If they hung it from their actual arena, I'd have a problem.
But this is at a practice facility, and is a testament to what practice can accomplish. It is still an incredible feat. Worthy of what is effectively an "oh yeah" sort of treatment out of the public eye, but where they can see it, but also let the overall failure let it eat at them to not fail to win a Title when up 3-1 if given the chance again.

What he said. It'd be mock-worthy if it were hanging in the arena.

I wouldn't hang it anywhere except in the coach's office next to the empty trophy case for that year to remind him that RS wins mean jack shit if you don't win the ring, that running your star into the ground cost you a ring, that letting Draymonkey Green act a damn fool cost you a ring, that you should have squelched that chimp when he bowed up on the lockerroom against his own team.
It's 100x more important that they won the 1st round of the playoffs than the 73 win record. When people talk about the most dominant team of all time, they'll still point to the Bulls.

Also, in line with the Celtics hosting a what-if banner (at the practice gym) for an 18th championship. As long as its in the practice facility and not like the Colts hanging their AFC Title game recipient, it's no big deal.

You all are retards. It's like a silver medal. It's a once in a lifetime accomplishment.
It's not like the Suns when they threw a goddamn losing in the Finals parade.
They honored the individuals that contributed to a once in a lifetime accomplishment at their goddamn practice facility. Hey didn't celebrate anything. They tributed the collective effort and dedication of a team... made possible by practice.... ya know, in that gym.

Is that at the actual stadium? If so, huge difference.
Now, if they unfurl some 73-win banner from the arena rafters first homegame to applause from fans while taking bows, mock the shit out of them.
But that "banner" is stapled to a goddamn Sheetrock wall. It's been given no ceremony. Before some asshat reporter snuck a pic, nobody even knew it was there.

That's loser talk. You sound like da_suns_fan (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=10213) right now. I know you're better than that.
If it's not a championship or your own team's superstars' retired numbers, it's not worth a banner. There's a reason people make fun of the Clippers' selfies, the Spurs retiring Bowen and Avery's numbers, the Heat retiring Jordan and Marino's numbers, the WNBA "Attendance Champions" banners, etc.
The only difference here is that the Warriors' banner is in the practice facility. But now that the picture has spread like wildfire and everyone knows it's there, they might as well have hung it from the rafters at Oracle and had a big damn ceremony. The effect is the same.

The WCF trophy would be the silver medal. RS record would be like destroying the existing tryout record but then taking huge Dan vs Dave level shit in the Olympics.

Fair enough. But the world record can come from any official race.
No team can win 73 postseason games. It's gotta be done in the regular season. If they set the record for most regular season wins, that's not just any old season. It's a record. And unlike track or swimming, it's one that won't be broken for a long time, because I doubt they even get to 70 wins this year, and after this year, who knows what that roster holds.
That's all this banner is; a denotation of an record-breaking accomplishment, because it is one. It's just not the big one. Hence the second class citizen/red-head stepchild treatment.

It's a noteworthy accomplishment, but that's all. It was gained by abandoning contemporary coaching sense just to chase that record, and I believe it cost them the ring.
There might have been instances where teams in the past could have done it, but chose not to so they could rest players for the playoffs. When it's a side discussion, typically teams that aren't eyeballing the title will go for it. Like in the TdF where a sprinter might try for a jersey knowing he cannot win the yellow, but he might get the green, or a climber might get the polka dot. It's a milestone on the way to the top, but it's not the summit and shouldn't be treated as such.

Yep. Iggy led the way against a depleted Cavs team. Fluky bullshit like that pretty much never happens. Warriors are fucked in trying to ring. Lack of an alpha. One is a point guard and the other is the NBA's version of Peyton Manning.

Literally could've happened to any team (see; 2015 playoffs). Random injuries happen, resting players in the regular season doesn't stop Curry from slipping on a wet spot or Bogut falling awkwardly.
