This is a weird thread.
Non-traditional as in plays a position his height/weight suggest he shouldn't? Players like Barkley and Magic did this and were better at it.
Non-traditional as in played with a skillset that was not typical for a player of their position? Bird, Dirk, James, these are players that were differently skilled than position suggested and are better at it.
Non-traditional like unbalanced/unhinged, prone to self sabotage from antics? I'd take Rodman or even Rasheed, but Green is in this argument.

I know you aren't talking about Rasheed Wallace. He was a headcase and hated playing in the post but he was one of the most naturally gifted players to ever to pick up a basketball. He and Raymond should never be mentioned in the same sentence.
Wouldn't magic at pg be the biggest non trad star?
Does op really mean instead "most famous role player of modern game"*
He really didn't invent the undersize center position...he invented the undersized center playing with an all time great shooter
*Kobe Bryant still holds that award
I think Wilt was the best non-traditional star in the history of the NBA.

I would take Rasheed and Rodman anyday over Green, period.

Though both you & I busted Rasheed's hole wide open...to the tune of an NBA Title in fact.
Easily lured. Draw him into shallow water. Draw him in and drown him like Robert Shaw wanted to do to that shark in "Jaws."
We both did that to Wallace. He didn't like it, but, he had to take it. Especially in California. Had to call LAPD S.W.A.T. to drag him out of Staples after we lured him. tee, hee.

Too much failure. He reeked of it. Russell doused him with it. (They) tried to douse Magic with that same failure. Uh, uh. He chased 'em down like Mel chased that one English soldier down (Braveheart) that tried to run from him and got even with more than a 9 lb sledge.

Kobe: 2
Daddy: 1
Another time when Guy A tried to run from Guy B after making him smell his ass. This time Kobe/Guy B drew back a sweet bead & shot Daddy/Guy A right thru the chest with an arrow like the "Bandit" made his "Deliverance."

I would take Rodman anyday over Green. FWIW Green should be happy that Rodman is retired. If he kicked Rodman in the nutz, he would be on the bench for several games. Not from suspension, but from a broken jaw. Rodman would have done more than any of the wussies that he has kicked so far.
Had Rodman been making today's money he wouldn't have done shit. You don't see that kind of thing now because it's too damn expensive.
