there's a cover system, horse riding etc. but without a vast and detailed world to explore and interact with, i've never felt the urge to replay the game.
The game GUN was a better option in the western genre at the time, kinda like Redemption before Redemption.

I'm about 60% through RDR now, I just finished up the missions in Mexico. It's a pretty epic game, but I don't think I'd quite put it at the level of GTA V or GTA San Andreas. It's still one of the best games I have ever played though. I'm amazed it seems a lot more like GTA V than GTA IV since it was released two years after that abortion.
Speaking of GTA IV, I installed that shit on my PC for the LOLs and it runs at fucking 30-70 fps. :lol
I mean GTA V runs for me at fucking 60-100 fps and looks worlds better.
Damn I wish they would have made a remaster for RDR. That game is just begging for a 1080p or 4k remaster like GTA V. I can't imagine how awesome this game would be with 4k textures, Skyrim level god rays, and long ass draw distances.

Reminds me of Friday the 13th for Nintendo where you had to scramble to the next cabin (town in this case) to alleviate the threat quickly. It puts a sense of urgency and dread into the game especially when you're on foot.
