Ex-Spur and Tuesday's opponent on the Jazz, Boris Diaw would be cool with a one-way ticket to Mars.

GQ: Would you consider living on Mars?

Diaw: Definitely. I would do the one way trip. 100 percent. If they were looking for candidates, I would definitely apply for it.

Also, there was this:

So let me give you a few names and I want their safari animal comparison...Manu.

Manu is a leopard. It’s agile, like the way he moves on the court. It’s a very smart animal that ambushes pretty, and is very low key.

Pop.

[laughs] I got a picture that would look great for comparing Pop. You know the old monkey, the one that’s very smart, and is just sitting down. I got a picture of it that would be great for Pop.

Tim Duncan.

Timmy would be the elephant. Not physically, but more the mindset. Everybody says the lion is the king of the jungle. But I remember watching an elephant walk by one time, and there was a lion there lying on the ground, and the elephant just kept walking and the lion got out of his way. That’s the respect the elephant gets. It’s just quiet, it’s never stressed out, it’s always chilling, because he knows how good he is.

Can't blame Bobo for choosing Mars. The lower gravity there will certainly negate his weight gain in recent years.

Folks...say what you want about Diaw, but we don't bag #5 in 2014 without him.

I agree. He was fantastic in those Finals and Game 6 against OKC. We say we want our players to be interesting, not just gladiators, well there's no one with a range of interests and outlook like Bobo. :bobo

Don't get all the Bobo hate. It's unfortunate that he's decided to mail it in but we don't win in 2014 without him. Just be happy we got his best season while he was with the Spurs.

still glad i talked crap to him during game1 of the 2007 finals(after we beat his suns prior) and then after the game told him it was all in good fun and asked when he was joining the spurs. he had a huge smile and well, yall know what happened yrs later. boris was a breath of fresh air as a spur up until the end but regardless he was a spur and always will be in my eyes.

Haha! He'd way less than 100 lbs (I think 95 based on his listed 250 lb weight). His knees would be the real winner in this scenario.

So true, the beautiful game group is my favorite Spurs squad to date and he was the perfect player for that time.

He really was. He was the x-factor. That swiss army knife who worked in whatever lineup necessary.

I think it's fair to hate on Diaw. The Spurs saved his sorry ass from a pathetic Bobcats team and while he did repay them somewhat, he still never took playing for the best organization in sports seriously. I mean he had it made here. He had a great bench role, great teammates, a great coach, what more could he ask for? His conditioning was a serious slap in the face to his teammates and the organization. So yeah, thank you for 14 but fuck you Diaw.

Is there something wrong with me if I kinda agree with this?

I was pretty mad with Diaw during the 2015 season for being in poor shape. I thought he hurt us that year with Splitter being injured and coming into camp out of shape, and then he completely lost me by the end of last season. He has so much skill and talent that it's really maddening seeing him waste it.

Having said that, you guys don't think he's trying to get bought out again? I thought he'd take this year seriously as it's a contract year, but it doesn't appear that he's doing so.

Wouldn't be too surprised if he just retires :lolFrankly we joke about it, but one never knows at his age and his current level of play and seeming low motivation when it's the last season. He might indeed just retire. I would say let's enjoy his play this season, but I don't watch the Jazz at all and he may be out of their rotation when their other guys are healthy...

What kind of shape is he in? I saw his stats, but looking at that picture above, he doesn't look anywhere near Bobcat shape.

Absolutely, Boris was huge part of winning number 5. I loved him that season. I thought his playing shape was in peak condition (post Suns days) during that 2014 playoff run. I was so disappointed in him not being in great shape during the 2015 season though. Being in bad shape and lack of desire really hurt the team. I just don't understand his mindset. Sensational player when he's in shape and motivated. Very average when he is not though.

TRUE, his shot in Dallas when they tied it up WAS HUGE! If they lose that game they are out in round one.

I do agree about 2015... now saying fuck you Diaw for that is kinda stupid. Diaw helped us getting 5, a better in shape Diaw would not have saved Spurs in 2015... at the end people should be happy with Boris during his Spurs years even tho he had a disappointing last season... I guess it is just not edgy enough

Forget his play last year, or what physical shape he was in. If Boris went to live on Mars? Mars would instantly become a cooler place.

Edgy way of speaking aside, the point is he was awesome up until 2014, then you just want to slap him for being lazy in 2015-16.

But yes, everybody should be thankful about his run with the Spurs.

Diaw knows how to live life, tbh..he doesn't take basketball too seriously, which is frustrating from a fan's perspective, but you have to admire a nigga that appreciates being able to enjoy a millionaire's lifestyle, rather than spending his life caring about what others think(which is the case for the majority of pro athletes, evidently)..

The 2014 version of Diaw was purely motivated by the 2013 choke, tbh..yet another example of how much impact Ray Allen's shot had on the Spurs organization, it even got Boris to play to his full potential:lol
