Really happy for him! We need his skill sets. Much different from Lee who's is also really playing strong. I think it will be interesting to see how deep Pop goes in the rotation in the playoffs and if shooters like Bertans will get PT. With a shot like that he could come in handy against teams like the Rockettes and the Golden Showers.

Am I balsam-goggling or is Bertans (and Bertsns too) moving pretty well on defense when out on the perimeter? Recently both he and LMA have looked surprisingly good in space.

PTR just referred to Bertans as the "Big Serbian." Um, guys, that was Boban....Good thing you cover the team. :lol

I would not be surprised to see Pop experiment against the Dubs in those 2 games in March and give Son of Red Mamba good minutes and see what he can do.

Lose a finger on your shooting hand? Still has a perfect stroke. Blow out your knee twice? Still can dunk so high the ball is at the top of the square on the backboard.

Spurs "max-dunk line up" LMA or Dedmon, Bertans, Kawhi, Simmons and, um, at point...Murray? He may be our only point who can dunk. :lol

Hoping this game is where he finds his confidence and hit shot. His 35% 3G, 17/48 3GA, needs a big boost when the team is shooting 40%+.

He's shooting just shy of 40% on 3 (.396) after this game and .441 overall.

Thank you Larry Bird.

Now if only we get to the point where people wonder if the Pacers got enough in Hill to trade away Bertans ignoring the Kawhi part of the trade...

Granted Bertans was selected after the pick was acquired so doubt Bird even drafts him.

In a way the Warriors could thank the Spurs for Draymond. They took Ezeli with the Spurs pick but grabbed Draymond later.

the best part is that Kawhi has been improving on SA, but Bertans has already arrived here as an ultra athletic wing, and one of the best shooters in the world

Serbian, Latvian - heck not one American in ten can identify either country on a globe! I wish you (or somebody) would send Sean and Bill - literally everybody who covers the Spurs - a tweet about the proper pronunciation of his name. It irritates me to no end that guys who cover the team don't have the sense to get the home guys' names right!

How do you pronounce his name? Is Davis pronounced the same way Anthony Davis' last name is pronounced?

What contract is he under?

Fully guaranteed two year contract, so not a FA until after next offseason. Even in that case, he'll be restricted so Spurs can match any offer he gets - though they won't have full Bird rights.

I remember Beno himself pronouncing his name with a breathy 'h' sound at the end, no hard 'k' sound.

With the accent on the second syllable and the "i" pronounced like an "e": da VEES.

Latvia is on the Baltic Sea. Nowhere near Serbia.

Here is a Latvian guy pronouncing the name. His accent is thick but that's how they'd say it in his native country.

Watching condensed video clips of a single player can identify trends and tendencies that aren't apparent when they are imbedded in the game and separated by other game action. In this highlight clip of Davis against the Hornets what really hit me was how many of those highlights involved Bertans and Simmons working together. They show an obvious synergy.

Hope Bertans can stay healthy for a long time and continue to grow in the Spurs system. Perhaps he also has something to do with Simmons' improvement. If so, I hope that impact continues, too. They sure look good together in those clips. :toast

That's what I'm referring to. They asked him on the telecast how to probounce his name, and he clearly pronounced it with a K.. I'm sure someone from there could shed some light on it

His impact on the team is unbelievable. We look much more capable on both sides of the ball when he's in.

Having length on the court is so fucking important and it shows.

True. He and simmons really worked well together yesterday. (Simmons lead the team in assists and Davis in scoring, not a coincidence) Hopefully we see a lot more of that pairing. :toast

Hope you saw the Latvian pronunciation of his name at the link I posted.
