Not sure I agree with this, at least against the Clippers.

At least we'll get to see how much of the turnover problems that have plagued this team is attributable to him.

I'm sure Fathead will step up in his place and bounce the ball off his forehead a couple dozen times.

Manu regaining his shooting stroke and getting into rhythm? Nope, how about an inexplicable 5 days off from Poop to cool him off..

Why the hell is he resting against the fuckin Clippers? not that we needed more guard mismatches against them..

Better to just sit him against Portland. That way he plays one game in a week and it gives the Spurs all their horses to get an important win against the Clips.

there were like a bunch of games to give him off (Nets/@Suns (B2B)/Pelicans) the past week, yet Poop chooses the one against an arch conference/seed rival....:rolleyes

I wish Manu would just rest the whole 70 games and come back late...

Play the last 12 games as preperatuon for the playoffs...

I wonder if Pop might be privy to insider information that we don't get on Spurs Talk? Injuries, team morale, game plans, etc.

All I hope/expect from Manu is two or three semi-vintage games (13pts/5ast/4rebs/2stl) against the Clips/Warriors for us to stand a chance..

If this happens, it will be his own version of Timmy "get on my back I am taking us home" road game performances vs LAC in the 2015 series..

His shot won't be affected. He can easily do shooting drills.

Hmm, I would have liked him to play at least one of the games.

On a side note, Portland are getting thrashed at home by Dallas. They're down 23 just before halftime. I thought they're tough at home? Why are they playing so bad? Anyone watched them?

They flattened the Spurs last year when Griffin was out.

Yep doesn't matter if Clips miss Paul or Blake, they still beat the Spurs with whoever they put on the court. Goddamn frustrating that it takes playing the Spurs for the Clips to get their shit together.

They're without Blake Griffin, who cares man. Yes Manu is important, but they're missing their 2nd best player.

Manu plays best when he's rested and they're playing 4 games in 6 nights. Let him rest up and have a great performance on xmas.

Going to be really bad if the Spurs lose to a Griffin-less Clippers team. It's happened before but the Spurs really need to take one while the Clipps are missing a key player.

Blake is out right? Not that a regular season December win or loss means shit, but the gauge is already fucked so who cares about the clipper game?

Don't worry, Griffin is out, so he won't be killing Aldridge this game

Pau is going to get raw-dogged by the Choke-P3/DeAndre PnR which they didn't have to milk during the first matchup b/c Blake raped LMA.

Maybe they'll limit his minutes and play more Dedmon instead?

Who am I kidding :lol

Worst defensive rating of any team the past decade.

Tonight just hammers down the fact the Spurs are a paper tiger team and likely for a playoff meltdown. There is no reason to be this dependant on a 39 year old Manu.

timtonymanu
12-23-2016, 01:20 AM
I can't hate Pop for making this call. Now was the time to see if Simmons/Fathead are capable, and just as we've seen so far, they're both just average players and not the successor to Manu.

You can hate him for not trying to find a solution until this year, among other things. Kawhi really should pursue a trade at this point; not a lot going for this franchise anymore.

12-23-2016, 09:02 AM
Clearly the starting backcourt production is just poor and Manu is not able to make up for them anymore.

Too bad Pop failed to see this during the preseason or the Olympics where Tony was very clear that he was going to be trash and Dany was not so worried about learning how to dribble a basketball.

This is ridiculous that this team is so depandent on 39 year old Manu. The bench looked absolutely ridiculous without him.

spursistan
12-23-2016, 01:55 PM
It is testament to Manu unique greatness that he is still this sneaky impactful, but really no serious title contender should be exclusively reliant on 39-year-old to unlock things for a 5-7 men bench unit :lol..
