Why is he unwilling to play like that all the time? Hero-itis?

Pretty nuch. Dude will always have the tendency to hero things out. Sadly, we just have to accept this since Parker is basically popvich son.

We're probably going to lose Kawhi in his absoulote peak though.

I think he actually played his best when scoring. The game got close and he came in and got to the rim while others were taking jumpers.

Because sometimes other guys can't score.

There is quite a difference between Spurs fans and player fans. For example, I don't care how many shots Gasol makes or if he leads the team in scoring so long as he scores efficiently, I.e. Not taking 30 shots to score 20 points. I see guys here complain after the Spurs win because Parker took 10 shots while Kawhi only took 13. A Spurs fan doesn't care as long as the Spurs win. But player fans care. I guess that's why I don't understand the Parker hate and see it as irrational.

Most of the complaints about Pau aren't about him shooting. There are nights when Pau would have to shoot 100% to offset his matador defense on the other end.

There are times when Parker stands out on the perimeter and dribbles away most of the shot clock, and then puts up some terrible shot with virtually no chance of falling. When he's doing that, he hurts the team.

On those nights, the legitimate basketball fans bitch about it. And the OTHER player fans (especially the Parker-lovers) leap to their defense. Try and talk basketball and you're automatically aligned with one group of loons or another. It's a perfectly closed system.

Tony with high ASTs nearly always means a W. But he considers himself a shoot-first PG, not a pass-first.

I remember 13?-game win streak in nov-dec, 2003?, when Tony avg'd something like 10+ ASTs all the way.

ASTs are high when your team is shooting 75%, rather than 35%.

Yep, he should average 14apg, something that has not happened in 25 years.
