Trump just announced RNC chair Reince Priebus as his Chief of Staff. And VP Mike Pence will lead the transition team. We can use this thread for future updates to speculate and report when cabinet members are announced.

Can't be any worse than what we had. I'd like to see Trump pardon that 4 star general who "confessed", since Hillary got nothing for her transgressions and the "we love socialism" liberal DNC didn't employ the socialist mantra when they gave about 98% of the funding to only one candidate.

Repugs will REFUSE any increase in govt spending, being strictly austerity driven, defunding govt at all levels, with enriching BigDonors.

Repugs voting to repeal ACA 60+ times was pure time-wasting theatre.

Now the Repugs stop their theature, and can act, but they won't repeal it.

They'll fuck it up for the citizens while protecting BigCorp revenues.

Their court-approved suit ruling ACA subsidizing insurers is unConstitutional, what happens to that?

Repugs gonna stop hosing those govt $Bs to BigInsurance? fuck no. Repugs LOVE corporate welfare/socialism for ALL their BigDonors.

The Daily Trump Shitshow Is About to Begin

it turns out that Trump doesn't hate lobbyists all that much after all.

That whole "Drain the Swamp" thing was just red meat for the rubes.

The Associated Press reports that far from hating lobbyists, Trump absolutely adores them. Here's the Trump transition team: (http://bigstory.ap.org/7f2605f079334fddb0dfb341010b68ea)

The behind-the-scenes transition operation is being run by Ron Nichol, a senior partner at The Boston Group, a management consulting firm where 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney launched his business career.

Ken Blackwell...senior fellow at the Family Research Council...

Veteran agribusiness lobbyist Michael Torrey...

Energy industry lobbyist Mike McKenna...

David Bernhardt...represents mining companies seeking to use resources on federal lands...

Lobbyist Steven Hart, who focuses on tax and employee benefits, is leading the transition team for the Labor Department.

Cindy Hayden...top lobbyist for Altria, the parent company of cigarette-maker Philip Morris...Homeland Security Department.

Jeff Eisenach, a consultant and former lobbyist...Federal Communications Commission....

Michael Korbey...former lobbyist who led President George W. Bush's effort to privatize America's retirement system....

Shirley Ybarra...champion of "public-private partnerships" to build toll roads and bridges....

Myron Ebell...man-made global warming is a hoax...

David Malpass...Bear Stearns' chief economist...

Dan DiMicco...former chief executive of steel company NUCOR and a board member at Duke Energy...

Former Rep. Mike Rogers...serves on boards for consulting firms IronNet Cybersecurity and Next Century Corp.

Kevin O'Connor...partner at the law firm of close Trump adviser Rudy Giuliani...

Jim Carafano...Heritage Foundation's vice president for Foreign and Defense Policy Studies...

retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg...chief operating officer for Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq...

Mira Ricardel...vice president of business development for Boeing Strategic Missile & Defense Systems.

Trump advisor whines that calling out Bannon’s white supremacist ties is ‘divisive’

http://2d0yaz2jiom3c6vy7e7e5svk.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Screen-Shot-2016-11-14-at-8.47.04-AM-800x430.png

Apparently, it’s “divisive” to point out Steve Bannon has ties to white supremacists (http://www.rawstory.com/2016/11/giddy-white-nationalists-hail-trump-choosing-steve-bannon-as-his-minster-of-propaganda/).

But according to Donald Trump’s communication director Jason Miller said on CNN that it isn’t divisive to appoint someone (http://www.rawstory.com/2016/11/4-reasons-to-be-disgusted-and-alarmed-that-trump-made-breitbarts-steve-bannons-a-key-adviser/) with ties to white supremacists to the White House.

Miller attempted to parrot

the new message from the Trump transition, claiming that he’s beyond attacking Mexicans, Muslims, women and all of the other groups targeted during the election. :lol :lol :lol

Instead, they want to move forward and bring the country together. :lol

Steve Bannon is not a statement of unity. This is a man whose wife said he didn’t want his girls in a school because they had too many Jews there.

Giddy white nationalists hail Trump choosing Steve Bannon as his ‘minister of propaganda’

Reacting to the news of Bannon’s appointment, white nationalist Richard Spencer gushed on Twitter that he was in the “best possible position” to implement long-term strategy inside the Trump White House.

1/ "Strategist" is the best possible position for Steve Bannon in the Trump White House.

2/ Bannon will answer directly to Trump and focus on the big picture, and not get lost in the weeds.

3/ Bannon is not a "chief of staff," which requires a "golden retriever" personality. He'll be freed up to chart Trump's macro trajectory.

Spencer, who first coined the term “alt-right” last decade with his website Alternative Right, believes that

America should work to eject all non-white races from our borders and make the country into a giant “safe space” for white people (https://www.rawstory.com/2016/11/alt-right-founder-trump-is-the-first-step-in-turning-america-into-a-vast-safe-space-for-whites/).

He believes that Bannon’s appointment means that the Trump administration will push the country more in a direction favored by white supremacists like himself.

Spencer’s fellow white nationalists were similarly giddy about the appointment, and one of them gushed that Bannon would be the perfect “Minister of Propaganda” for the Trump administration.

@RichardBSpencer (https://twitter.com/RichardBSpencer) I think of it as Minister of Propaganda.

Bannon has long been a controversial figure, even among his fellow conservatives and employees at Breitbart News.

Former Breitbart editor Ben Shapiro, for instance, has called

Bannon (http://www.dailywire.com/news/8441/i-know-trumps-new-campaign-chairman-steve-bannon-ben-shapiro) “a legitimately sinister figure” who pushed the website to “openly embrace the white supremacist alt-right.”

Additionally, former Breitbart spokesman Kurt Bardella, meanwhile, has said that

Bannon represents (http://www.rawstory.com/2016/11/ex-breitbart-consultant-warns-right-wing-site-has-become-propaganda-arm-of-the-trump-white-house/) “a worldview that is incredibly dangerous and divisive.”

Bannon, so let’s talk plainly. He’s not just a “controversial” figure who ran a “provocative” web site.

Breitbart is a firehose of thinly veiled racism and anti-Semitism, spewing its endless supply of poison into our politics.

The White House Press Briefing Room Might Become A Hostile Place For Hispanic Journalists

President-elect Donald Trump is considering Laura Ingraham, a Fox News contributor and conservative radio talk show host, as a possible choice for White House press secretary.

If he picks her, it would be Ingraham’s job to brief the White House press corps on behalf of the Trump administration, and

the attacks she’s launched against Hispanic journalists and Spanish-language media would make the White House briefing room a very hostile place for Hispanic journalists.
On November 13, The Hill reported (http://thehill.com/homenews/news/305754-laura-ingraham-under-consideration-for-white-house-press-secretary) that Ingraham was “under serious consideration” to be the press secretary of Trump’s White House, an indication that the contempt (http://mediamatters.org/research/2016/10/11/guide-donald-trumps-war-press-so-far/213290) Trump showed (http://mediamatters.org/research/2016/05/23/libel-laws-threats-nasty-insults-guide-trump-s-war-against-media/210507) for the press during his campaign will percolate into his administration, since Ingraham has her own history (http://mediamatters.org/research/2016/11/13/potential-press-secretary-laura-ingraham-disgusted-press-who-report-anything-she-deems-negative/214418) of railing against journalists whose reporting she doesn’t agree with.

During her crusade against “biased,” “post-American” journalism, Ingraham has singled out Hispanic media specifically, taking offense (http://mediamatters.org/video/2016/11/04/laura-ingraham-univision-and-telemundo-are-toxic-hispanic-centric-outlets-revile-american-experience/214308) that Telemundo and Univision are “Hispanic-centric” networks which “revile the American experience” and have a “toxic” impact.

The networks are extremely valuable (http://www.mediamatters.org/blog/2016/10/11/media-matters-panel-discusses-dearth-latino-voices-media/213765) for many Spanish-speakers who rely on them to better “navigate America,” but Ingraham has accused (http://mediamatters.org/video/2016/02/24/ingraham-pushes-claim-that-spanish-language-med/208781) them of “teaching illegals how to avoid deportation” and of preventing (http://mediamatters.org/research/2016/11/13/potential-press-secretary-laura-ingraham-disgusted-press-who-report-anything-she-deems-negative/214418) people from learning English.

Ingraham has also taken issue with Hispanic journalists merely for speaking Spanish, once criticizing Telemundo anchor José Díaz-Balart for translating for a Spanish-speaking guest and mocking (http://mediamatters.org/video/2014/09/23/ingraham-mocks-msnbcs-jose-diaz-balart-for-tran/200851) his accent by saying it was “so herky-jerky.”

Ingraham has been critical of multilingualism in the United States, extending (https://twitter.com/IngrahamAngle/status/758490843493855232) her mockery on Twitter to Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) for his command of Spanish and criticizing (http://mediamatters.org/video/2015/10/26/laura-ingraham-bemoans-multilingualism-in-us-sc/206422) retail workers who speak English with an accent, saying, “You can’t understand them. Sometimes you think you’re in a foreign country.” Any member of the press corp who sounds similar could be subjected to the same level of mockery and disdain from a press secretary Ingraham.

http://mediamatters.org/blog/2016/11/14/white-house-press-briefing-room-might-become-hostile-place-hispanic-journalists/214435?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+MediaMattersForAmerica-CountyFair+%28Media+Matters+for+America+-+Blog%29

Flynn's conflicts of interests (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/11/18/1601249/-Abbreviated-pundit-roundup-Flynn-s-conflicts-of-interests-Trump-lies-again-and-more)

Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who has reportedly been offered the role (https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-battles-back-against-charges-transition-tumult-082942875--election.html?ref=gs) of national security adviser in Donald Trump’s White House, began receiving classified national security briefings last summer while he was also running a private consulting firm that offered “all-source intelligence support” to international clients.

Flynn’s relationship with his overseas clients is coming in for new scrutiny amid recent disclosures that two months ago, during the height of the presidential campaign, his consulting firm, the Flynn Intel Group, registered to lobby for a Dutch company owned by a wealthy Turkish businessman close to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey.

Flynn has said (https://www.yahoo.com/news/lt-gen-flynn-islam-political-181546830.html) Islam is a “political ideology based on a religion,”

which he believes “the American Founding Fathers wanted nothing to do with,” and

he’s even called it a cancer.

Trump and Flynn both believe that the U.S. needs to work more closely with Russia to defeat the threat of radical Islam, despite Russian President Vlaimir Putin’s human rights abuses and aggressive action in Ukraine.

