It doesn't really tell us anything that wasn't already known about this twisted nation, but it's still pretty disconcerting to actually see women getting assaulted in the supermarket and religious police all over the place like the Stasi. How can we as a nation be allied with these fuckheads?

It looks exactly like the stuff you hear from East Germans who had to live under the Soviet boot for 45 years. I was surprised to hear they allow no tourists whatsoever, as I thought Muslims were expected to make the pilgrimage to Mecca once in their lives.

Mecca is an exception. As they even accept Iranian visitors.
Also some areas do accept tourists such as some resots in Jedda

I'm assuming when you say $$$ - you mean oil. Shouldn't that encourage you to be for energy independence? Then we wouldn't care much about Saudi Arabia. Or is the environment/oil a bridge too far?

Do you understand that oil is a commodity and that prices are established globally? Energy independence only works if you can produce oil at the world market price.
Now take a look look at what Saudi Arabia has been producing the last couple of years and what it's done to the international price of oil.

I know virtually nothing about oil except that I'm paying much less at the gas pump than I did couple years ago but it would seem to me that if, as Americans, we develop our oil resources we save the cost of transport from ME, create lots of jobs (and thereby save on welfare), achieve energy independence, save the cost of intervention in the ME, sell oil to Europe and all this would stick it to/weaken Russia and ME.

:cry thanks Obummer :cry
That could also mean that we are using less oil - maybe more fuel efficient cars - or making more oil here/fracking.

What does that mean? Are you thanking Obama for us using less oil via more fuel efficient cars or thanking him for producing more oil/fracking?

The last part. Part of the plan is to obliterate Venezuela a country that has biggest oil reserves in the world and its high grade shit.
Us just trying to take over Venezuela and case closed

That is a good question.
Oddly enough we may find some cause to be aligned with the Iranians on this, who have been, highly ironically, bitching about the export of Wahabbism.

Majority of Venezuelas reserves are low quality, i.e. VZ has heavy, sour crude.

Because having an economy mismanaged by a rampaging moron never happens in reality. All governments are run by totally competant dictators, and the only time they fail is because the CIA makes it happen.
Fucking dolt.

Oil market is best thought of as a giant bathtub. All oil producers dump oil in, and oil consumers drain out what they need.
"independence" is a nice sounding fiction, because oil markets are global. Sure you can balance your exports/imports, but you are still getting market prices, unless you forbid domestic producers from exporting.
If you want true independence, go for solar/wind, so you aren't at the mercy of global supply/demand for oil. Get at destroying demand.

U.S. West Coast refiners purchase Oman crude, first time in 3 years
The imports of the medium sour crude blend started entering the United States in April, shortly after the price of crude from Oman became more competitive against other grades that typically feed West Coast refineries.
