And Reddick scores 40.

Getting tired of arguing Butler>Thompson

Let alone Harden>Thompson

Shows you how 90% of NBA fans are casual.banwagoners.

Really looking forward to the big one: Warriors vs Clippers..

As much as I hate to say it as a Spur fan, this is likely a preview of Western Conference Finals barring an injury to one core player of the two teams or some unexpected vintage play from Parker/Ginobili..

IMO, this is a hugely important game for the Clippers against a team that has owned them more so on the mental side than basketball-wise..they just never seem able to close out against them..

The Warriors clearly gets up to play them with sheer vengeance and disrespect as evidenced by them running up the score in a pre-season 50-point blow out..

Doc has seen the blueprint on how to beat this team: attack the rim and pound them inside on the glass, so he better rein in his chuckers (Crawford/Austin); you are not going to win a shootout with those guys..It is now a match-up for Blake/Deandre to be maximized. you would be foolish not to with the best C/PF combo in the league..

One of the best current rivalries only cavs and gstate can top it....though okc vs state also has potential....Spurs have no rivals except in the fan base...all coaches except Phil kiss pop's rings and his ass ...
Since Bowen retired there is no obvious Spur to hate unless you are Brent Barry .. Spurs are respected or feared by everyone except Phil, ark Cuban and Jet Terry

Cuck Paul is probably going to try & duel w/ Curry rather than making it a slow grind half-court game by running the offense through Blake.

Cripples would most likely have to face the Grizz in the 1st rd (Jazz/Rockets; Cripples/Grizz; Spurs/OKC; Duds/PDX) who are most likely going to be rolling after the ASG break once they get Parson/Conley back.

Spoiler alert: he won't. Doc is a stubborn, dumb faggot of a coach. He's the same guy who gives big minutes to a 39-year-old Paul Pierce for "defensive purposes" and who refuses to play rookies even in garbage time. He will try to beat the Warriors in a three-point contest and we will get slaughtered by 30+. And the worst part is, just like the last few ass-whoopings, Doc won't learn a goddamn thing from it.

You have no choice but to run against GS, you can't play defense with the ball in your hands and make life easy for them on D. You have to run but be smart about it, you can't be turning the ball over when you have a 3 on 2 advantage on the break like the Clippers are doing.

The Dubs shot fine against the Spurs tbh; they can replicate the same outcome on defense. Question is can they get enough offense to win. It took 35 from Kawhi, 26 from LMA, and 17 from Simmons in the meat of the game to win.

Cripples have been the best half-court offense in the league other than the Cavs, they can't all of a sudden play 7 seconds or less as if they are the Rockets & expect to beat an elite team.

If GS controls the pace they win 99% of the time; you can't beat them at their own game. Slow it down, pound them inside, and don't turn the ball over. They've lost all their games the past few years in that fashion (except against the Rockets who actually managed to outshoot them).

To beat the Duds it requires mental toughness b/c they will make you pay for every mental lapse & they will make shots even if you defend them on a string for 23 seconds. The Cripples happen to be the most mentally fragile team in the league. A less talented team like the Rockets are a good matchup b/c they don't give a fuck about what happened on the previous possession & keep playing their game.

No, 7 seconds or less no. But if the chance presents itself they have to run. And they have to play at their normal pace on halfcourt sets, trying to slow the game down more than usual will only get them out of their rythm. Think of what the Spurs used to do with the Suns in the mid 00's.

Cavs beat them last season gunning with them. I'm not saying you should try to force the pace, I'm saying that if the opportunity is there to run you have to take it. And when the halfcourt offense sets in, you have to play at your normal pace, you can't be playing defense with the ball 'cause you are not going to score against them that way.

Great take Robz4000, and Simmons was massive opening day. I just recall the Warriors missing a LOT of wide open shots in that game, but I'm probably knee jerking to the Warriors performances over the past week and the Spurs iffy defense on their own end :lol

Cavs beat them due to a variety of factors tbh, not really from matching pace with them. I agree on the rest though, but you can't let the Warriors go on one of their 15-points-in-2-mins runs or the game is basically over.

Durant shot >60% that game, and while Curry was 3/10 from 3 he still had over 20 points and had like 8 assists; on top of that he usually is contained by the Spurs. Raymond nearly had a triple double as well. Only one who struggled more than usual is Thompson, but similar to Curry they can usually contain him. What really hurt the Spurs against them previously was how much their depth outplayed the Spurs', but now they don't have that depth. Still give the Dubs the edge in a series, but unlike the Cliplers I can see several scenarios where the Spurs beat them in a series.

I actually think the Spurs are better equipped to beat the Warriors as oppose to last year. Mostly because we have a lot more size (and TD was injured last season) and the Warriors lost a lot of size. I just think it's going to be awfully tough to beat them 4 times out of seven, but the Spurs ceiling for improvement is much greater than the Warriors right now, so there's that.

My point was that they SHOULD actually execute their top ranked half-court offense at its USUAL pace instead of slowing it down or speeding it up. The Cripples usually run when the opportunity presents itself usually w/ Blake leading the break. The Cripples actually get in trouble (turnover galore) when they play too slow which is why they choke away leads in the playoffs. WestBrick on the other hand gets in trouble when he plays too fast against a set defense.

Inexcusable that the Clippers tried to outgun them when they have such an overwhelming size advantage inside. Blake choking like a bitch is tough, but everyone was settling for jumpers instead of going to the rim and pounding the glass. The long rebounds for the Dubs also helped to fuel their offense.

The problem is that Dryamond isnt exactly any physical weaker than Blake and Deandre is not an offensive guy. The difference with the spurs is that you can raly both on Gasol and LA.

Paul not attacking as much as he should is the bigger question. Its tough for the clippers to just change styles. Its hard for any team.

They have all the tools to play the style that's proven to work best against the Dubs even with DeMonkey/Griffin's flaws, so its pretty alarming that they don't seem to practice it enough. As CN said this style they continue to try against the Dubs hasn't worked in three years now, so why not actually adjust a bit?

Honestly I think the Spurs never lost a psychological edge over them. Losing Tim might've lessened some of it, but listening to the team and their fans (sans the bandwagoners) they still saw the Spurs as their greatest obstacle. If anything winning that game gave the Spurs some mental edge; it'll be tough to top this season as their statement win.

I'm confident we can out-seed the Clippers; they just have too many poor losses against shitty teams; but it is going to be hard keeping up with Dubs without an injury to KD/Curry--too much firepower for the rest of league, tbh..