Last year Flynn was paid to give a speech in Moscow and appear at a gala for the TV network RT, where he was seated next to Putin.

Flynn said he sees no difference between the Kremlin-funded outlet and U.S. media organizations like CNN.

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/11/18/1601249/-Abbreviated-pundit-roundup-Flynn-s-conflicts-of-interests-Trump-lies-again-and-more?detail=email&link_id=6&can_id=4217e8eb109c68bd0c2e4143dd2d8c15&source=email-proposed-bill-turns-protesting-into-a-felony&email_referrer=proposed-bill-turns-protesting-into-a-felony&email_subject=proposed-bill-turns-protesting-into-a-felony

Seated next to Simonyan at the dinner and just two seats away from Putin himself was perhaps the most intriguing example of how the Russians have gone about recruiting disaffected members of that establishment: a rugged-looking man in a tuxedo who less than 18 months earlier had been head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon’s powerful in-house equivalent of the CIA. Michael Flynn, now a private citizen after a reportedly (http://foreignpolicy.com/2014/04/30/defense-intelligence-agencys-flynn-leaving-after-rocky-tenure/) disgruntled retirement, was not there to gather intelligence.

His attendance at the RT gala, before which he also gave a talk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RIUE68cpGc) on world affairs, appeared to inaugurate a relationship with the network—presumably a paid one, though neither Flynn nor RT answered queries on the subject.

Flynn now makes semi-regular appearances on RT as an analyst,

in which he often argues that the U.S. and Russia should be working more closely together on issues like fighting ISIL (https://www.rt.com/op-edge/336975-flynn-isis-us-russia-unite/) and ending Syria’s civil war. “Russia has its own national security strategy, and we have to respect that,” he said in one recent appearance.

“And we have to try to figure out: How do we combine the United States’ national security strategy along with Russia’s national security strategy, despite all the challenges that we face?”
At a moment of semi-hostility between the U.S. and Russia,

the presence of such an important figure at Putin’s table startled current and former members of the Obama administration. “It was extremely odd that he showed up in a tuxedo to the Russian government propaganda arm’s party,” one former Pentagon official told me.

Trump’s pick for attorney general: The Ku Klux Klan was fine ‘until I found out they smoked pot’

A supporter of Nancy Reagan’s “Just Say No (http://theinfluence.org/nancy-reagans-just-say-no-campaign-was-a-disaster-how-to-end-it-for-good/)” campaign, the 69-year-old Republican said of marijuana earlier this year:

“This drug is dangerous, it cannot be played with, it is not funny, it’s not something to laugh about, and trying to send that message with clarity, that good people don’t smoke marijuana.” :lol

“Jeff Sessions is a drug war dinosaur, which is the last thing the nation needs now,” said Ethan Nadelmann, executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance. “Those who counted on Donald Trump’s reassurance that marijuana reforms ‘should be a state issue’ will be sorely disappointed.”

What could be the senator’s motivation for holding such positions?

Back in 1986, when Sessions was serving as a prosecutor in Alabama, President Ronald Reagan nominated him to become a federal judge.

However, this application was rejected—by a [I]Republican-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee and during the racist Reagan era (http://theinfluence.org/how-ronald-reagans-drug-war-fueled-americans-addiction-to-racist-ideas/)—because of Sessions’ behavior around race.

His ex-colleagues testified that he had described civil rights organizations, such as the NAACP, as “un-American.”

And Thomas H. Figures,

a black federal prosecutor, said that Sessions had called him “boy,” and told him, “be careful what you say to white folks.”

Figures also testified that Sessions said that the Ku Klux Klan was fine “until I found out they smoked pot.”

Jeff Sessions is expected to bring sweeping changes to the Justice Department

a “sense of the Senate” resolution affirming that the United States must not bar people from the country because of their religion.Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) — a member of the Judiciary Committee, along with Leahy — voted against the resolution, but not before delivering a 30-minute oration urging fellow senators to reject the measure. the next attorney general — a position that will give him the platform to shape civil rights policy and to defend the constitutionality of policies that effectively restrict Muslim immigration, legal and civil liberties experts warn.

Several former Justice officials predicted that Sessions would reverse the emphasis on civil rights and criminal-justice reform that Holder put in place.

“From his time as U.S. attorney through his service on the Judiciary Committee, he has left serious doubts about whether he would faithfully enforce civil rights laws as attorney general,”

“The civil rights division was gutted during the last Republican administration, and the burden of proof is on Senator Sessions to show that he would not follow that same path.”

Sessions voted against confirming Lynch as attorney general,

Sessions has opposed same-sex marriage and has a zero rating from the nation’s largest LGBT advocacy group, the Human Rights Campaign.

“Regrettably, it is likely to be exercised toward the attempted elimination of civil rights, environmental and antitrust enforcement.

believes that there’s also a place for military commissions for unlawful foreign enemy combatants — a nonuniformed illegal terrorist without a nation who’s killing women and children overseas.”

J. Gerald Hebert — now the director of the voting rights and redistricting program at the Campaign Legal Center — said that Sessions had called the NAACP and the American Civil Liberties Union “un-American” and “Communist-inspired.”

10 things to know about Sen. Jeff Sessions, Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general

He's "amnesty's worst enemy": The conservative National Review crowned Sessions with that title (http://www.nationalreview.com/article/384665/amnestys-worst-enemy-eliana-johnson) in 2014, with good reason. Sessions has opposed nearly every immigration bill that has come before the Senate the past two decades that has included a path to citizenship for immigrants in the country illegally.

He's also fought legal immigration, including guest worker programs for illegal immigrants and visa programs for foreign workers in science, math and high-tech. In 2007, Sessions got a bill passed essentially banning for 10 years federal contractors who hire illegal immigrants.

He's a debt hawk and a military hawk: Sessions, a lawyer before he became a politician, is known for touring Alabama with charts warning of the United States' "crippling" debt. On foreign policy, Sessions has advocated a get-tough approach, once voting against an amendment banning "cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment" of prisoners.

He's a climate change skeptic: Here's Sessions in a 2015 hearing questioning Environmental Protection Agency's Gina McCarthy: "Carbon pollution is CO2, and that’s really not a pollutant; that’s a plant food, and it doesn’t harm anybody except that it might include temperature increases."

:lol Repug "science" :lol

Normalizing the Abnormal: NPR Begins Its Whitewashing of Breitbart's Racism

Trumpites all use the same technique; trot out blame the victim reverse racism.

“Let’s hear a defense of Steve Bannon,” NPR host Steve Inskeep began, offering a view of exactly what direction this interview would take. Pollak started by launching into a gushing assessment of Bannon, calling him “a national hero,” and talking about how it’s so great we’ll have someone “so calm under pressure in the White House.”

(Maybe this is true, though it contradicts accusations against Bannon of domestic abuse (http://www.vox.com/2016/8/26/12657400/trump-stephen-bannon-domestic-violence), sexual harassment (https://www.buzzfeed.com/andrewkaczynski/trump-campaign-ceo-was-accused-of-sexual-harassment-in-90s-l?utm_term=.iapwXlMxv#.ptAdow96y) and being (http://www.politico.com/story/2016/09/steve-bannon-breitbart-employees-criticize-227672) a “verbally abus[ive]” “bully” “who is prone to a lot of tirades” by former staffers.)

When Inskeep interjected to ask about Bannon’s tireless work to turn Breitbart into the alt-right outlet of choice, Pollak attempted to distance the site from the movement it has nurtured on a steady diet of xenophobia, racism, sexism and anti-Semitism.

“The only alt-right content we have is a single article out of tens of thousands of articles, which is a journalistic article about the alt-right by Milo Yiannopoulos, and Allum Bokhari, which basically went into this movement, and tried to figure out what it was all about,” Pollak said. “That’s not racist; that’s journalism.”

And just like that, Bannon’s site was suddenly unaffiliated with the alt-right movement —

though Bannon himself boasted in August that Breitbart is the "platform of the alt-right.”

Trump considering lunatic World Net Daily writer for deputy national security post (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/11/15/1599790/-Trump-considering-lunatic-World-Net-Daily-writer-for-deputy-national-security-post)

Donald Trump is reportedly considering appointing Clare Lopez, an anti-Muslim conspiracy theorist, to serve as his deputy national security adviser.Lopez is the vice president of the Center for Security Policy, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank that focuses on the threat of Islamic jihad. She was on a short list of names that the Daily Caller reported as coming directly from the Trump transition team.

That would be Frank Gaffney's think tank, the one that believes the Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated not only the government but the conservative movement itself.

Their biggest claim to fame is their insistence that

conservative anti-tax guru Grover Norquist is a secret ally of the Muslim Brotherhood;

when they demanded the conservative CPAC conference remove Norquist and other "secret Muslims" from the board, CPAC kicked them out.

Clare Lopez, for her part, outlines her group's various lunatic anti-Muslim conspiracies on Breitbart and on World Net Daily, two of the most-known conservative conspiracy sites.

She and her fellow conspiracy-inventors are

convinced that everyone from Clinton's aide Huma Abedin to Grover Norquist are secretly allies of terrorists;

the group's evidence for this consists solely of any drawable lines between their targets and any ethnic Muslim anywhere.

They are absolutely unhinged, and for a long while were shunned in conservative circles—until Steve Bannon used his own power to re-mainstream them over the objections of those "serious" conservatives by giving them a large public platform and deriding conservatives who don't ascribe to their lunacy.

This is the person in the running to be Trump's deputy national security adviser: the woman who believes secret Muslims have infiltrated all ranks of our government and politics, and has advocated for a return to the McCarthy era of investigating and rooting out Muslims and Muslim-enablers.

Gays can be reformed, just like arsonists, Trump’s new domestic policy adviser has said

Ken Blackwell, tapped last week by President-elect Donald Trump to head domestic policy during the businessman's transition to the White House, has made anti-LGBT statements for years.

Among them: Homosexuality is a sin, and gay people, just like petty thieves and fire-setters, can be rehabilitated.

The Ohio politician has long endorsed a controversial mental health practice known as conversion therapy or reparative therapy.

The goal is to cure a person of his or her homosexuality, and in the case of transgender people, to reaffirm the gender into which they were born.

Why Steve Bannon may literally not be fit to serve in the White House (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/11/17/1601065/-Why-Steve-Bannon-may-literally-not-be-fit-to-serve-in-the-White-House)

Anyone seeking a security clearance would be subject to an extensive background check and investigation by the FBI and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Tim Mak of The Daily Beast spoke with a number of experts on that process, and

they were unanimous — any ordinary person with Bannon’s history would probably have an uphill battle (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/11/16/is-trump-s-man-steve-bannon-too-shady-to-handle-secrets.html) on his hands to clear those hurdles.

