Spurs bringing over three stash picks. All have potential; though, none seem like a sure thing. I'm excited about Bertans potential to have a strong impact. Jean-Charles may not be consistent enough. I want to compare Richards to a stronger, less athletic Tayshaun Prince. I'm guessing he'll be a d-leaguer.

The thing is that draft and stash where the spurs have drafted most years of the Duncan tenure can't bring disaster. If anyone drafted under 15 doesn't work out its somewhat given a pass as a crap shoot anyway. To be a disaster a player taken in the top 10 has to fail badly or a player in the top 5 has to has a career altering injury and both of those have to be in the first 3 years. A team with a bunch of low to mid first round picks that are their own would be considered to have reloaded questionably if 3 mid round rookies all don't pan out. If one of them is a rotation player in 3 years one a solid bench guy and one out of the league the spurs will have drafted better than average.

I don't see how draft and stash can ever be a failure. Low draft choices very seldom turn out to be good NBA players, especially in their first few seasons. The players that are stashed are almost always from overseas, need more seasoning to prove themselves as NBA players. I see it as primarily a financial move by the Spurs to avoid taking a U.S. player of unknown ability and having to pay them.

Any stashed player that proves himself, eventually comes over and becomes a Spur on the active roster, is pure gravy.
