Wow~~~

Are you guys watching your very first season of pro football? It sure looks like it. Oh hell yes, if the guy doesn't get it down by week 5 he SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forget the fact Peyton Manning threw how many INT's his first season as a starter, fuck the fact Terry Bradshaw was benched, started, benched again before.....WINNING 4 SUPERBOWLS. Hell, Brett Favre was dumped by the Falcons. The legendary Johhny Unitas was cut by the Steelers. HOFer Len Dawson was cut.

It just gets so tiresome watching guys freaking out from one game to the next on these forums. Who was it that said...Shady McCoy is done because he had a bad game, what did he do Sunday? The Bills were sucking at 0-2, now they are 3-2. In week one the Buc's beat the Falcons, since then what have we seen? And it goes on and on and on......

The Hall of Fame is full of QB 's who struggled early in their careers, so what happened?

The guy is in a whole new role now, something he's really now used to, so it might take some time like it did with a truck load of GREAT QB's.

In 2014 the Chiefs KILL the Pats something liike 40-14 and it was...TOM BRADY IS DONE, and THE PATS ARE DONE...hahaha~~~~ All they did was win the SB.

Anyone ever take the time to compare what any of these guys do vs the legends/greats? If anyone did they'd see a lot of those HOF QB's didn't start off so hot. Actually most of them took a few seasons to get it going.

Only a few like Marino, Big Ben, Russell Wilson, what we are seeing from Prescott impressed early on, most needed a few seasons.

Check out his first few seasons as a starter.

Why so many here are so quick to pass judgement on everything....???? What is the rush?

There was the Heisman winner O,J.Simpson in his rookie season, he gained 697 yards with a 3.9 average, little known RB Carl "who?" Garrett out of tiny Mew Mexico Highlands won the rookie of the year. What happened to Simpson, what happened to Carl Garrett?

I would still rather have picked Tevin Coleman, Jay Ajayi or David Johnson later in that draft without having to trade up and use our first-rounder on a running back. Just because Gordon's piling up a bunch of short-yardage TDs on carries that Woodhead would normally be getting doesn't mean our front office made the right decision there.

Before he had turned 27, HOFer/4 time SB winning QB, Terry Bradshaw had 48td's and 71ints. He totally sucked.

Osweiler has started how many games?

What is the rush to ....HE SUCKS~~~~~~~~~~ Why not do what smart fans do who know how these things have gone many times in the past and give the guy a little time?

In his rookie season O.J.Simpson.....697 3.9 average (RB Carl "Who?" Garrett out of New Mexico Highlands Rookie of the Year)
2nd season....488 4.1
3rd season...747 4.1

Then in year 4....BOOM 1251 4.3. And the rest is history. And yes in those first three seasons it was..."is he a bust?"

How many passes did Jerry Rice drop his rookie season?

by Mike Tanier

Twenty-one years ago this week, Bill Walsh stood before the skeptical Bay Area media and defended a controversial decision. He told them that the 49ers' troubled rookie wide receiver would remain a starter despite several bad performances.

The rookie's name was Jerry Rice.

The 49ers, fresh off a victory in Super Bowl XIX, were 6-5 and fighting for their playoff lives. Joe Montana's passing numbers were off. Rice, the team's top draft pick, had 26 receptions in 11 games, but he also dropped 10 balls, some of them at the worst possible times. He was coming off a game in which he dropped two passes, fumbled once, and caught just one pass. Niners fans booed the rookie; local columnists made him the butt of jokes. Freddie Solomon, a respected veteran who caught touchdown passes in 10 straight games in 1984, had become the invisible man in the Niners offense while Montana and Rice played pitch 'n' drop.

But Walsh held his ground, supported Rice, and kept him in the weekly gameplan. "At some point, the boos will turn to cheers," predicted Walsh during a press conference on November 18th, 1985.

That point was only a few weeks away.

That is one of the more famous examples of why those of us who understand the game........give these guys some time.

How many times was James Harrison cut?

Last night Texas was only trailing 14-9 and were driving with the ball to about the 30 yardline when running back fumbled for a turnover. That was a real turning point in the game.

Also a few key dropped passes.
Ossweilers stats, even last year can be deceiving. He tends to hit passes when he has to in wins with another example in last weeks OT escape. Plus, what is his W/L record as a starter. Granted, most of those with that killer Denver D. Otherwise, yes he has sucked by i agree lets give him some time. It was only last year in a playoff run that beat the Cheatriots in a very tight game. Had some huge throws.

I think where Ossweiler has f'd himself is his pouty move out of Denver to Texas.

Pro football is choked full FULL of players where it took them awhile to get it going. So to....HE SUCKS~~~~~~....early on, why? This is the guys first shot at.....my team, I'm da man.....and he's having a hard time adjusting to that role (he knew Manning was that guy in Denver).

Yes the way it went down sucks but that has nothing to do with giving this young guy some time to get used to his new role. So I do.

The great Ladainian Tomlinson averaged 3.9 his rookie season as did the great O.J.Simpson. Peyton Manning threw a TON of INT's his first couple seasons.

Tebow used to complete a few passes in clutch time after the defense did all the work for him too. Would you hand him $72 million right now?

I remember that Pats game last year, and the defense and running game won the game for them. The defense stifled that Patsies offense about as much as anyone can. It was Ronnie Hillman who kept Denver in the game with a rushing TD before halftime. It was CJ Anderson who cut it to 7 again with a rushing TD in the 4th (after the Patsies muffed a punt and handed Denver good field position), and it was Anderson who won the game on a 48-yard rushing TD in the 4th. Osweiler had a couple good throws down the stretch, but he didn't really do anything to win the game for them. He was carried.