Remember, this is a guy who has documented ties to far-right groups both home and abroad, is suspected of voter fraud in Florida, may have taken illegal payments from pro-Trump fat cats, and has a history of domestic violence.

I say “any ordinary person” because, on paper, Trump would have the right to overrule the FBI and ODNI if they find Bannon can’t be trusted with a security clearance.

But just because he can doesn’t mean he should. Indeed, Adam Schiff, the ranking Dem on the House Intelligence Committee, was concerned enough to put the FBI and ODNI on notice—don’t give Bannon any special favors.

“Given that the president-elect disregarded what the intelligence community must have been telling him about Russia’s role in the hacking of the Democratic National Committee… there are already profound concerns [over whether] he will accept the views of the intelligence community when it differs from his own view of things,” Schiff said.

“Were he to move forward with someone that the intelligence community found to be disqualified on the basis of his background checks, that would be another cause for grave concern.”

I’d go further than that. If Trump were to grant Bannon a security clearance despite being told he couldn’t be trusted with one, it would be grounds to demand his resignation. You could even make the argument that it would be an impeachable offense.

Trump Environmental Guru Says Pesticides Are Safe and Denies Climate Change

Trump advisor completely dismisses “the well-established existence of endocrine-disrupting chemicals as a myth conjured by anti-chemical activists."

Americans’ health is going to be one aspect of life in Trump’s great American that is going to face serious consequences as a result of the election and not just because the nation’s three major healthcare programs are being prepped for the trash heap.

To compound the near certainty that Americans’ healthcare is going to suffer Trump’s “greatness”

along with the prospect of destroying agriculture in its entirety, more Americans are going to need medical treatment if Trump’s choice of a notorious climate change denier to lead the transition of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) gets his way; and there is every indication he will.

the notorious climate change denier hates everything about the Republican created (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Environmental_Protection_Agency) EPA and wants it abolished, or at least completely neutered, nearly as vigorously as the Koch brothers.

The man Trump decided was best suited to help transition the EPA into an agency in name only is Myron Ebell. The climate change denier is the director (https://cei.org/expert/myron-ebell) of the Center for Energy and Environment at the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

The Ebell-led group (CEI) runs a website, SafeChemicalPolicy (http://www.safechemicalpolicy.org/) that exists for the sole purpose of downplaying the health risks and ecological impacts of chemicals on living beings, including the human kind.

In fact, one has to concur with Mother Jones that Mr. Ebell believes in his heart of hearts that pesticides (various poisons) “aren’t bad for you.”

One of the pesticides Mr. Ebell claims is safe is atrazine.

The pesticide is banned in Europe, but it is “used widely on US farm fields” despite it being dangerous and highly controversial for what it does to living beings. Atrazine is an endocrine disrupter (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23022511); a term used for any chemical that mimics hormones. According (https://www.niehs.nih.gov/health/topics/agents/endocrine/) to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences;

endocrine disrupters “produce adverse developmental, reproductive, neurological, and immune effects in both humans and wildlife.”

atrazine, doesn’t just stay on areas it is dispensed; it is “widely found (http://www.panna.org/press-release/atrazine-found-water-dozens-midwest-communities)” in streams, rivers and drinking water supplies in and around agricultural areas where it is used. Even at extremely low levels, research (http://http/www.berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2002/04/15_frogs.html) from the University of California-Berkeley discovered that atrazine triggers sex changes in frogs.

Myron Ebell’s group did its part to aid Syngenta by completely dismissing “the well-established existence of endocrine-disrupting chemicals as a myth conjured by anti-chemical activists.”

There are consequences, adverse and dangerous consequences, of electing a tyrant with no regard for science, the climate, the ecology and environment to run the country. One of those consequences is installing a dirty energy advocate to transition the EPA and who not only denies climate change, but he denies that toxic pesticides are dangerous to human beings or that killing off the one insect crucial to sustaining life on Earth is no bigger deal than Americans going through spontaneous pesticide-induced sex changes.

Top Trump Adviser Michael Flynn Falsely Claimed Florida Democrats Supported Sharia Law

Every Democrat in Florida’s senate, Flynn told a Dallas gathering of ACT for America in August, had “voted yes to allow Sharia law to be used in the state of Florida’s judicial system.”

He went on to express disbelief that senators with names like “John” had voted this way, saying “maybe that’s racist thinking that way, but I don’t think it is”:

I mean, unbelievable. Unbelievable. I mean, it’s like they all voted. And there’s no—I looked at the names, so I got the whole roster of that state to see, well, maybe there’s like, you know, Mohammed bin Salam is one of the state senators, and so, okay, it wouldn’t surprise me—and maybe that’s racist thinking that way, but I don’t think it is.

But it wasn’t. It wasn’t. It was like John Smith and Mike Flynn. And I’m thinking, God, do these people not understand what Sharia law is, what it does to, you know, these beautiful women that are here tonight? You’re a piece of property!

The 2014 vote that Flynn was apparently referring to was on one of a rash of laws prohibiting the use of “foreign law” in U.S. courts that have been promoted by anti-Muslim groups in recent years in an attempt to stir up fear of creeping Sharia in America. Democrats in the state senate voted against that bill.

Politifact wrote at the time (http://www.politifact.com/florida/statements/2014/may/08/blog-posting/florida-democrats-just-voted-impose-sharia-law-wom/) that the bill in question didn’t actually change the existing law, which allowed for “a judge to agree to apply foreign law as long as it doesn’t contradict public policy in the U.S.” Instead, as one state legislator said, it was “a solution in search of a problem”:

Trump's national security adviser vows to tackle North Korea nuclear threat

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's national security adviser says North Korea's nuclear program would be given a high priority under the new administration

Trump had suggested during the election campaign he would be willing to withdraw U.S. military stationed in South Korea unless Seoul paid a greater share of the cost of the deployment. There are about 28,500 U.S. troops based in South Korea in combined defense against North Korea.

James "Mad Dog" Mattis? Yeah I know him by that name. Hell, I worked with him in Nam. But back then, we called him "Gook Gutting" Mattis because he never came out of a tunnel without a scalp, an ear, or covered with blood.

Most would call him insane, but that is why the green berets trained him. They saw potential. It wasn't until they learned his methods that they truly realized what a monster they created.

You see, most guys that go tunnel clearing take guns. Not James. No, he took knives, clubs, hatchets, sometimes nothing but his bare hands. After a few missions I got a chance to talk to him in the mess. He was wearing his blood stained hat, sunglasses, and combat fatigues, smoking a cigarette and drinking johnny walker black. It was contraband, but you NEVER told James what he could and couldn't do.

I asked him why he never took guns with him. He lowered is head and took a long slow draw from his hand rolled cig, pulled off his sun glasses and looked me right in the eyes, piercing my soul.

"I do it out of respect. Respect for the white race. These slant eye'd scum bags don't deserve the mercy of an American made bullet, but the slow torturous death of the hands of an American man!"

In a flash he pulled out his weathered, but razor sharp knife and stopped just short of sticking my gut. "The look in their eyes when I slip this baby into their swollen, rice filled bellies is reason enough. To see the last lights flick off in their heads as they see a real killer work."

RIP Mudslimes

The past few days the media has been running hit pieces on Steve Bannon calling him a bigger Hitler than Trump. Well this is the real reason for all those hit pieces

https://www.buzzfeed.com/lesterfeder/this-is-how-steve-bannon-sees-the-entire-world?utm_term=.kc3avyd36W#.iw11q4MpP3

Bannon: That’s a great question. The 2008 crisis, I think the financial crisis — which, by the way, I don’t think we’ve come through — is really driven I believe by the greed, much of it driven by the greed of the investment banks. My old firm, Goldman Sachs — traditionally the best banks are leveraged 8:1. When we had the financial crisis in 2008, the investment banks were leveraged 35:1. Those rules had specifically been changed by a guy named Hank Paulson. He was secretary of Treasury. As chairman of Goldman Sachs, he had gone to Washington years before and asked for those changes. That made the banks not really investment banks, but made them hedge funds — and highly susceptible to changes in liquidity. And so the crisis of 2008 was, quite frankly, really never recovered from in the United States. It’s one of the reasons last quarter you saw 2.9% negative growth in a quarter. So the United States economy is in very, very tough shape.

And one of the reasons is that we’ve never really gone and dug down and sorted through the problems of 2008. Particularly the fact — think about it — not one criminal charge has ever been brought to any bank executive associated with 2008 crisis. And in fact, it gets worse. No bonuses and none of their equity was taken. So part of the prime drivers of the wealth that they took in the 15 years leading up to the crisis was not hit at all, and I think that’s one of the fuels of this populist revolt that we’re seeing as the tea party. So I think there are many, many measures, particularly about getting the banks on better footing, making them address all the liquid assets they have. I think you need a real clean-up of the banks balance sheets.

In addition, I think you really need to go back and make banks do what they do: Commercial banks lend money, and investment banks invest in entrepreneurs and to get away from this trading — you know, the hedge fund securitization, which they’ve all become basically trading operations and securitizations and not put capital back and really grow businesses and to grow the economy. So I think it’s a whole area that just — and I will tell you, the underpinning of this populist revolt is the financial crisis of 2008. That revolt, the way that it was dealt with, the way that the people who ran the banks and ran the hedge funds have never really been held accountable for what they did, has fueled much of the anger in the tea party movement in the United States.

Alt-right leaders praise Sessions as attorney general pick

Richard Spencer, president of the National Policy Institute and popularizer of the term “alt-right,” told reporters in Washington on Saturday that Donald Trump could achieve some of the white nationalist movement’s goals by making Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) his attorney general.

“Jeff Sessions is someone who is not alt-right but seems to see eye-to-eye with us on the immigration question,” Spencer said.

“The fact that he is going to be at such a high level is a wonderful thing. What Jeff Sessions is not going to do, in terms of not prosecuting federal diversity and fair housing, I think is just as powerful as what he might do.”

