I wouldn't even call the Spurs a top 10 defensive team, I don't get how the metrics seem to be saying otherwise. Maybe they were feasting on cupcake teams.

But, it's not like defense we're used to, but it's near the tops in terms of the way the game is played today. And there's still lots of time to improve. They don't play 48 mins of lockdown D anymore. But lots of times they'll have at least a quarter or 2 where they just take teams and locked them down. That might be as good as it gets tbh.

I think there are lineups Pop can go to for defense. Let's just hope he's keeping that under his sleeve for playoff time


Yeah, I keep hearing these arguments about how the game is played today. But, to me, defense involves getting stops. I keep seeing these quarters, halves, games, when the Spurs can't stop shit. I guess there are other times when the opponents aren't hitting anything, and the numbers average out. But if you can't impose your will and get stops, you're not playing good defense.

I guess I'm just living in the past.

They are a great duo for rebounding/hustling and doing lots of dirty work. This front court needed some nasty after Diaw/West struggled to end the season
