I was surprised to hear this is coming out in less than two weeks. Is there anyone who is interested in this? The games look shitty except for the new Gran Turismo.

Are all VR games going to be about space, horror flicks, or shitty first person games that look like Overwatch?

I don't see the Poorstation being powerful enough to properly push VR.. How the fuck are you gonna go from an Oculus recommended 1200.00 gaming PC to a POS 400.00 AMD console and get a good experience? Doesn't make sense..

Can't really comment due to NDAs, but the answer to the question would be a no. I don't have a PS VR set yet, tbh, can't speak about the actual hardware, but we've been told we might be involved in a project for it next year.
From what I've read so far, the visual quality might not be as good as the Rift, but with these kind of devices, the experience really is what matters, so we'll see how it stacks up. They certainly have the brand recognition and the dev studios backing it up.
Also, don't forget some games will require the camera and move controllers, which are not included in the price.

Its all about the games, imo..and right now, none of these VR hlsets over decent games..
I guess the new resident evil is on Playstation VR but ill wait for a review of the game on VR before I bother buying.

I just don't hear much excitement about this. I mean it launches in 10 days and no one seems to care. When PS4/XB1 launched it seemed like everyone was hyped, same for X360, PS3, Wii, XBox, PS2, etc.
I had thoughts about getting this but the more I thought about it the less interested I was in it.
You have to get every kind of other bullshit accesories for this to work right. Fuck that.
This is just a money pit.

Not on PS4 VR. Fallout 4 is ridiculously cpu bound and those crappy Jaguar cores in the PS4/XB1 can't even keep it at 30 fps. You'd probably get sick as fuck playing VR at 30 fps.

Pleasently surprised so far with the Playstation VR....I've tried the alternatives and the PS VR is by far the best.
The gaming options are alwayd going to be significantly more in a console version...but the biggest thing is that the VR is 1000% more comfortable to wear than the alternatives.
The graphics isnt as good but in mpst games is barely noticable...really barely noticable for the layman..
If you're part of 99% layman customers that just wants to enjoy a VR machine with more gaming options and comfort..go with the PSVR.
Very satisfied. :tu

VR still feels like we're in the equivalent of the N64/PS1 era for 3D games. Everything kind of looks like shit and nothing is going to age well. So many first person VR games just have you teleporting places because if you move like in a traditional first person game you get sick (see Digital Foundry's review of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter on Occulus for example). VR is one of those things that's going to be fucking amazing in 5-10 years but it looks kind of lame now. Like it would be really interesting the first week you have it and then the novelty would die off.

Seriously... anybody spending hundreds of dollars to get this shit, not to mention the camera and move sticks? I don't even know if I would use it if it was gifted to me.
Most of this VR shit is something you can easily do IRL. You really only need or would want VR for shit you cannot do IRL, like flying military fighters or space sims or whatever. Shooting basketball seems like something a simple driveway hoop could resolve.

What you wanna know? I mean, every PS4 game has to support the Slim, so there's not going to be Pro exclusives. Might as well go with the Slim if you're gonna do 1080p, it's good value, IMO.

Just wondering if Days Gone will do anything but render at a higher resolution on the Pro. So far about the only decent argument for the Pro for 1080p I can think of is maybe newer games will have trouble hitting 30 fps on the 1.6 GHz cpu on the base PS4 vs the 2.1 GHz cpu on the pro.

PlayStation VR Sales Estimates Downgraded Hugely by Research Firm
"Supply inconsistencies" and "lack of marketing" contributed to the downward projection.
Earlier this year, research group SuperData put out a report that estimated that PlayStation VR sales would reach 2.6 million units sold by the end of 2016. Now, the firm has updated that figure substantially downward. The company is expecting PlayStation VR sales to be less than 750,000 for the year, down significantly from the previous forecast.
It's not just Sony's headset that SuperData is updating its sales expectations for, as its estimates for Google's Daydream is now 261,000 (down from 450,000). Projections for other leading headsets, including HTC Vive (450,000), Oculus Rift (355,000), and Gear VR (2.3 million) have not changed. Overall, SuperData is predicting that the VR market will be the "biggest loser" of holiday 2016 when it comes to gaming, according to GI.biz.
SuperData's Stephanie Llamas told GI.biz, which obtained the new figures, that "supply inconsistencies" and "lack of marketing" led to its downward projections for PlayStation VR. Messaging could be an issue, too, she said.
"[Sony has] also pointed out that VR looks even better on a PS4 Pro than a standard or slim PS4, so the message to most gamers is: Get the Pro now, then the PSVR later," she said. "As a result, we won't see them break 1M shipments until well into the new year."
Llamas went on to say that Sony "can afford to take it slow" with PlayStation VR right now due to a relative lack of competition. Chief competitors Microsoft and Nintendo do not have VR headsets and haven't announced plans to make them. Microsoft has its HoloLens VR/AR headset, but it is not on sale publicly.
PlayStation VR came out in October. The headset alone is priced at $400, and it also requires a PlayStation 4 and a PlayStation Camera, which are sold separately.
ony has not said how many PlayStation VR headsets it's sold, though the company said in October that sales are "on track." PlayStation executive Jim Ryan said in October that PlayStation VR is expected to sell "hundreds of thousands" of units at launch.
GameSpot's Jimmy Thang reviewed PlayStation VR, saying it's not a must-buy at the moment.
"As a VR fan, I want PSVR to succeed, but it trips up too many times to wholeheartedly recommend at this point," he wrote. "Many of the launch titles will make a large percentage of people sick, and it may lead to the false impression that VR has to make you nauseated. If you have a PS4 and are dying to get PSVR, then I'd recommend the $499.99 bundle which includes the PlayStation Camera, two Move controllers, and PlayStation VR Worlds.
"If you have a PS4 and are simply curious about VR, I'd hold out until more titles are released. While there are a handful of fun titles, there's nothing that I've played at launch so far to indicate to me that the PSVR is a must-buy right now. For everyone else, I'd recommend saving up for a better reality."
Time Magazine recently named PlayStation VR as one of the best inventions of 2016.