Michael Flynn cheered coup attempt in Turkey—until he was paid to oppose it (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/11/21/1602549/-Michael-Flynn-cheered-coup-attempt-in-Turkey-until-he-was-paid-to-oppose-it)

It’s not just Donald Trump who is willing to sell out his policies. He’s hired an entire team of kleptocrats, including a National Security Adviser who was on both sides of an attempted coup in a NATO ally country. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/mike-flynn-turkey-coup_us_58324909e4b099512f8376d4)

When a faction of the Turkish military attempted to overthrow President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in July, Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn celebrated the coup effort as something “worth clapping for.” …

He warned that Erdogan was an Islamist and “very close to President [Barack] Obama,” who was leading his country toward disaster. However, that was before Flynn’s company was hired by an Erdogan ally. After that, Flynn began singing a slightly different tune (http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/foreign-policy/305021-our-ally-turkey-is-in-crisis-and-needs-our-support).

Turkey is really our strongest ally against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), as well as a source of stability in the region. It provides badly needed cooperation with U.S. military operations. But the Obama administration is keeping Erdoğan’s government at arm’s length — an unwise policy that threatens our long-standing alliance.

During the coup attempt, Flynn painted Erdogan as the scary Islamist with ties to Democrats.

“Probably most of you don’t know, but there’s an ongoing coup going on in Turkey right now,” Flynn said during remarks. Turkey, Flynn warned, had begun “to move toward Islamism.”

“This is Turkey under Erdogan ― who is actually very close to President [Barack] Obama,” Flynn said, speaking at the Cleveland chapter of ACT for America, a group that describes itself as “the [National Rifle Association] of national security.”

But after his abrupt about-face, Flynn said Erdogan’s only real problem is this guy:

Fethullah Gülen, a shady Islamic mullah residing in Pennsylvania whom former President Clinton once called his “friend” in a well circulated video.

Trump’s Focus on Generals for Top Jobs Stirs Worries Over Military’s Sway

Donald J. Trump (http://www.nytimes.com/topic/person/donald-trump?inline=nyt-per) ran for president boasting that he knew more about fighting terrorists than America’s generals.

But now that Mr. Trump is the president-elect, he is spending a great deal of his time with retired generals, and those of a particular breed: commanders who, when they served, were often at odds with President Obama.

One has been named as Mr. Trump’s national security adviser (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/18/us/politics/michael-flynn-national-security-adviser-donald-trump.html), and several others are candidates for coveted positions in his cabinet or are advising him on how to confront the world’s greatest threats. They would give his foreign policy a far more aggressive cast than Mr. Obama’s.

Turning to the retired officers reflects Mr. Trump’s preference for having strong, even swaggering, men around him. But it worries national security experts and even other retired generals, who say that if Mr. Trump stacks critical jobs purely with warriors, it could lead to an undue emphasis on military force in American foreign policy.

Trump's Top Commerce Secretary Pick Is a Billionaire Who Owned Coal Mine Where 12 Miners Were Killed

But Trump's commitment to out-of-work miners appears to have faltered, as his top pick (http://www.politico.com/story/2016/11/wilbur-ross-commerce-secretary-trump-231421) for Commerce Secretary is Wilbur Ross Jr., a New York billionaire who owned the now-defunct Sago mine in West Virginia where 12 miners were killed (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sago_Mine_disaster) in an explosion in 2006.

The blast and ensuing collapse trapped 13 miners for almost two days. Only one survived. At the time, it was the deadliest mining disaster the Mountain State had experienced in nearly four decades. (It was eclipsed in 2010, when an explosion at Upper Big Branch Mine, also in West Virginia, killed 29 miners.)

In 2004, the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration, a division of the Labor Department, slapped Sago with 140 violations (http://arlweb.msha.gov/drs/ASP/BasicMineInfonew.asp). Apparently, those citations didn't force Ross to improve his mine's safety: In 2005, MSHA cited the mine with even more violations, 208 total. Of those, 96 were considered "significant" or "serious and substantial." Barely into the following year, on Jan. 2, 2006, the deadly blast occurred.

Following the disaster, MSHA released a statement (http://arlweb.msha.gov/sagomine/SagoQA01182006.asp), saying:

MSHA became concerned that the Sago Mine's safety performance record was not as good as it should be. Mining operations at the Sago Mine more than doubled between 2004 and 2005, and the injury rate was significantly above the national average. This prompted MSHA to dramatically increase by 84 percent its on-site inspection and enforcement presence. ... several [citations] involved significant violations that were the result of high negligence (http://arlweb.msha.gov/sagomine/SagoQA01182006.asp).

The New York Post reported that former WL Ross & Co. executives put the blame squarely at their ex-boss's feet, noting he "had been intimately involved with the company that owned the West Virginia mine where 12 miners perished -- and he knew all about its safety problems (http://nypost.com/2006/01/05/n-y-exec-knew-of-problems-ex-honchos/)."

On the campaign trail, Trump described himself as the "last shot for the miners (http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/291041-trump-to-coal-country-this-election-is-the-last-shot-for)," saying he would be "an unbelievable positive (http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/291041-trump-to-coal-country-this-election-is-the-last-shot-for)." But the only thing that is unbelievable about Trump's position on coal mining is that he may put a negligent CEO in charge of the federal department whose mission is, in part, improving the living standards of Americans through "sustainable development (http://govinfo.library.unt.edu/npr/library/nprrpt/annrpt/vp-rpt96/appendix/doc.html)."

As Commerce chief, Ross would be in charge of a wide array of disparate federal agencies, including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the US Census Bureau, the Patent and Trademark Office, and the Minority Business Development Agency.

Trump -- who Purdue history professor Louis René Beres castigated for taking "an evident pride in his deep historical illiteracy (http://www.usnews.com/opinion/articles/2015/09/14/from-thomas-jefferson-to-donald-trump-how-far-we-have-fallen)" -- likely doesn't know that in 1825, his predecessor

Thomas Jefferson feared a "government of an aristocracy (http://founders.archives.gov/documents/Jefferson/98-01-02-5771) ... monied in corporations ... ruling over the plundered ploughman and beggared yeomanry."

Nearly two centuries later, Jefferson's fear is coming true.

IRS docs show Bannon paid himself, ‘Clinton Cash’ author and Breitbart from nonprofit fund

Steve Bannon accepted $376,000 in pay over four years from a tax-exempt charity he set up in Florida to investigate political corruption.

During that same four-year period, that charity also paid $1.3 million to two other journalists who worked for Breitbart News, which Bannon oversaw as executive chairman, reported the Washington Post (https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/trump-adviser-received-salary-from-charity-while-steering-breitbart-news/2016/11/22/75340778-af8a-11e6-8616-52b15787add0_story.html).

The nonprofit organization — which Bannon set up in 2012, when he was Breitbart’s executive editor — also bought $200,000 in advertisements from the conservative news website during the same four-year period, according to IRS filings.

The institute was funded with nearly $4 million in donations between 2012 and 2014 from the conservative Donors Trust and the Mercer Family Foundation

The IRS filings show Bannon was paid for 30 hours of work a week at the Tallahassee-based charity, while two of his Breitbart employees were paid for 40 hours of weekly work at GAI.

Wynton Hall, GAI’s communications strategist and a writer and social media chief for Breitbart, was paid $600,000 by the conservative nonprofit between 2012 and 2015.

He was promoted this year to managing editor of Breitbart, which served as a Donald Trump propaganda outfit during the election campaign.

Peter Schweizer, an at-large editor for Breitbart, was paid $778,000 by GAI between 2012 and 2015 as he researched and wrote “Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich.”

Conservatives Just Can't Figure Out Why Trump Chose Nikki Haley as UN Ambassador

http://www.motherjones.com/files/blog_nikki_haley.jpg

It's puzzling first because it's not clear why Haley would want the job.

And it's puzzling second because she has no foreign policy background and has criticized Trump in the past: (http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/442431/why-nikki-haley-donald-trumps-un-ambassador)

Haley is a woman, and she's the daughter of immigrants.

Trump wants a few non-white non-males in his cabinet, and he likely couldn't care less about the UN. So why not? He's not rewarding anyone and he's not worried about 2020.

Nor does he care that Haley is bizarrely unqualified for a job that dozens of people would kill for. He's just checking off a box.

Internet pans Trump’s Ben Carson HUD pick: ‘The guy didn’t know if the campaign he ran was a scam!’

Minutes after it was reported that Trump had offered Carson the job to head up HUD, critics on Twitter noted that Carson has no experience in the realm of housing development

More broadly, some critics said that Carson just isn’t fit for any cabinet position — especially since Carson’s own spokesperson said just last week that Carson is not qualified to run a government agency.

Carson said earlier this year that he believed that his own campaign may have just been a massive scam used by conservative consultants to line their pockets with money from gullible donors.

Trump offers housing secretary job to man who wants to gut law banning housing discrimination

It would be a bonanza for banks if he succeeds.

Carson, however, has not been completely silent on housing policy (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/jul/23/ben-carson-obamas-housing-rules-try-to-accomplish-/).

In 2015, he signed an op-ed in the Washington Times

critical of the Obama administration’s efforts to desegregate neighborhoods.

In that op-ed, Carson also

criticized a Supreme Court decision which left intact (https://thinkprogress.org/supreme-court-shows-surprising-willingness-to-combat-unconscious-discrimination-fc921a24b715#.r0rn893j2) a key provision of the federal law banning housing discrimination.

Carson believes that, despite this continuing discrimination,

the Fair Housing Act needs to be weaker.

In his Washington Times op-ed, :lol

the former surgeon labeled disparate impact suits “mandated social-engineering schemes,” and dismissed them as part of a “history of failed socialist experiments in this country.”

Carson also aligned himself with a dissenting opinion by Justice Samuel Alito, which would have eliminated such suits under the Fair Housing Act.

So Trump’s leading candidate to lead HUD, a man who may currently be considering a offer to take over that department, would prefer to gut the law preventing housing discrimination — a decision that would come at great cost to people of color, but would be a tremendous financial boon to banks.

Trump, Bannon Charities Looking Even Dodgier Than Ever

Shorter Washington Post: (https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/trump-adviser-received-salary-from-charity-while-steering-breitbart-news/2016/11/22/75340778-af8a-11e6-8616-52b15787add0_story.html?hpid=hp_hp-top-table-main_bannoncharity-620am%3Ahomepage%2Fstory) Trump advisor and

alt-right superstar Steve Bannon set up a charity in 2012 which was then used to pay nearly $2 million in salaries to himself and two other Breitbart writers over the next four years.

Bannon supposedly worked 30 hours a week for the charity while also working full-time for Breitbart.

The other two worked 40 hours a week for the charity.

How did they manage that? "They all work long hours," the charity's spokesperson said.

