Lakers are definitely a playoff team in the West this year. Still, the fact this was such a struggle despite huge runs is an embarrassment for the Spurs. There should not be this many open threes given up, especially with Kawhi and LDN on the perimeter. Team needs to work on its focus.

It really must have been the knee (I was worried he was going to have a Tim situation with that knee affecting his offensive performance, jumpshots etc.) but he's come back playing well. I think Pop is going to have to manage his minutes carefully (Manu too. I know Pop didn't want to play him more than 20 minutes.)
With the Spurs bench being so young and rooks (I mean Laprovittola, Murray?) I don't know how Pop will manage it, but he's going to have to keep them both rested and healthy through the season.

He was very solid on defense TBH, otherwise you would have seen huge negatives when he was on the floor and he came out better than even until he was there in the last few minutes of the game... there weren't many shots to be had for him and that is fine, unless you want him taking shots from others TBH... bc that would make you kind of a hypocrite.

IMHO, at a minimum Pop simply must find a taker for Kyle before the trade deadline who can send us a 2nd PG. I love Patty, but he is capable of serving as a backup PG only against the league's bottom-dwellers. Barring a miracle, neither Dijon nor Lapro is capable of making any contribution this season.

I would not mind the trade... contrary to most I believe Kyle to be an NBA player and in a lesser team he'd get playing time and eventually find his niche. The team already has a lot of guards though so he's unlikely to be the trade chip IMO... Trading him for a guard depletes the Spurs forwards even more... but whatever.

Warriors are the most punk-able team since the Spurs can maul them inside unlike the Clips/Cavs. If they want to attacked Pau/Softridge on PnRs then they can dare Gaymond to beat them & one of them can hide on Iggy who is looking as washed up as 2013 Turnobili.:lol

Kawhi/Danny is also as good a defensive duo as you can have to check Dominos/Wardell. Just put Porker on Klay & bait him into post-ups which is better than him shooting 3s. The high tempo nature of the game also suits Patty/Simmons.

Best case scenario:
-Cripples finishing w/ the #1 seed & having to face a relatively healthy Memphis squad in the 2nd rd.
-Duds having to play a relatively healthy Jazz squad in the 1st rd.
-Spurs facing the Rockets in the 1st rd to work on their small-ball defense before they face the Duds.

Exactly how was the Warriors game fools gold when damn near every team they've played has been bullying them down low and crushing them on the offensive glass. Did you see the Warriors vs Raptors the other night? It came on before our game with the Kings. Agree with this. I like our matchup with the Dubs the most and don't buy into calling that first game a fluke. Danny wasn't even playing too. Spurs gotta hope bad luck continues to get the Clippers but you think at some point they stop choking/having bad luck ala 2011 Mavs.

The difference b/w the Mavs & Clips is that the Clips could be the #1 overall seed over the Duds while the Mavs were a 3rd seed in a conference where the Dick Jefferson Spurs were the #1 seed.:lol

If the Cripples had to face Grizz with the weight of the world on their back then they are bound to meltdown when push comes the shove. I doubt he's traded TBH but I said whatever bc I don't care, it might even be better for Kyle... but I don't see it bc they just don't have depth in their forwards aside of him and Bertans is a rookie with very questionable defense and has been making a lot of mistakes. On top of that he's got an injury history that you can't ignore. And Kyle won't fetch much better than Simmons or the 3 guards at the end of your bench, so you basically make the team worse, FWIW. Pop has also preferred lately to let a guard go for another guard, etc.

They have 3 rookie guards and Simmons... If you want better guards that's the direction to be looking, one of them would need to go.
