Well yeah it's stupid but he has an obligation to make the Mavs as competitive as possible as long as Dirk is around. Dirk said he doesn't want to be on the team if they decide to tank. Similar to the Kobe situation. You could say Dirk is being a 'cancer' like Kobe but it's easier to sympathize with a guy who has taken paycuts and never demanded a trade in order to patiently wait for the owner to continually fail to build a contender and then IMMEDIATELY dismantle the team the one time they win the title :lmao Dirk is doing the same thing Duncan did but Duncan had the luxury of having a Kawhi Leonad step in and take over for the team.