Well OK then! In other news,

Donald Trump's foundation admitted to the IRS in 2015 that it had engaged in illegal self-dealing. (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-foundation-apparently-admits-to-violating-ban-on-self-dealing-new-filing-to-irs-shows/2016/11/22/893f6508-b0a9-11e6-8616-52b15787add0_story.html)

It also admitted that it had done this in previous years.1

Trump denied this all through the campaign, but it was probably an oversight. After all, he just signs the forms, he doesn't read them.

http://www.motherjones.com/files/blog_trump_foundation_self_dealing.jpg
And in yet other news, the Clinton Foundation continues to have done nothing wrong, as near as I can tell. Funny how these things work out, isn't it

This presumably includes the Tim Tebow football helmet,

various enormous portraits of Trump,

fines paid to Palm Beach, etc.

These are all things the foundation paid for that Trump should have paid for out of his own pocket.

Four Terrifying People Who Are Meeting With Trump

1) Michelle Rhee

Although Rhee is in fact a Democrat, her position on education is anything but standard progressive policy. Rhee has been a vocal advocate for stripping taxpayer funding from public schools to give to private schools, instead. That's a plan that is totally in line with Trump's own education platform, too.

2) Jerry Falwell, Jr.

The president of the highly Evangelical Liberty University backed Trump to the point where even the students themselves (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/grade-point/wp/2016/10/12/liberty-is-not-trump-u-students-protest-donald-trump/) began to protest. Now there are rumors he may be rewarded with the job of Secretary of Education in return.
"Falwell tells local media that he and Trump met Thursday at Trump Tower to discuss the U.S. Department of Education and Falwell's potential role,"

3) Rep. Kris Kobach

Kobach is one of many names still being considered for potentially leading the Department of Homeland Security, but of all of them he may be the most worrisome.

"Kobach led the creation of NSEERS (http://michellemalkin.com/2013/04/26/a-national-security-history-lesson-for-marco-rubio/) after 9/11," reports the Conservative Review (https://www.conservativereview.com/commentary/2016/11/kris-kobach-for-dhs-secretary). "That's the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System that required higher scrutiny and common-sense registration requirements for individuals from jihad-friendly countries including Afghanistan, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Syria and Yemen, as well as other at-risk countries."

4) Mike Huckabee

While Huckabee in a Trump administration might not be completely awful (at least, not any more so than his other appointments), Huckabee as potentially the next Secretary of Health and Human Services (http://www.breitbart.com/2016-presidential-race/2016/11/14/exclusive-hogan-gidley-mike-huckabee-considered-commerce-secretary-state-trump-administration/)? That's beyond alarming. The HHS Secretary would be the one extensively working on whatever the GOP tries to replace Obamacare with, and

Huckabee is adamantly opposed (http://www.forbes.com/sites/rickungar/2010/09/17/huckabee-says-no-to-insurance-for-people-with-pre-existing-conditions/#cbc0220549b9) to people with pre-existing conditions even being covered.

Trump's National Security Adviser Facilitated the Murder of Civilians in Afghanistan

But the mainstream media view of Flynn's military record ignores his pivotal role in devising a targeting scheme that was the basis for an indiscriminate Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) campaign of killing and incarcerating Afghans suspected of being in the Taliban insurgency. The corporate media, which have never examined that dark chapter in the history of the Afghanistan war critically, have long treated the campaign as one of the few success stories of the war.

the target list that JSOC used for its "night raids" and other operations to kill supposed Taliban was based on a fundamentally flawed methodology that was inherently incapable of distinguishing between Taliban insurgents and civilians who had only tangential contacts with the Taliban organization. And it was Flynn who devised that methodology.

The "night raids" on Afghan homes based on Flynn's methodology caused so much Afghan anger toward Americans that Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, the US commander in Afghanistan, acknowledged the problem of Afghan antagonism toward the entire program publicly in a March 2010 directive.

We now know from reports of drone strikes in Pakistan that killed entire groups of innocent people that "pattern of life analysis" is frequently a matter of guesswork that is completely wrong.

Just took a look at the Common Core website. Are they serious? 1st grade: Compose two-dimensional shapes (rectangles, squares, trapezoids, triangles, half-circles, and quarter-circles) or three-dimensional shapes (cubes, right rectangular prisms, right circular cones, and right circular cylinders) to create a composite shape, and compose new shapes from the composite shape.

Why do they complicate matters with all these terms? These are 6 year olds. Stick to the basics. Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Decimals, Percentages, Ratios/Proportions - Algebra and then Geometry (that's when all that stuff above should be taught) - not in 1st grade to 6 year olds - no wonder we suck at math - they're confused.

President-elect Donald Trump’s selection of Rep. Tom Price to head the Department of Health and Human Services signals that the new administration is all-in on both efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act and restructure Medicare and Medicaid.

Price, a Georgia Republican who currently chairs the House Budget Committee, was among the first to suggest (http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/tom-price-reveals-republicans-eyeing-medicare-overhaul-in-2017) that not just the ACA but also Medicare are on the near-term agenda for newly empowered Republicans

Privatizing the Medicare program for seniors and disabled people and turning the Medicaid program for the poor back to the states are long-time goals for Republicans in Congress and the White House. They say the moves could help put the brakes on health spending.

Opponents argue, however, that both changes are aimed instead at shifting the financial burden of health care from the federal budget to states and individuals.

Democrats and consumer advocates say the changes would break a promise to guarantee health services made when Medicare and Medicaid were enacted in 1965.

“That is the explicit intent of these proposals, to cap liability and shift costs,”

“It’s about fixing the growth rate so they can be certain of a lower federal commitment to health care.”

:lol Republicans, however, say in the face of rising federal deficits, it would be irresponsible not to rein in the programs’ spending. :lol

:lol “We have a moral obligation :lol to the country to do this,” House Speaker Paul Ryan :lol (Catholic) Repugs? morality? :lol

Trash and the Repugs gonna fuck Trash's voters so damn deep and hard. Shittier health care for much high patient costs.

Price wants to cancel ALL ACA's Medicaid expansion, which primarily screws blue states, since only a couple reds/slave states expanded Medicaid.

Morons who voted for Republicans now worry they will take away their health care—as promised (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/11/29/1605167/-Morons-who-voted-for-Republicans-now-worry-they-will-take-away-their-health-care-as-promised)

People in poverty-stricken Clay County [Kentucky] worry about what will happen to their health care if Gov. Matt Bevin's and President-elect Trump's ambitions to overhaul Medicaid proceed.

In Clay County, 60 percent (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/11/20/1602221/-Clay-County-KY-a-window-into-the-devastation-of-Trump) of residents are covered by Medicaid.

They voted for Republican Matt Bevin 71-27, and for Donald Trump 86-11.

Neither Bevin, nor Trump, made their opposition to Obamacare secret.

So how does that happen? Because of shit like this (http://www.kentucky.com/news/politics-government/article45093165.html):

"If anything changed with our insurance to make it more expensive for us, that would be a big problem," [Lisa] Botner, a community college student, said Friday at the Owsley County Public Library, where she works. "Just with the blood tests, you're talking maybe $1,000 a year without insurance."

But then ol’ Lisa Botner voted GOP.

"I'm just a die-hard Republican," she said

Moron. And don’t tell me this was about economic insecurity, because she literally

voted to make her economic situation more insecure. It’s what happens when racism and xenophobia trump economic self-interest.

not fake at all.

The new KY Repug governor has been figuring out how to screw up the Dem Governor's excellent KYnect (ACA local exchange) and Medicaid. KY's poor people, who voted in Repug gov and Trash, are gonna get screwed bad.

There was a funny story about a KYnect person at a fair or expo recruiting people into KYnect. The poor fucker said about Kynect that it sounded pretty good, and a hell of of lot better than Obamacare. :lol Kynect is KY's name for their implementation of Obamacare.

America’s village idiot could soon be in charge of taking care of America’s veterans.

Donald Trump has been stocking his administration with racists and extremist government insiders but their collective IQ is not low enough apparently, so he is considering picking Sarah Palin as the next Secretary of Veterans Affairs despite the fact that she has zero experience running a department, has never been in the military, and quit her last government job halfway through her term.

ABC News reports that Trump is seriously considering Palin for the post.

President-elect Donald Trump announced Wednesday that former Goldman Sachs partner Steven Mnuchin—a man described (https://newrepublic.com/article/133368/donald-trumps-finance-chair-anti-populist-hell) as "the anti-populist from Hell"—is his pick for Treasury secretary.

His appointment, according to (http://www.politico.com/story/2016/11/elizabeth-warren-trump-treasury-231979%20) Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), "should send shivers down the spine of every American who got hit hard by the financial crisis." Mnuchin, she added, "is the Forrest Gump of the financial crisis—he managed to participate in all the worst practices on Wall Street."

Warren and other critics of his appointment say Mnuchin's background—including running a bank described as "a foreclosure machine"—is further evidence (http://www.commondreams.org/news/2016/11/16/sanders-warren-trump-you-promised-drain-swamp-so-do-it) that Trump has no intention of fulfilling his campaign promise to "drain the swamp" of corporate lobbyists and Wall Street executives.
"This isn't draining the swamp—it's stocking it with alligators,"

Wall Street Journal wrote (http://www.wsj.com/articles/trump-plans-to-name-steven-mnuchin-as-treasury-secretary-1480459950) that "Mnuchin's Wall Street pedigree presents a stark contrast with the populist themes Mr. Trump struck in his campaign, railing against big banks and vowing to close tax loopholes that benefit hedge funds."

Mnuchin and his partners bought IndyMac ... ,

they sold it last year for a profit, estimated at close to $1.5 billion. ...

profit was made on the backs of suffering California homeowners.

"In essence what they did is they bought a foreclosure machine,"

OneWest foreclosed on more than 36,000 homeowners under Mnuchin. During that time, the FDIC made payments to OneWest totaling more $1 billion.

Even among the many bad actors in the national foreclosure crisis, OneWest stood out. It routinely jumped to foreclosure rather than pursue options to keep borrowers in their homes; used fabricated and "robo-signed" documents to secure the evictions; and had a particular talent for dispossessing the homes of senior citizens and people of color.

"Trump's supporters did not vote for him to put a second-generation Goldman Sachs banker who made a fortune foreclosing on working families' homes in charge of the economy,"

like Trump, knows how to leverage their economic distress for personal profit."

