View Full Version : So who would you say is the team's third best player?

Amuseddaysleeper

Is it Pau? Danny Green?

Green seems to be one of those where if he plays well the is almost guaranteed to win. Not sure you can say the same about Pau, but it's still early days. I know this team relies more on a team effort as oppose to individual performances but come playoff time we have learned that your superstars need to play like superstars and you'll usually need a player to play a little over his head.

So, what do you guys think? After LMA and Kawhi who do you think is or will be the Spurs third best player this season.

It's Pau, Green, Patty, Simmons. They're all really close. I'm convinced if Simmons got the minutes of the other 3, it'd be him, but that won't happen. So for now I'll say 3. Pau 4. Danny 5. Patty 6. Simmons

Okay, well since you were born with the disease, I'll relent and say Pau, closely over Danny and Patty.

It's Pau, based on individual skill, obviously..he's an All-Star caliber offensive player, still..

Green is 3rd if he gets back to 40% 3-point shooting, but clearly isn't if he plays like last regular season..

It's tough to say on this team, though..in terms of impact, it's Kawhi on his own level, then Aldridge on a tier, then you have the rest..

Patty/Danny. Come playoff time Pau is gonna get abused by some of the elite team's quickness and would play less IMO.

Danny, easily. He's the only guy, besides Kawhi and LA, that I expect to finish off most of the games. Same can't be said about any of the other guys. Not even Pau.

Should be Pau.
Would be Patty at the moment.
Could be Simmons moving forward.
Zould be Lee. (I don't bother to create new words just to get David in there. Love his game right now!)

I usually enjoy reading without commenting, but what the fuck have you guys been watching? Gasol? Verde? Over Patty Mills?

spursince#99
11-01-2016, 06:14 PM
I'd much rather prefer a human mouse trap at C before I'd play Gasol, especially on defense. Danny Green isn't as good as you guys give him credit for. He's a pretty inefficient midrange shooter, and is terrible at finishing at the rim. Did I mention his nonexistent dribbling ability? No? Well yeah, he dribbles like my 9 year old niece.

Lee and Dedmon are statistically better than Pau.

Pau is a terrible rebounder, and like LMA controls no paint. Spurs need Lee and Dedmon to keep playing strong. Lee is 13th in PER right now. IN THE LEAGUE. He and Dedmon are 8-9 in the league in reb%. Lee is 6th in Orating, Dedmon is 3. Dedmon is ahead of KL in Defensive Rating. Dedmon 18th in league in WS. Lee and Dedmon 8-9 in League in WS/48.

Pau... not on those lists. 3rd best player WTF>?

Kawhitstorm
11-02-2016, 12:06 AM
Just like 2014, the bench has to be the 3rd best asset for the team if they are going to make a deep run in the postseason.

Kawhi can neutralize the other team's best player & Softridge can at times be the best player on the floor when he's cookin'. When Danny is hitting his 3s at a 40% clip, he's one of the best 3-&-D guy in the league who can be an X-factor for series. Pau can be the 3rd best player on a championship team ala Kevin Love but he's unplayable against certain matchups thus the bench has to circumvent the holes in the starting lineup:
-Dedmon could be to Pau what Tristan is to Love
-Considering how shot Porker looks, Patty/Manu have to be in 2014 Finals form to overcome the hole Porker is going to dig.
-If Bertans can guard stretch 4s, he could be a valuable asset since Lee can't do the job & Kyle doesn't get those assignments
-Lee can give the team 2014 Baynes short-brust type impact minutes in the playoffs
-Simmons is the X-factor who could change a series by slaying a dragon in garbage time like CoJo

-Kyle seems like the De Colo of this squad & might get traded if he's put in the doghouse

When he is knocking down his 3s (ie guaranteed 35 minutes), Green might just be the second best player on the Spurs roster in term of overall game impact..
