If I'm building a team: Kareem since he's somewhat redundant with Tim and Hakeem both being two-way players and Shaq being the most dominant offensive presence in NBA history

If I'm getting rid of the worst player: Kirbs

Exactly how I have them (well I'd probably put Kareem #1 and Duncan #2 but it's close). Kirby is a full tier below these guys.

LeBron at current pace could make a go at being the top of this list by retirement, but he's not there yet.

I feel like Hakeem is becoming a forgotten big of the 90s. He was clearly the best big man in that decade, and that says a lot.

Shaq had the most limited repertoire of all of them. He often had to be pulled late because of his anemic free throw shooting and pretty much only knew how to dunk offensively. He often come into camp out of shape to boot. He was a dominant force but worst overall basketball player in the purest sense of those six.

spotted the 14 yr old tbh

What? I've watched Shaq since he was breaking backboards in the early 90's. What made him so good was that he was a brute physical force, so much so, that he never had to work on his basketball skills. He had no jumper whatsoever, 60% free throw shooting was excellent for his laser beam shot and at least 70% of his field goals came off dunks.

He was the least skilled out of the six listed.

Shaq actually had a nice drop step, jump hook, and a few fakes and counterfakes in the arsenal. Despite being a brute, he was still more skilled offensively than most centers in the NBA currently.

Ya think this is a Spurs forum?

Shaq is, by far, the most dominant player ever to play the game. He was so good in 2000 and 2001 that the rest of the league just threw their hands up and said "fuck it".

The only player in the modern era that is comparable is Hakeem who was also pretty dominant with his size and agility.

Lebron just made his sixth straight NBA finals appearance and won two nba finals games by himself in 2015.

Kareem's sky hook was and is the most un-guardable move in NBA history. Wilt Chamberlin famously said he was the only guy he needed help to guard.

Oh yeah, Kobe. The guy who scored 81 points in a game and 71 through 3 quarters in another. He may have been an obnoxious, egotistical dick but he was a hell of a basketball player. He is a basically a god in Asia.

Tim Duncan....Are you fucking kidding me? The boring guy? The guy who lost to an 8th seed? The guy who lost a game 7 at home against the Mavs in overtime? The guy who never repeated?

Kobe couldnt make playoffs with Smush Parker and Kwame Brown.

CAPTAIN Duncan couldnt win gold medal with a team full of all-stars:

Again acting like Lamar Odom and Caron Butler didn't exist.

Hey, Duncan got kicked in the first round with DeJuan Blair and Ime Udoka.

While 8 is a terrible blemish on Duncan's career, it's not nearly as bad as being the lead player on a legendary franchise like the Lakers and missing the playoffs 4 times. Duncan never let his team miss the playoffs. Not once. Kobe did it 4 times. Including the last three years of horrible embarrassment that nearly sunk the whole franchise. You know, those years when he started high-fiving players on other teams when they were beating him and started publicly worshiping a different California team. You can't complain about 8 if your guy wasn't even good enough to be in that position--4 times.

^ Using the worst number for each peak category, let's see how many seasons the other players have better performance that the worst player to gauge the difference in performance

WS Peak:
Worst: Kobe Bryant at 15.3
Hakeem had 1 season > 15.3
Lebron 6
Kareem 6
Duncan 2
Shaq 2

WS/48 Peak:
Worst: Kobe Bryant at .224
Hakeem: 1
Lebron: 10 :wow (or only 4 that is lower than Kobe PEAK. Lebron’s AVERGAE was .240, his AVERGAE in Cleveland, that’s when he spent most of his OFF PEAK time, was .224
Kareem:10
Duncan:5
Shaq: 8 (I counted the one season Shaq had a .224. This could have been a 7 if you only count >)

BPM Peak:
Worst: Kobe Bryant at 6.4
Hakeem: 3
Lebron:13 :wow that’s 13 out of 14 seasons folks
Kareem: 7
Duncan: 5 (note, I included the year Duncan had a 6.4 as well, so it could have been 4 if you only count >)
Shaq: 4

VORP Peak:
Worst: Kobe Bryant at 7.1
Hakeem: 2
Lebron: :wow 11
Kareem: 4
Duncan: 2
Shaq: 2 (Shaq had a 7.1 season which I counted. Could have been 1 if I only count >)

Note: There were four years of Kareem's career where BPM and VORP were not available. Those were also statistically some of the best numbers of Kareem's career, so I would say the BPM and VORP comparison severely underestimated Kareem's performance compared to the worst of those categories.

Duncan never repeated PERIOD!

And lost a playoff series to an 8th seed.

And was captain of the team that bronzed in Athens.

Sorry Spurs fans, but theres no getting around the fact that Duncan allowed his teams to lose to inferior opponents.

Lets not forget losing a game 7 at home in overtime (in his prime).

that was the most cancerous team in history tbh. you could've gave these niggas 3 ball and they wouldn't be enough with iverson and marbury handling the ball.