Conspiracies And ‘Witch Doctor’ Obama: Tom Price’s Ties To The Medical Fringe

http://a5.img.talkingpointsmemo.com/image/upload/w_652/jwavi5cxynlviktmum5q.jpg

President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Department of Health and Human Services is a member of a far-right medical group that peddles conspiracy theories, and has ties to an anti-health care reform activist infamous for sharing a racist image of President Obama on a Tea Party email listserv.

AAPS, established in 1943, aims (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/19/business/19physicians.html) “to fight socialized medicine and to fight the government takeover of medicine” and in its statement of principles urges members to refuse to treat Medicare patients (http://www.aapsonline.org/brochures/princip.htm), reasoning

government involvement in healthcare is “evil” and “immoral." The group also rejects (http://www.aapsonline.org/testimony/mandvac.htm) required vaccination programs in schools.

The group's publication, the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, also has publicized a variety of dubious or debunked medical theories over the years.

One 2005 article (http://www.jpands.org/vol10no1/cosman.pdf) in AAPS' journal advocated for rescinding the citizenship of so-called “anchor babies,” or the children of undocumented immigrants, who it claimed were responsible for increased leprosy rates.

Other articles pushed the myth of a link between vaccines and autism (http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/An%20article%20posted%20on%20AAPS%E2%80%99%20websi te%20speculated%20that%20President%20Obama%E2%80%9 9s%20oratory%20could%20in%20fact%20be%20a%20form%2 0of%20hypnosis.An%20article%20posted%20on%20AAPS%E 2%80%99%20website%20speculated%20that%20President% 20Obama%E2%80%99s%20oratory%20could%20in%20fact%20 be%20a%20form%20of%20hypnosis.), suggested a link between abortion and breast cancer (http://www.jpands.org/vol8no2/malec.pdf), and questioned the relationship between HIV and AIDS (http://www.jpands.org/vol12no4/bauer.pdf).

The group also once urged the U.S. Supreme Court (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/19/business/19physicians.html) to release post-mortem photos of Vince Foster, the Bill Clinton White House counsel whose suicide conspiracy theorists believe actually was an assassination.

An article separately posted on AAPS’ website (http://www.aapsonline.org/newsoftheday/0089) even speculated that

President Obama’s oratory could in fact be a form of hypnosis, suggesting that he won the presidency by hypnotizing impressionable voters like young people and Jews.
The group's executive director, Dr. Jane Orient, on Thursday declined to verify Price's membership in an email and referred TPM to Price's office. However, Orient confirmed to Stat News (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/stat/meeting-with-trump-embold_b_13354010.html) that Price's membership was indeed current.

In March 2009, the AAPS published an angry press release (http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/aaps-doctors-white-house-healthcare-prom-invitations-lost-in-the-mail-61737727.html) responding to its exclusion from a White House health care summit.

more on extremist asshole Tom Price

"As for coverage of pre-existing medical conditions — a key element of the current law, requiring insurers to sell plans to those with health problems — Mr. Price’s bill has that protection only for those who maintained continuous health coverage (http://www.vox.com/2016/11/28/13772342/trump-tom-price-obamacare) with any insurer for the previous 18 months. This means that

insurers would not be required to sell an affordable plan to anyone who did not have coverage for, say, a month while he or she was between jobs."
Beyond his commitment to tearing apart the health care law (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/health/diseasesconditionsandhealthtopics/health_insurance_and_managed_care/health_care_reform/index.html?inline=nyt-classifier), Mr. Price, who leads the House Budget Committee, published a budget proposal (http://budget.house.gov/uploadedfiles/fy16budget.pdf) last year that would convert Medicaid into a block grant to state governments.

This would reduce federal spending on the program by 34 percent by 2025, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (http://www.cbpp.org/blog/proposed-medicaid-block-grant-would-add-millions-to-uninsured-and-underinsured).

Such a cut would inevitably cause states to offer fewer benefits and reduce the number of people covered, far beyond the 14 million who would lose their coverage if Medicaid expansion is rolled back.
Mr. Price also supports big changes to Medicare that could hurt older Americans by increasing their health care costs.

A plan backed by Mr. Price and the House speaker, Paul Ryan, would turn Medicare, which covers the cost of medical care for people over 65, into a program in which people would buy private insurance through what is known as premium support (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/24/us/politics/donald-trump-medicare-republicans.html). The idea is to turn Medicare into a voucher program, designed to limit federal spending while forcing seniors to bear more of the cost.

Given that most American families (http://www.epi.org/publication/retirement-in-america/#charts) have little or no retirement savings, this would be disastrous. It also stands in stark contrast to Mr. Trump’s campaign promise not to “cut” Medicare and Social Security (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/7/24/1550423/-GOP-platform-breaks-Trump-s-no-cuts-promise-on-Social-Security-and-Medicare).

Trump’s Treasury Secretary Pick Once Foreclosed on 90-Year-Old Woman Over 27 Cents

According to Politico (http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/trump-treasury-foreclosed-homes-mnuchin-232038), OneWest, a bank Mnuchin created in the aftermath of the 2007-08 financial collapse, once foreclosed on an elderly woman over a 27-cent payment error.

Two years ago, OneWest filed foreclosure papers on the Lakeland, Fla., home of Ossie Lofton, who had taken a reverse mortgage, a loan that supplies cash to elderly homeowners and doesn’t require monthly payments.

After confusion over insurance coverage, a OneWest subsidiary sent Lofton a bill for $423.30.

She sent a check for $423.

The bank sent another bill, for 30 cents.

Lofton, 90, sent a check for three cents.

In November 2014, the bank foreclosed.

A nonprofit legal service contested the foreclosure on Lofton’s behalf and asked for a jury trial last month.

CHRIS CHRISTIE ARRESTED FOR KEYING TRUMP’S LIMO

NEW YORK — A once-prominent political career came to a shocking end on Friday as New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was arrested for keying the limo of President-elect Donald J. Trump.

The incident, which rocked political circles in Trenton and Washington, happened in full view of the midtown-Manhattan crowds outside of Trump Tower, where the vandalized limo had been parked.

“Suddenly, this guy broke through security, whipped out his keys, and made a gigantic gash along the side of the limo,”

said Harland Dorrinson, a tourist from Missouri who witnessed the incident.

“Police started wrestling him to the ground, and I was, like, ‘Holy crap, that’s Chris Christie.’ ”

Fellow-Republicans reacted to Christie’s arrest with sadness and sympathy.

“This whole transition period has been tough on a lot of folks,” former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney said.

Across New Jersey, residents like Carol Foyler, of Teaneck, said that they were shocked by their governor’s spectacular fall.

“I never would have guessed that this would be the thing he’d go to jail for,” she said.

Betsy DeVos has a disastrous education legacy in Michigan (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/11/30/1605605/-Betsy-DeVos-has-a-disastrous-education-legacy-in-Michigan)

The troubling stories about Betsy DeVos keep coming. DeVos, Donald Trump’s education secretary nominee, has no educational experience beyond spending her massive wealth to undermine public schools by sending public education money to private schools in the form of vouchers and to charter schools.

She and her family are major driving forces in Michigan’s laxness on “school choice,” and it’s been a disaster.

Bridge Magazine recently looked at how “choice” has spelled segregation (http://bridgemi.com/2016/11/betsy-devos-and-the-segregation-of-school-choice/) in DeVos’s hometown of Holland, Michigan:

In the two decades since Michigan adopted school choice, Holland’s white enrollment has plummeted 60 percent, with 2,100 fewer white students. Today, whites comprise 49 percent of school-age children living in the district, but only 38 percent the school population (Hispanics make up 47 percent of Holland schools). [...]

Many of those who left Holland’s schools didn’t go far. More than 400 students who live in the district now attend Black River Public School (http://blackriverpublicschool.org/), a charter where 74 percent of students are white. Black River is just over a mile from Holland High School.

Another 255 Holland students drive east to the Zeeland Public Schools (http://www.zps.org/), which are 77 percent white.

This is a direct result of policies pushed by the person Donald Trump wants to put in charge of education at the federal level. Another reason for the white supremacists to love him, I guess. And it’s not like all that segregation and privatization has helped even on the limited measure of test scores (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/25/opinion/betsy-devos-and-the-wrong-way-to-fix-schools.html):

… after more than a decade of Ms. DeVos’s getting her way on a host of statewide education policies,

Michigan has the dubious distinction of being one of five states with declining reading scores (https://midwest.edtrust.org/2016/11/21/michigan-falling-behind-nation-early-reading/).

'They Are Both Profiteers': Meet The Two Most Repellent Reptiles to Slither into Trump's Swamp

Steven Mnuchin and Wilbur Ross will bleed the country dry.

Mnuchin has deep ties on Wall Street, including working as a partner for Goldman Sachs, and his hedge fund played a role in the housing crisis after it scooped up the failing California bank IndyMac in 2008.

Trump’s commerce secretary pick, Wilbur Ross, is a billionaire private equity investor who specializes in flipping bankrupt companies for profit, often buying the U.S. companies at low prices and then selling them to overseas investors. He and his companies have sometimes shipped jobs and factories overseas—practices Donald Trump has railed against.

Mnuchin’s hedge fund also played a role in the housing crisis after it scooped up the failing California bank IndyMac in 2008. Under Mnuchin’s ownership, IndyMac foreclosed on 36,000 families, particularly elderly residents trapped in reverse mortgages. Mnuchin was accused of running a foreclosure machine. People protested outside his home. The bank, which was renamed OneWest, was also accused of racially discriminatory lending practices. In 2015, Mnuchin sold the bank for $3.4 billion, $1.8 billion more than he bought it for.

Ross specializes in flipping bankrupt companies for profit, often buying the U.S. companies at low prices, then selling them to overseas investors.

He, too, had a role in the foreclosure crisis. In 2007, Wilbur Ross bought the second-largest servicer of subprime loans in America, a company called American Home Mortgage Servicing.

they are both—I call them profiteers because they, like most banks and mortgage servicing companies, just profited from the lack of attention to the foreclosure crisis at the federal level. Mnuchin foreclosed on 36,000 people—in California alone. He foreclosed on much more through OneWest Bank, where he was CEO.

And Wilbur Ross, through American Home Mortgage Servicing, which eventually became a company called Ocwen, also did so, and they did so illegally.

These were fraudulent foreclosures, where fake documents were used to prop up those foreclosures.

There are depositions with individuals from OneWest Bank saying that they spent 30 seconds looking at foreclosure files before signing affidavits that said that they knew everything in that file and reviewed all the business practices.

There were forged documents routinely from Wilbur Ross’s American Home Mortgage Servicing.

