1. Skyrim: This game is so huge and everything in it is top notch. I have done multiple playthroughs of this game both as sneak thieves using stealth and hack and slash types, and it works well either way. The soundtrack is probably the best I have heard in a game and I love the mountain setting, it's like playing in the Grand Tetons.
2. Dying Light: It feels like you're in a really grimy 70s B-movie and the hand to hand combat is so much fun. The game is really something on the violence factor, and if you get the DLC you get a really satisfying ending to the game.
3. Bioshock Infinite: I love the art style in this game, they really capture the setting of the early 1900s America. And then the way they tie quantum mechanics into the storyline is awesome. I love how Elizabeth is able to cause rips into other parallel universes to bring you cover for instance in fights. She is a great character too. It cracked me up hearing Cindy Lauper's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun being played on an organ at the beach and then in one of the rips in spacetime you hear the real song being played from a radio 85 years in the future. :lol
4. Witcher 3: Graphically this is as impressive as it gets right now. I love the lighting both indoors and outside. The third person fighting is a lot of fun and this game might have even more content than Skyrim. Lots of really interesting and well-written, well-acted characters. The Gwent minigame is a lot of fun too, definitely don't skip learning it.
5. GTA V: Los Santos has to be the most interesting city ever portrayed in a game. There is just so much to do in this game. Trevor is easily my favorite character in the series since Tommy Vercetti in Vice City. This game is hilarious, lol tattooing a penis on Lazlow or starting a mass shooting at a marine base when they insult you for being Canadian. It's also amazing graphically with responsive driving controls this time around, unlike GTA IV which was wrecked by the terrible driving.
Honorable mention: Far Cry 4, Portal 2, Firewatch, Tomb Raider 2013

Fallout New Vegas
Crysis
Rage
Far Cry 3
Dishonored
Max Payne 3
Borderlands 2
Portal 2
Rayman Origins
GTA V
Bioshock Infinite

The Last of Us probably left the biggest impression on me as far as storylines/characters go.
Witcher 3, Skyrim, and Dragon Age: Inquisition all delivered in different ways in the sword/magic genre I like so much.
GTA V and Fallout 4 are honorable mentions. You can throw Uncharted 2 in there also (older then five years I know, but the remastered isn't, and it was badass).

Crysis
You mean Crysis 3 or Crysis 1? I was really bored by Crysis 3 after the first two levels once the awe of the graphics wore off. Crysis 1 was a legendary game but that shit is from 2007 (though it still looks amazing graphically today).

GTA V - Best GTA game of the series (even better than my sentimental fav, Vice City). Great characters.
The Last of Us - Game was top notch in every way possible.
Deus Ex Human Revolution - Never actually played the original but was a fan of the Cyberpunk theme. Still a better ending than Mass Effect 3.
Walking Dead (Telltale) - One of the few games in the past 2 years that engaged me form a storyline perspective. Excellent series.
Max Payne 3 - First action game I had played in like 2 years. Took me back to the original.

That's the thing -- it's not the time commitment. W2 just feels like a grind to me. It's... fun, but it's not engaging. Love the characters in the game but it's so stilted by the control scheme that it's hard for me to play for more than 30 minutes at a time.

I haven't played Witcher 2 for more than 10 minutes so I can't comment, but the controls are awesome in Witcher 3 if you use a controller. I don't like it at all with mouse and keyboard though. I strongly prefer using my XBox 360 controller for any third person game.

So is The Last of Us good enough to justify buying a Playstation Pro? If I did I'd probably get that remaster, Uncharted 4, the God of War III remaster, and the new God of War. Damn I wish they'd release those games on PC so I could play them all at 60 fps. I hate the idea of buying a console just for four games.

I'm probably not paying $300 for that bullshit when the good version of PS4 comes out for $400 in a month and a half. Poorstation has an HD 7850 class gpu in it while Prostation has an RX 470 class one. It's like double the gpu horsepower in the new one.
http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-RX-470-vs-AMD-HD-7850/3640vs2182
I meant I might consider Poorstation if it dropped to like $180 or something. But it's hardly a bargain for the scrub version of the system at 75% the price of the modern version.
You can laugh at PC gamers for not playing The Last of Us, but I'll laugh right back at the console guys who didn't get to play Witcher 3 in its full glory. :lol

Dunno who's making patches for games yet, tbh, but having used the Pro for a couple of months now, it's nice.
There's not going to be exclusives for the Pro though (at least Sony has told devs they must support both for non VR stuff), so you'll get all the games regardless of what you buy.
But yeah, if I had to drop $300 now, I rather drop $400 in a little bit and get the Pro. (provided you have a 4k TV)

Nah I would be getting it to play at 1080p. You think it's a waste if you don't have a 4k TV or monitor? Poorstation seems like it has a lot of trouble delivering a steady 30 fps in some games, like Witcher 3 for example, so I'd be looking at Prostation for smoother framerates. Unless Poorstation gets dirt cheap and the new God of War plays smoothly on it.

