The Gasol signing was a terrible move. Spurs were gutted the previous two years by the pick and roll against the Clippers and OKC. And their solution was to sign one of the worst PNR defender in the league? Absolutely incredible. It's not like Pau suddenly fell off a cliff this year. He demonstrated his horrible PNR defense every night on the Bulls.

Even Raymond Felton was slicing the Spurs up in the PNR.

Trying to sign him 2 years ago was a dumb idea.

Everyone here knows like I know that no matter how shitty Gasol continues to play, Popvich will NOT bench him. It's not happening

Kind of agree... and I think he takes possessions and touches from Lamarcus. Not to defend Lamarcus who has been missing in games with fadeways and shizz when he needs to bring an aggressive mindset but a lot of opportunities go to Pau as well. And Pau is an absolute sieve on defense. Him being a statue is an accurate description.

You couple that with Tony and it's a murder/suicide combo.

I agree. Playing alongside Pau is hurting LMA's game. Playing Dedmon gives LMA more touches and improves the defense.

Pop has got to convince Pau that if playing with the second unit was good enough for Manu then it is good enough for Pau. Aldridge/Deadman is a much better pairing - especially since Deadman, while not an elite passer, is much better than expected (as is most every aspect of his game).

Last year Duncan wasnt allowing LMA to thrive this year its Pau. Im thinking its not Duncan or Pau. Having said that LMA is driving more and settling less lately which is great. Im pretty sure his FTA are getting more which is also great because hes a good FT shooter for a big guy. Next is his "paint attitude" for lack of a better term. I saw LMA and Dedmon on the floor together and Dedmon got beat down low and LMA didnt help at all and didnt have a man to guard. Hes boxing out better though.

Pau's not the problem though, hes probably playing up to expectations because of his age.

We could win 70 games but if some of them were close and we lost 13 times to good teams then Spurs fans would like you to think it's fools gold