They were done by a third-party company known as DocX, where the CEO of that company actually is in prison right now, went to prison for five years for forging millions of mortgage assignments to be used as evidence in court cases all over the country.

wealthy cabinet members may be in line to duck out on paying hundreds of million dollars in federal taxes on capital gains.

Buried deep in Section 2634 of federal ethics laws is a tax avoidance maneuver called a “certificate of divestiture,” that allows incoming cabinet picks to sell off billions of dollars in assets — in order to avoid future conflicts of interest — much of them tax-free.

When former President George W. Bush selected Goldman Sachs CEO Henry Paulson top serve as his treasury secretary,

Paulson sold off approximately a half a billion dollars’ worth of Goldman stock and avoided what might have totaled over $200 million in capital gains taxes.

Trump's treasury secretary pick has a very different tax plan than his boss

Steven Mnuchin says his tax plan would offset any reduction in upper-income taxes with fewer deductions, something that bears little resemblance to any of the multiple plans President-elect Trump proposed during the campaign.

Mnuchin said, “Any reductions we have in upper-income taxes will be offset by less deductions, so there will be no absolute tax cut for the upper class.”

I don’t know what Mnuchin means by the upper class. However, the Tax Policy Center estimates (http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/publications/analysis-donald-trumps-revised-tax-plan) that under Trump’s most recent plan, the average net tax cut for the highest income 1 percent of households (those making $700,000 or more) would be $215,000 in 2017.

The top 0.1 percent, who make north of $3.7 million, would enjoy an average tax cut of more than $1 million, boosting their after-tax income by 14.2 percent.

McCaul at DHS would be hilarious. White supremacist/xenphobes, aka "conservatives", would be furious! :lol

Why this potential pick for DHS would be a huge reversal on Trump’s biggest campaign promise

The possible appointment of Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Tex. (F, 56%) to the position of Homeland Security chief may finally signal to Donald Trump’s most loyal supporters that the president-elect is not going to follow through on his chief campaign proposals of border security and immigration.

“We certainly hope that Donald Trump would not reward a deceptive pro-amnesty lawmaker like Michael McCaul with a Cabinet position,” William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, told the Washington Times (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/nov/29/donald-trumps-candidate-for-homeland-security-mich/) on Tuesday. “That would be very disappointing to all of us that believed his campaign promises to secure our borders and deport millions of illegal immigrants under current U.S. laws.”

Immigration hawks are particularly startled by McCaul’s 2015 Secure Our Borders First Act.

Critics say (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/nov/29/donald-trumps-candidate-for-homeland-security-mich/) the Texas representative’s co-authored bill ignored policy solutions to deal with the millions of people living in America illegally, like the administration’s “catch and release” policy.

After Benghazi, incompetent Trump pick Mike Flynn ordered his staff to prove Iran did it (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/12/4/1607175/-After-Benghazi-incompetent-Trump-pick-Mike-Flynn-ordered-his-staff-to-prove-Iran-did-it)

It is a high bar, but Trump's would-be national security adviser, Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, may be the single worst Trump pick so far.

He is the sort of paranoid dimwit who would eagerly get us into a shooting war for the sake of getting into a shooting war (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/03/us/politics/in-national-security-adviser-michael-flynn-experience-meets-a-prickly-past.html?smid=tw-nytimes&smtyp=cur&_r=0).

Days after Islamist militants stormed the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012, Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn reached a conclusion that stunned some of his subordinates at the Defense Intelligence Agency: Iran had a role in the attack, he told them.

Now, he added, it was their job to prove it — and, by implication, to show that the White House was wrong about what had led to the attack.

So faced with a genuine act of terrorism that claimed American lives, Mike Flynn's official reaction as intelligence gatherer was to brush aside work to determine who was behind the attack and order his staff to prove his own preferred theory.

That he was booted from his previous intelligence job for take-your-pick has so far been glossed over by the Trump crowd, but there is information enough to deduce the man is a military version of Trump himself.

Mr. Flynn said that the first thing everyone needed to know was that he was always right.

His staff would know they were right, he said, when their views melded to his. [...]

Some also described him as a Captain Queeg-like character, paranoid that his staff members were undercutting him and credulous of conspiracy theories.

That last bit is evident from his own comments. The man is clearly not playing with a full deck.

Nevertheless, it still doesn't seem likely the entire collected Republican Party has either the remaining dignity or remaining expertise to object to Flynn.

Buyer's remorse begins (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/12/2/1606422/-Buyer-s-remorse-begins)

The AP has a story about a Trump voter that lost her property due to foreclosure by Mnuchin. As I predicted yesterday.

Those foreclosures screwed a lot of people including many Trump voters.

Perhaps they will learn not to vote against their own interests.

Will this be the first of many such stories? I can hope.

How might one get a list of people foreclosed by OneWest, reportedly thousands, to find more examples of this buyers remorse?

When Donald Trump named his Treasury secretary, Teena Colebrook felt her heart sink.

She had voted for the president-elect on the belief that he would knock the moneyed elites from their perch in Washington, D.C. And she knew Trump's pick for Treasury—Steven Mnuchin—all too well.

OneWest, a bank formerly owned by a group of investors headed by Mnuchin, had foreclosed on her Los Angeles-area home in the aftermath of the Great Recession, stripping her of the two units she rented as a primary source of income.

"I just wish that I had not voted," said Colebrook, 59. "I have no faith in our government anymore at all. They all promise you the world at the end of a stick and take it away once they get in.”

Ben Carson’s Opposition To Obama’s Desegregation Plan Is Incoherent

Carson opposes President Barack Obama’s new rules intended to strengthen enforcement of the 1968 Fair Housing Act and reduce the number of people that live in segregated communities.

“In an opinion article in 2015 for The Washington Times (https://ourfuture.org/20161205/%22http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/jul/23/ben-carson-obamas-housing-rules-try-to-accomplish-/), Mr. Carson compared an Obama administration housing regulation to ‘the failure of school busing’ because it would place affordable housing ‘primarily in wealthier neighborhoods with few current minority residents.'”

1. Carson Is Wrong on Busing

2. Carson Admits That The Fair Housing Act Helped Combat Racist Policies

3. Carson Does Not Know What “Tortured Reading” Means

As Carson himself acknowledged, only combating explicit discrimination doesn’t fully resolve the problem of segregation. With rich data that captures the “disparate impact” of past policies, whether or not there was racist intent, localities can craft better desegregation policies.

But Carson refuses to connect his own dots. Instead he concludes by saying,

“There are reasonable ways to use housing policy to enhance the opportunities available to lower-income citizens” … then fails to say what those other policies would be.

Now he has a chance to show us what ideas he had in mind, if he has anything in mind at all.

BEN CARSON WARNS THAT BIBLE MAKES NO MENTION OF HOUSING OR URBAN DEVELOPMENT

http://www.newyorker.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Borowitz-Carson-HUD-1200.jpg

WASHINGTON — In his first public statement since Donald Trump chose him to be the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Ben Carson said on Monday that the Bible “makes absolutely no mention of housing or urban development.”

Carson said that, when Trump initially asked him to accept the post, “the first thing I did was check the Bible to see if there was anything about housing or urban development in there, and much to my dismay there was not.”

“As you can well imagine, I did not want to be in charge of something that the Bible does not condone,” he said. “But then I realized that

perhaps the Lord wants me to take this job so that I can banish housing and urban development from the earth.”

Carson offered no details about how he would eliminate housing, but said that

he was seeking advice from Trump’s pick for Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos. “She’s basically trying to do the same thing with education,”

he said.

The retired neurosurgeon said that he was looking forward to taking the reins at hud but that

he had “a lot of loose ends to tie up” before then.

“Right now, I need to find my shoes,”

he said.

DeVos at Education is meant to screw up Education and speed up the transfer of taxpayer $Bs to for-profit charter schools, destroying public schools. Remember the dept of Education was a Carter creation so it must be destroyed.

Carson at HUD is meant screwup HUD and fuck over urban non-whites. Hud was a Johnson creation so it must be destroyed.

It all fits into the VRWC strategy of destroying govt because "govt is the problem", and govt must be denied any chance to provide For The People.

Screw up govt at all levels and privatize everything for-profit, distributing taxpayer wealth to capitalists.

Biollionaire school-privatizer DeVos is key to this strategy

Vouchers, Home Schooling, Virtual Education -- Conservatives’ Wish List

At a recent national conference, right-leaning education advocates spelled out a sweeping agenda that could shift the nation’s focus sharply away from public schools.

These are heady times for free-market education reformers. Republicans control Congress, GOP governors will lead 33 states, the vice-president elect is a champion of private school vouchers, and a conservative Supreme Court might soon have the power to thwart teacher union power irreparably. Best of all for the school choice crowd, billionaire GOP donor Betsy DeVos, a leading advocate of education reform, has been nominated to head up the Education Department.

“Be big, be bold, or go home,” urged Bush in a welcome speech that exuded the confidence and eagerness of his audience. A recurring conference theme and mantra was “choice.” But choice for these reformers revealed itself to be an ever-moving target. Some speakers said things like: “We’re not about school choice, we’re about education choice.” Others insisted that “instructional choice is the new school choice.”

This was all connected to another conference theme, the notion of schooling in a "post-facility" world.

Indeed a major goal for conservative education reformers is to push so-called education savings accounts (ESAs), voucher-like subsidies that can fund not just private school tuition, but also things like tutoring and home schooling.

In theory, additional money to pay for educational expenses sounds like a great way to level the playing field between well-off and low-income students. Children from wealthy families take advantage of all sorts of costly educational opportunities outside of school, such as summer enrichment programs, sports teams, and private tutoring.

But at least as they’re currently conceived (http://www.ncsl.org/research/education/the-next-generation-of-school-vouchers-education-savings-accounts.aspx), education savings accounts are more about redirecting (http://www.politico.com/story/2015/02/state-education-savings-accounts-taxpayers-114966) existing per-pupil funds away from public schools, not so much about supplementing public school students with additional money.

In that sense, ESAs differ from cash supplements like child allowances, which are social security payments distributed to parents to help shoulder the cost of child-rearing

multiple research (https://www.the74million.org/article/study-online-charter-schools-not-making-the-grade) studies that conclude virtual charter schools produce far worse academic outcomes for kids than traditional public schools.

the bottom line as DeVos takes the helm of federal education in the Trump era will be dollars

—how they get spent, and whether charters, private schools, home schooling, and virtual education come at the expense of families in traditional public schools.

