-Led blowout of Duds on the road by dropping a career high 35 (Outclassed 4 All-NBA players)
-Dropped another 30/5 on the road while hitting dagger shots & terrorizing the Kings on defense
**First player in NBA history w/ back-to-back 30/5 to start a season**
-Dropped career-high 16 in the 3rd quarter to blow the game wide open against the Pelicans (outclassed Davis)
-Dropped career-high 16 in the 4th quarter to pull out a win on a B2B @ Miami

Other than the Dubs the Spurs faced lottery teams themselves tbh, and Westchimp has much less talent on his team. Kawhi will get several of those awards this year.

Not a big deal. I don't care about these awards The most important thing in my eyes is that Kawhi is now finally getting star treatment from the refs which he wasn't getting in the past.

Yea you're reaching there. Westbrook has been a one man wrecking ball. Averaging a triple double definitely beats out what Kawhi has been doing stat wise. Which is what it's about, stats.

MVP is clearly Kawhis for the first week tho.

-Kings blewout the Suns & beat the Wolves
-Heat have two boarderline all-stars (Whiteside/Dragic) & a very good role player (Winslow)
-Anthony Davis had been the best player on the court even when he lost against the Duds

WestBrick victims:

-Sixers have D-League guards :lol
-D'Snitch got shat on by George Hill :lol
-He shot 17/44 against the Suns while getting calls from ThundeRefs @ OKC :lol

In 2015, he was pretty mediocre against playoff teams when he was on a triple-double tear. All that's changed is that he has Sabonis instead of Ibaka::lol (He had a better supporting cast than Harden did in '14-'15 when the Rockets won 55 games)

In any case, the league office set it up for him to win the award by scheduling three of the worst teams in the league for the first week of the season while OKC mourns the loss of Dominos.:rolleyes

If it's just about stats then Antony Davis should be at least second...right?:lol

Can't wait till the Spurs play OKC so Kawhi can lockup WestBrick & shit on Roberson just like he shat on Barnes. Kawhi won DPOY in 2015 for locking up Curry, he will win MVP when he outclasses WestBrick. The only thing I'm worried about is Pau getting mauled by Adams & offering zero resistance when WestBrick drives but at least Dedmon/Lee will bring their lunch pails unlike the Turd Towers.:toast

Who has him beat? Westbrook and LeBron are the contenders. LeBron has had a tougher schedule so he would be second to me, but Kawhi has had big game moments already. Opportunity has favored him more so. Westbrook has had the easiest schedule, and is taking 50 shots a game.

That's the point. A wrecking ball swings both ways. It takes everything out in its path, with no concern with who's team it's on.

That describes Westbrook's selfish tendencies quite well. The opposing team can't stop him, but neither can his own team when he takes 50 shots.

You want to make an argument that the player of the week doesn't revolve around stats? I'll entertain a convincing argument.

Davis is at 37, 12 and 3

Westbrook is at 38, 12 and 11.

You think these guys don't deserve player of the week?

Just to play devil's advocate, those guys are second and third in the league in PER, value added, and wins added. Guess who's first.

That's Pop pushing the team (and Kawhi) through some stressors by resting players this early. And on top of that, LDN's still injured.

10 FTA per game compared to 4.6 last year (16.2 per 100 possessions vs. 7.2) plus his assists being up 73% while turnovers only moving up 22%* is a huge development. Getting superstar treatment offensively because he's playing like one.

Already gets benefit of doubt defensively and on borderline plays, won't get whistled for minor contact.

* One of his seven being running down the shot clock at the end of the Kings game

Russ already had the 2nd all time highest usage percent for a single season... last year. Already averaged a double double, which he is a lock to maintain at the very least. Just needed two more boards a game, which given that he'll be driving the ball much more than before and in range to bring more down, especially with Ibaka gone, I think he's going to do it :wow

He didn't average 10 assists when Durant was out but Kanter was starting in 2015. This season, Kanter is actually playing 20 MPG so good luck getting 10 assists against playoff teams while chucking up the ball 27 times.:lol