Can't tell you about Witcher 3, but other stuff I've seen and played with, it's been really nice and smooth, like GTA V, 2K16, COD, etc. Nothing like the XLOL one. Also nothing like a GTX970/980 or newer, obviously, but not bad.
Furthermore, a few OS updates ago, they unlocked 7-cpu mode, which gives about 75% of an extra CPU core for game use (originally 2 cores out of the 8 were used strictly for the OS).
What you need to be aware of is that the console has two modes, normal and neo. As far as I've been able to tell, normal mode = compatibility mode, which means unpatched games will run with the non-pro timing on them, both on CPU and GPU. The bus speed being faster will matter though, because that's the main gripe with the PS4. While it's nice that the RAM can be accessed from the CPU and GPU, through two different buses (write-back and write-combining), bandwidth has always been the biggest slowdown. There's also a few other notable differences in memory management (the neo/pro will allow you to allocate over 4GB of continuous virtual memory, which the non-pro didn't allow), but if you're running unpatched games, it won't matter.
That said, I suspect the OS will also take advantage of the extra cycles for features like net play and game recording, so it might still provide a smoother performance, but only patched games that support neo mode (whether they run 1080p or 4k) can unlock the entire extra processing power for games.
I mean, even if you don't have a 4k tv right now, I'm sure you eventually will, and for the extra $100 you do get a bit more future proof console.

If your desktop pc has a decent cpu (eg i5, i7, or Xeon E3 from 2011 or later) you can use the PCSX2 emulator to play the first two games. They're both amazing, and they look better than on the real PS2 since PCSX2 can easily play them in 1080p if you have enough cpu power. I have never played the third. Horizon Dawn looked good at E3, but not good enough to make me buy a console. As much as I want to play The Last of Us I'll wait until 2017 unless original PS4 prices just tank after the PS4 Pro launches. My excitement for getting PS4 Pro was literally split 50/50 between God of War 4 and The Last of Us.

Eh, couple of months ago I stayed at a friend's house who has ps4, I specially got up early one day to play last of us, it took 40 minutes to get past hand holding tutorials and cinematics, by then I lost interest and played some nba 2K.
It's hard to think of great recent games, even ones that I finished like the two tomb raider games, so easy, linear, absurd (should rename that series to she-rambo)
Probably the game I've enjoyed the most in recent years that no one has mentioned is towerfall. Love me some local coop and I can play with my kid and his friends

haven't gamed much at all in the last few years, but GTAV and Portal 2 come to mind
I don't know that I have any favorites. I usually play whatever my friend puts on his server since I don't care for any online multiplayer stuff but want the MP experience nonetheless. Elite Dangerous was good, shallow but wide until, like most games, they nerfed this, buffed that, changed this and that and introduced things that I couldn't care less about like some Risk type faction game. Space Engineers was fun, I like building stuff. There's one called Empyrion Galactic Survival, it's like SE but you have the planetary survival building and crafting, then you get to space and can even warp to other planets. I haven't tried No Man's Sky, the colors turned me off. I have tried the early Star Citizens and it's pretty good for graphics but it will all devolve into pew pew and factions with better graphics and more lag.

That's where I started (with the NES) I was lucky my Mom bought it for me but its totally unnecessary unless you're a purist. MGS1 hasn't aged well on the PS1 imo, you would be better off playing MGS2 for the PS2 and definitely MGS3 for the PS3. MGS4 for the PS4 is arguably the best game in the series (I prefer 3 for aesthetic reasons). A lot of people get turned off by the 'long' cinematic cut-scenes, but for me they make it great, and of course the stealth gameplay which Kojima innovated and perfected imo.

I wish they'd just port MSG 4 to PS4 since I'll probably end up buying one. I don't feel like buying a PS3 even if you can jailbreak that shit and play roms off an external drive. The other games I can play off emulators. PS2 games look worlds better on PCSX2 than they ever did on PS2, assuming you have the CPU to run it. And PS1 games look night and day better on ePSXe.

I doubt the ports are coming imo. It's out of Kojima's hands now since Konami decided to make slot machine games for smart phones. Who knows though, they own the rights and if they're smart they will port all of them to the PS4 in a bundle. Defenitely play MGS2 on the emulators it will fill you in with everything thats happened so far and it's a beautiful game. I've beaten it countless times.

Man, the MGS games were Gold..But I honestly wouldn't advice anyone playing the older games..it's so outdated. It's the greatest Console franchise of all time, but it was largely because every MGS game was way ahead of other console games..
Play it now and i assure you..You'd quit out of boredom..
That Boss fight with P.Manits..I think I ccouldn't stop talking about awesome that was..but I can't imagine anyone finding Joy in that battle...The series knew video game limitations and it used that to its advantage.
MGS1 on PS1 revolutionzed video gaming..
Crazy how konami that got rich and had revolutionary games like MGS, and PES was like the go to soccer game for almost everyone...that's not even including Silent hill. That game changed how many people viwed the horor genre...Not even touching posdibly the greatest JRPG of all time in Suikoden 2.
Dem Pachinko machines and GYMS in japan must be making them a lot of money for them to quit on what made them rich.
