Peak Iverson was the quintessential chucker :lol

From 99-05 he never shot higher than 42% :lol

He's a legend because he revolutionized the crossover/made And 1 ball mainstream, was one of the first tatted up ball players, and he had iconic moments (practice, crossing Jordan, etc)

but at the the end of the day, he was a midget chucker who lived at the FT line just as much as James "the flopper" Harden

Fact that there are so many guards that put up these crazy stats when there weren't that many great guards in the history of the league tells you that the rule changes made those stats. guards are generally normal human heights so it's not like there was suddenly a huge increase in supply. I can see peaks and valleys in big men talent as it's uncommon to get to 7' tall, but supply of athletic 6 footers are abundent.

Still, beating that Lakers team in a Finals game single-handed deserves some kudos.

Nah, the NBA is just better, just accept it. More people watch basketball, participate in basketball at younger ages, have access to training methods and technologies which allow them to get better etc. America's population has increased by around 30 million since 2005, 80 mill since '90. You introduce 30 million people to a country, that's going to play a huge role in it's athletics. Worldwide it's increased by hundreds of millions.

Thomas isn't some sort of svelte guard like Iverson, Armstrong etc. he's got around 20lbs of muscle on these guys whilst having a 40" vertical, he's a mini tank. Don't know why people are comparing him to them in this thread, completely physically different.

That's why big men in :lol today's NBA can't make a simple reverse pivot, or how one of the leading MVP candidate can't even be a consistent outside shooter despite playing in the perimeter. Westbrook can hardly see the floor as a point guard, while a player like rose actually won MVP. Not to mention choke artists like durant and curry being the last three mvps with one of them literally throwing away the Larry obrien away with his behind the back pass. The only comparably choke MVP was pedo but he wasn't unanimous and only reason he won is because people are sick of voting for Jordan.

And :lol blouse.

rules favor some type of behavior -> players do that to maximize winning. The league sees the market of casuals who like big jumping monkeys and 3p chuckers and it sells this market what it needs by making sure these players succeed. It does this by altering the rules (5s key, illegal defense, handchecking, illegal screens offensively, dubious and1s). You think they care about basketball loving people? :lol they care about the hordes of asians learning the game, they care about hipsters, soccer moms, corporate losers, they care about revenue not the game. This is a basic business strategy, just oversell the same thing till the business product quality goes down, then you sell before the bust and it's a wrap. Hollywood is doing the same thing with monkey blockbusters.

I'd bet you that if you set the rules back to the 80s players/coaches would adapt in after a while. Same thing could be said for the 90s where players and coaches needed some time to understand the value of the 3p shot and the new defensive rules.

He still made the NBA finals alongside the likes of Eric Snow and Tyrone Hill in yesterday's NBA, tbh.

adjusting for pace, teammates and opponents lebron has probably had the hardest path out of all the goat players, imo he is very underrated by casuals. His ability to switch as big while being a perimeter superstar and a post-up option is just insane from a tactical standpoint. He won a ring with spolestra, went to finals with mike brown/snow/pavlovic/szerbizack/hughues :lmao. That's like free climbing with a prison ball chain on each arm and each leg :wow it's like penaldo or misty winning the world cup with a team like the usa tbh :lol

Regular season against a TERRIBLE team.

Jordan didn't need to score 82 to make another team his bitch. He destroyed them so thoroughly that the game was over.

Also, Jordan knew that making his team that reliant on him would end badly. And it did for Kobe.