DeVos has yet to be confirmed, of course. But the newly emboldened conservative education movement has signaled that, for better or worse, big changes are ahead for public schools.

http://prospect.org/article/vouchers-home-schooling-virtual-education-conservatives%E2%80%99-wish-list

America is so fucked by VRWC, and unfuckable.

Trump Press Secretary Finalist Calls Global Warming a ‘Wealth Redistribution Scheme’

It's "a massive wealth redistribution scheme. It's also a critical part of secular progressivism where they turn the environment into god."

Sometimes, the stupid hurts so bad.

Appearing on Fox News’ Hannity, White House Press Secretary finalist Monica Crowley told Sean Hannity that global warming hype is

“a way of separating Americans and westerners from god and organized religion, and it’s also a wealth redistribution scheme.”

Bet you’re remembering Dana Perino fondly now, able to lie through her teeth on behalf of George W. Bush while still (mostly) sounding sane.

Crowley has managed to convince herself that worrying about destroying our sole habitat in the entire universe, turns earth into God.

she seems to be saying that liberals and progressives want to turn scientific fact into religious belief. And that’s not true. Religion doesn’t enter into it. This is a scientific problem, one no amount of belief or prayers will change.

One fact emerges from all her fantasies:

Based on Crowley’s devotion to make-believe, she is the perfect choice for White House Press Secretary in a Trump administration, where no fact will survive contact with Trump Tower…er, the White House.

‘I’m Watching a Clown Show!’: Ex-CIA Official Goes on a Tear Against Flynn

Former CIA official and current CNN counterterrorism analyst Philip Mudd got pretty heated tonight talking about Lt. Gen. Michael Flynnbeing chosen by Donald Trump as national security advisor.

He recalled the people who have served in that capacity in previous administrations and then went after Flynn for the “lock her up” campaign rhetoric (http://www.mediaite.com/tv/rnc-crowd-chants-lock-her-up-as-flynn-trashes-hillary-clinton/) and his past comments about Muslims (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/checkpoint/wp/2016/11/18/trumps-new-national-security-adviser-has-said-some-incendiary-things-on-the-internet/?utm_term=.36ffc96238a5).

Mudd finally brought up Flynn’s son tweeting about a conspiracy theory (http://www.mediaite.com/online/jake-tapper-rips-into-flynn-jr-over-pizzagate-does-someone-have-to-die-before-you-take-this-sht-seriously/) before saying this:

“I’m watching a clown show! I’ve had it with this,

Wolf! I want to see a transition from a campaign to reality,

and I don’t see it yet.”

GOP Forces Dems To Allow Rushed-Mattis Waiver Or Risk Shutdown

Republicans tucked a measure intended to expedite the confirmation of Gen. James Mattis to be secretary of defense into a must-pass Congressional spending bill late Tuesday.

The measure would essentially (http://docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/20161205/CPRT-114-HPRT-RU00-SAHR2028.pdf) limit debate on a waiver that is needed in order for retired Gen. Mattis to serve as secretary of defense.

Under current law, the Department of Defense cannot be run by an individual who has served in the military in the last seven years. The waiver would allow Mattis to serve in that role even though he has only been out of the military for three years.

the waiver required to approve Mattis still needs 60 votes to pass, essentially making him subject to a 60 vote threshold.

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/gop-includes-provision-to-expedite-confirmation-of-mattis-in-the-cr?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+tpm-news+%28TPMNews%29

Trump's National Security Advisor sent 16 fake news (propaganda) stories on social media (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/12/6/1607831/-Trump-s-nominee-for-National-Security-Advisor-sent-16-fake-news-propaganda-stories-on-social-media)

http://images.dailykos.com/images/330574/story_image/GettyImages-623852576.jpg?1479757969

Donald Trump has hired someone who has spread fake news throughout the presidential campaign: (http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/michael-flynn-conspiracy-pizzeria-trump-232227)

As Donald Trump’s national security adviser, retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn will have to advise the president of the veracity of foreign and domestic threats, separating those that require immediate policy action from propaganda or misinformation.

But Flynn himself has used social media to promote a series of outrageous conspiracy theories about Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama and their inner circles in recent months —

pushing dubious factoids at least 16 times since Aug. 9, according to a POLITICO review of his Twitter posts.

Flynn, who has 106,000 Twitter followers, has used the platform to

retweet accusations that Clinton is involved with child sex trafficking and

has "secretly waged war” (https://twitter.com/Darren32895836/status/786686648520015872) on the Catholic Church, as well as charges that

Obama is a “jihadi” (https://twitter.com/AmyMek/status/785350953666871296) who “laundered” money for Muslim terrorists.

Now some say Flynn’s fondness for spreading fake news casts doubt on his fitness to serve as the White House’s national security adviser,

suggesting that

he either can’t spot a blatant falsehood or

is just ideologically bent to believe the worst of his perceived enemies.

There is another name for fake news: propaganda. Much of it sponsored by Russia: (https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/russian-propaganda-effort-helped-spread-fake-news-during-election-experts-say/2016/11/24/793903b6-8a40-4ca9-b712-716af66098fe_story.html?utm_term=.a97d937028a3)

The flood of “fake news (https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/why-facebook-and-google-are-struggling-to-purge-fake-news/2016/11/15/85022897-f765-422e-9f53-c720d1f20071_story.html)” this election season got support from a

sophisticated Russian propaganda campaign that created and spread misleading articles online with the

goal of punishing Democrat Hillary Clinton,

helping Republican Donald Trump and

undermining faith in American democracy, say independent researchers who tracked the operation.

Russia’s increasingly sophisticated propaganda machinery — including

thousands of botnets,

teams of paid human “trolls,” and

networks of websites and social-media accounts —

echoed and amplified right-wing sites across the Internet as they portrayed Clinton as a criminal hiding potentially fatal health problems and preparing to hand control of the nation to a shadowy cabal of global financiers.

The effort also sought to heighten the appearance of international tensions and promote fear of looming hostilities with nuclear-armed Russia.

Either

Flynn fell for the propaganda hook, line and sinker and was unable to differentiate between real news and propaganda—

or,

he intentionally sent out propaganda and false information to the public.

In either case, it is disqualifying for a role in national security. Period. End story.

Fucking Oklahoma Attorney General Who Is Suing The EPA Picked By Trump To Head EPA :lol

President-elect Trump’s nominee to run the Environmental Protection Agency is Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, who has strong ties to the energy industry, is an outspoken critic of climate change, clean energy efforts, and federal regulation in general, and who is currently involved in multi-state lawsuits against the very agency he may soon be put in charge of.

Pruitt, who has been Oklahoma’s AG for six years, is among the attorneys general signing on to litigation alleging that the Obama administration’s Clean Power Plan (http://www.ago.wv.gov/publicresources/epa/Documents/Opening%20Core%20Brief%20-%20file-stamped%20(M0119247xCECC6).pdf) — which would, among other things, establish a nationwide limit on carbon pollution produced from power plants — violates existing federal law.

“The Clean Power Plan is an unlawful attempt to expand federal bureaucrats’ authority over states’ energy economies in order to shutter coal-fired power plants and eventually other sources of fossil-fuel generated electricity,” Pruitt said in 2015, per Bloomberg (http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2016-12-07/oklahoma-s-scott-pruitt-said-to-be-trump-s-pick-to-lead-epa).

During his presidential campaign, Trump declared that if he was was elected he would “scrap the Clean Power Plan,” which he described (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/23/us/politics/donald-trump-fracking.html) as a “war on coal and the war on miners.”

Linda Harvey Calls On HHS Nominee Tom Price To Crack Down On Homosexuality

http://files.rightwingwatch.org/uploads/lindaharveyd_0.jpg

Mission America president Linda Harvey today hailed (http://www.wnd.com/2016/12/will-tom-price-clean-up-feds-hivaids-program/) Donald Trump’s selection of Georgia Republican Rep. Tom Price to head the Department of Health and Human Services, and urged Price to use his role to

begin “dismantling” the “mythological ‘gay’ identity.”

Writing in WorldNetDaily, Harvey expressed hope that Price, who has a history of hostility (http://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/rep-tom-price-fears-negative-health-and-economic-impacts-of-gay-rights-bills/) to LGBT rights (http://www.advocate.com/politics/2016/11/28/trump-nominate-antigay-antichoice-rep-tom-price-hhs-secretary) and is a member of a radical HIV/AIDS denialist group (http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/2016/11/30/the-new-secretary-of-health-and-human-services-is-a-member-of-a-fringe-medical-organization-heres-what-that-means/),

will reverse the LGBT rights gains that took place during the Obama administration and use the federal agency, and the Centers for Disease Control in particular, to withdraw grants from LGBT-allied groups like GLSEN and Planned Parenthood,

end its use of terms like “males who have sex with males,” and

send the message to gay people: “Don’t have anal sex, period.”

Here’s Why Trump Picked An Ex-WWE CEO To Lead The Small Business Administration

Despite Trump's emphasis on McMahon's business acumen, the real reasons for the pick are likely more Trumpian than that.

http://15130-presscdn-0-89.pagely.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/0620trumppolicies01-701x483.jpg

McMahon helped bail the Trump Foundation out of debt in 2007, when she gave a whopping $4 million to the organization.

Thanks to her donation, the foundation was able to finish that year with $3.2 million in the bank and remain on a solid footing since – also, those massive self-portraits of Trump didn’t just pay for themselves.

More from the Washington Post (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/09/21/how-wrestlings-vince-mcmahon-may-have-helped-get-donald-trump-out-of-his-alonzo-mourning-problem/?utm_term=.9e2ed138a039):

The biggest single contribution came in 2007.

That year, Vince and Linda McMahon of World Wrestling Entertainment fame gave the foundation $4 million.

(The contribution is listed in the foundation’s tax filings as having come from WWE itself, which a representative of WWE told The Post is incorrect.)

Thanks to that contribution, the foundation ended 2007 with $3.2 million in the bank.

It had $3 million at the end of 2008.

At the end of 2011, it still had $2.1 million left over, having collected $6.8 million between 2007 and 2011 (including that McMahon money) and having given out $4.6 million to charities.

It’s all one big pot of money, so you can’t draw a clear line from one incoming contribution to one going back out, but without that McMahon check, the Trump Foundation would not have been able to make the contributions it made from 2007 through the end of 2012.

That’s right, McMahon helped keep Trump’s slush fund from going under.

The president-elect’s announcement that she will lead the Small Business Administration isn’t the result of thoughtful decision making on Trump’s part. It’s simply the latest indication that Trump values loyalty to him and his interests above all else.
