He was last surviving member of the "Magnificent Seven."

Robert Vaughn, the cleft-chinned actor who reached the peak of his fame in the 1960s playing Napoleon Solo, the debonair international agent tasked with saving the world each week on the hit television series “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” died on Friday in Danbury, Conn. He was 83.
His manager, Matthew Sullivan, said that the cause was acute leukemia, for which Mr. Vaughn had been under treatment in Manhattan and Connecticut.

He did a nice early [Columbo] as a murdering car salesman. It's excellent.

He also had a plum role in "Bullitt" in '68 as he stands toe-to-toe with McQueen.

& a nice spot in a "Dick Van Dyke Show" episode as "Laura's" old flame. He shows up as a very wealthy man in a Brooks Brothers suit that is to die for. He looks almost beautiful here as he is at his zenith. The bit has a nice cuck sense to it as she has remained attracted.

But, it's that role in (7) that stills the memory. It's complex, it's haunting and it is without end. (He) is the only 1 of the 7 who we cannot, or, perhaps we're not permitted to (see). So much is left for our perusal, our judgment and our machinations. And that's on the production. God bless them.
