Spurs Training Camp:
On Thursday I went for the training camp. Saw them for a little bit from an upper window. I never realized how hard they trained. It was amazing. Basically they were training in small groups. Some balancing exercises, some running ones, and some weight ones. I remember seeing these round things that they were balancing on. Even Poppovich was training real hard. All those pictures that they show of him is real sweat people! :) He's in great condition for his age. I was amazed.
Towards the end of their practice they played five-on-five half court. Pretty physical stuff.
At the end, they basically laid around. Tim, Tony, Manu, and Bowen had ice packs on their legs. The rest really didn't. I guess they focused on them. They weighed in after their training and then ate. Lotsa interviews were going around. Around 2:45 they finally started to come out. I got a couple of pics of them. I'm still in the middle of uploading but give me a day and I'll be set.
Spurs Scrimmage:
The scrimmag rocked! The huge at the beginning of at least 500 people in front of me was made up for the second I set foot in there. The great thing was that since it wasn't a huge stadium you were really close to them no matter where you sat. We were in the second row and then in the first so it really was great. The pictures didn't turn out too great because of the lighting but they are clear enough for you to see who everyone is. I couldn't stop clicking so you may find some not nice pictures but I just decided to upload all.
During the scrimmage Bowen kind of got injured in his eye I think. You'll see a picture of him lying down. But he was alright after it.
Oberto's has some really good physique. I didn't think he was that tall but he really is. I know someone during the training said that he has lots of skill but no coordination. I really didn't find that to be true but he could use some more good practice.
The Spurs really have a great team going on this season. All the bench players can even be starting lineup players so it's a really great thing. I had a discussion though with someone down there and he felt that they have so many good players that it may cause problems for them with scoring etc. Hopefully they don't though. :)
All the new guys were pretty good. The name that seems to stick with me the most though is Stephen Graham. I know during the scrimmage he scored here and there. I really don't recall the others doing too much. Hopefully the right one will make it into the team.
Timmy played awesome! Two awesome dunks! So did Manu! He had some great shots driving in. As for Tony, the first half he didn't do too well but in the second half he really picked it up (and Eva Longoria was surely cheering him on when he scored). I'm actually a bit worried about Tony because it kinda seems the bench players are better than him. During the training he was like the only one missing his shots.
I'm also proud to say that Tim really did improve his free throws. Hopefully he can up his FT% now.
The scrimmage did end tight (85-84) with Tim's team winning which I'm sure everyone was happy about except me (Tony was on the other team) but it all worked out for the best.
Hopefully this season's amazing for the Spurs!:) They trained hard and hopefully will be able to repeat... They have the team... and the goal. Hopefully we'll have the mission accomplished again!
If you guys have questions or anything, please let me know. I'd be glad to answer if I remember clear enough.
I'm in the process of uploading still. By tomorrow I will surely be done. I'll post the link tomorrow for them. Sorry for taking so long but I'm getting back into my hectic schedule so it's been a bit busy. Plus my computer's just super slow right now (I'm still running on 500 Mhz). I'm going to send the video clips to Slomo by tonight also so hopefully those clips will be up soon.
