For instance in Mexico I believe Intel just introduced their Core 2 Duos while the Core 2 Quads are only for the richest Mexicans like El Chapo and Vicente Fernandez. The 97-98 Spurs were only there to be the rival team for the 97-98 Jazz last year. The microstutter last year was horrible at launch, I had to set a 60 fps frame cap in addition to the ingame vsync to get a smooth 60 fps.

The controls are too complicated, I don't like them at all. For instance passing is a bitch. You have different buttons for lob, bounce pass, and chest pass, but you can't do them if you're doing icon passing. So since icon passing is a normal chest pass it gets picked off way too often. It's hard to get used to not doing icon passing anymore after it being the standard for throwing the ball where you want since like Live 98. I feel like this series achieved perfection in NBA 2k8 when it was easy to run complicated plays that you could get into quickly and you still had lots of control when ballhandling or in the post.

Otherwise there have been epic fails like Quantum Break and Far Cry Primal and meh games like Doom and Mirror's Edge Cataylst. Though I guess XCom2, Overwatch, and Total War Warhammer are supposed to be excellent, but they're not the style of game I usually enjoy (eg open world RPGs/action RPGs, SP shooters, and 2D platformers). I thought 2015 was a much much stronger year with Witcher 3, GTA V, Fallout 4, AC Syndicate, Just Cause 3, and Phantom Pain. Though maybe Dishonored 2 and Mafia III might still save 2016. Easily still better than 2014 though when Dragon Age Inquisition and Far Cry 4 were the only great PC games (I hated Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor).

Quantum Break on Steam is a piece of shit. You need a GTX 1070 or better to play with a locked 60 fps at 1080p:

But that's not the whole story. Since this game was designed for piece of shit XBox One it has a dynamic framerate oscillating between 720p and 1080p. If you want to play at a locked 1080p resolution not even a fucking GTX 1080 can do it and maintain 60 fps.

Damn I expected to hate this game going in, but the first hour or so is pretty fucking good. I was cracking up seeing the actor who played Lt Daniels on The Wire at the very beginning of the game. I heard this game has live action filmed cutscenes so that's awesome that they hired such a good actor for them. You can pretty easily tell it's upscaled to 1080p when you have the scaling turned on, but the effects are pretty cool even running it at medium (so I can get a consistent 60 fps on my 970, it's not even close to 60 fps at high even with the dynamic resolution scaling). The 30 fps cutscenes are kind of annoying though. They look alright after you have made that 60->30 transition but that drop to 30 looks ugly as fuck right when it's happening. Gotta play this with a controller too, though I usually strongly prefer one anyways for third person games like Witcher 3, GTA series, Assassins Creed series, etc. I'm liking it much more than Doom so far.

If you want the video I think you might need Voksi's patch and the Skidrow demo (but don't copy the crack files in the Skidrow folder when installing, use Voksi's), and also you can't block the game in your firewall since the video is streamed. After playing through the first act I'm much less impressed by the video though.

We've experimented with settings, but can't push the game past 30.

We received Mafia 3 code this afternoon, and I've started work on the review. But I noticed that the controls felt kinda sluggish, before realising that, if my Fraps readings (and my eyes) are correct, the game is locked to 30fps.

I thought maybe my PC just couldn't handle it, so I shifted down 720p and the lowest graphics settings, but it was still locked to 30. I'm running a GTX 970, an i5-6600K overclocked to 4.5GHz, and 16GB of RAM, which should be more than enough. And it still happens when I disable the in-game vsync option.

So yeah, not great. Whether this is something that'll be fixed in a day one patch, or will be sorted via a forthcoming graphics driver update, remains to be seen, but as it stands it feels like Lincoln is trudging through sludge as I walk around the (very pretty) city of New Bordeaux. We've reached out to 2K to see what the deal is.

I just finished Quantum Break. It's a pretty solid game. By no means an instant classic like Dying Light, but the story is interesting and the action is good. I'd give it a grade of B- where I took off a full letter grade for the complete inability to turn graphics higher than medium without crippling framerate unlike you're running a 1070 or better.

Yeah it's Steam.. I'll take the safe route and pick it up on sale, I havent even finished the main game anyway.

I just tried the CODEX demo of Mafia III and the game looks surprisingly good at 30 fps. But man control sucks playing a game at 30 fps once you have gotten used to playing everything at 60 fps. Shit feels so unresponsive. This game is going to perform like a fucking dog too. I'm getting like 65-70% gpu usage on my 970 playing this shit at 1080p with all the settings on high. That's ridiculous to be having that high of gpu usage when it's only outputting 30 fps. By contrast I can play Witcher 3 on this gpu at 4k medium and I'm pulling around 30 fps, and Witcher 3 is way more graphically impressive.

Holy fuck, after the patch to unlock framerate I have to play this game at 1080p low to get 60 fps. And not a locked 60 fps, it dips into the 50s. With a fucking Xeon E3-1231v3 and a GTX 970. 1080p fucking low with a $250 CPU and a 2 year old GPU that cost $350. Even Arkham Knight wasn't this bad at launch, and that shit actually got pulled off the market for 3-4 months.