As for the Colts game on SNF, again, that was largely a case of Osweiler being carried. He was terrible for the first three quarters (60% adjusted completion percentage, according to PFF). Just like Hillman and Anderson against the Pats last year, Lamar Miller did all the heavy lifting on offense to give Houston a chance. Mercilus and Clowney kept Luck under pressure all day defensively. Then Osweiler went on an unsustainable hot streak in his last 16 passes against a piss-poor Colts defense, and we're supposed to give him all the credit for the win when the rest of the team did their jobs all game long?

Osweiler has been in the league for four years now. He's been a starter for two. He has all the intangibles that you can't coach: he's freakishly tall, has a strong arm and is fairly athletic. But even at his best, he's only looked like a decent backup quarterback. He's certainly never looked like a $72 million franchise QB. Even in college, he wasn't very impressive. The knock on him was that he was inconsistent, undisciplined, and prone to turnovers and maddeningly inaccurate throws. So far, it's been the same story for him in the pros.

In today's QB-friendly league, we've seen guys like Big Ben, Joe Flacco, Matt Ryan, Andrew Luck and now Carson Wentz come in and make an immediate impact on their teams. At what point do we stop giving Osweiler time and start accepting that he's just not very good?

Assweiler isn't "da man" in Houston. He's the $72 million game mismanager who all the fans want benched for Tom Savage.

The real "man" on the Texans is on IR with a back injury.

My God guy, you really are totally clueless.

So the Texans paid 72 mill for a guy to back up a 4th round QB who has a horrendous 51.9 QB rating and has done ...0....other than throw an INT, hahahahaha~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Oh hell yes, lets judge a guy by his 13th NFL start on the road vs that Denver D....hahahahaha~~~~~~~

Does anyone have any idea at all how many star QB's sucked their first season as a starter, ya don't do ya?

Dude can't even hang on to the ball. Fumbled a couple of times without even getting hit. Even started to drop the ball at the end of his first down run. Not saying he won't get better but he sure doesn't look like a quality starting QB.
And even on the short dumpdowns, he throws it behind his receiver half the time.

Ossweiler suffered numerous receiver drops vs Raiders last night.
I didn't even watch but 1/3rd of the game and saw three gimmees dropped.

Also thought the spot on the run by him could have been a 1st down.
(Not the obvious rip off 4th qtr RaiderRef one the running back made but the 3rd and 10 scramble run by Ossweiler.) He dove for the 1st down marker, I thought maybe he had it. Oh well, no challenge and he walked off the field so....

Could easily be 7-3. Not too snabby.

Absolute trash, as expected. Crickets was wrong yet again with his "slowwwww dowwwwnnn~~~" card, while intelligent football fans correctly called what a loser this guy was early on in the season.

He came close to turning his last INT to a TD which would have meant that he was only as bad as Grady.:lol

Tell us all again about how Tom Savage is the best QB in Texas. hahaha~~~~

Joe Flacco in a playoff game vs Pitt 2008

43.3 comp %
TD.INT...0/3
minus 8 yards rushing
QB rating...............................18.2...hhaha~ ~~

Dude, do you ever look at what did? Ya don't do ya?

All I have ever said is what is the big rush? Why do you/others freak out so early over well everything.

Why not slow down a bit and see what happens?

Russell Wilson, Tom Brady, Big Ben and Aaron Rodgers threw six INT's in the games.

Having seen a lot of football I can't get too down over a...26...year old QB. And, this is his first season as...da man. Do I really have to talk all those greats who sucked the first time they became da man?

What is the rush to....YOU SUCK BROCK~~~~ When history is choked full of QB's who did no better than he is doing in the HOF. How many times was Terry Bradshaw benched? Johnny Unitas was cut by the Steelers. Bret Favre was dumped by the Falcons.

I know better than to put too much into a 26 year old QB's first season as the starter. Why do I or anyone need to play that anyway?

This is Eli Manning, look at what he did at 26 and younger.

Where is the big difference between Eli and Brock?

The great Derek Anderson before 27.

Avante.....slow down.

Then after the EXPERIENCE IN BIG GAMES...Pats win the game.

Avante....so where are my rookies?
Rookies...................

I always give things time. Watching you know nothings freaking out over a play, a game, before turkeyday is comical.

Avante...keep an eye on speedster Tyreek Hill

I give a QB five seasons where he actually played. If entering his sixth he still hasn't got it down, yep....he's not going to. I'm in no rush to act like some rookie and freak out until then. Yep, experience has taught me that.

Do you really think that's what was being said, come on guy? How many times have I bragged on Russell Wilson?

I'll go slow...

I don't...GET CRITICAL...of a QB until he's had five seasons to figure it out. Some.."SOME'..walk right in and take off ...BUT...some others need some time.

That really had to be explained to you?

Terry Bradshaw was benched how many times? Brett Favre was dumped by the Falcons.

Neither has the inelligence to be a STARTING NFL QB. They are why there was the thought blacks didn't have the intellect to play the position. Both will never do anything and it should be real obvious.

BUT....unless asked why would anyone need to be critical before five seasons?

Where have you ever seen me criticize either one? YOU asked ME...ok? I won't just...he sucks...unless being asked, see how that works?

Rookies are all quick to pass judgement because they don't know any better, those like myself know things take time. And how many times has that been proven?

I'll go slow....

Going from college ball to the NFL is huge. And not everyone gets it early on, some take more time than others. I having seen this many times give guys that time. While the inexperienced football fan has no clue what's going on.

See how it goes?

Brock has a career comp % of 59.9

Anyone have any idea how many long time starters, and guys we think of as being far better have an inferior comp %?

Completion % is one of the most useless stats in today's NFL, Avante..it has been completely devalued in this era of 5-yard checkdowns..

he averaged 5.8 yards per attempt, which is pretty bad in today's NFL
