I dont watch obese ball, but I just looked at Bradys overall achievement and the patriots un during his time.

Why doesn't his individual accolades match his team success? Could this be another cases of American viewers not respecting consistency? As is with the case of basketball?

It would seem like a couple of sognificantly less accomplished players have earned more indovidual recognition

Brady is pretty widely recognized by NFL fans and media as the GOAT, tbh..

He's currently overshadowed by guys like Rodgers, because he isn't as good as him right now(and probably Matt Ryan), but Brady's career accomplishments are applauded by everybody..

He's had the GOAT coach, too, though, OP..

What level of accolades do you think he deserves? MVP is almost always a quarterback award, and Brady's prime has taken place in the same era as Regular Season Peyton and Rodgers, which limits the number of MVPs he's going to win. There are guys like Brees, Rivers and Ben who have never won it despite being elite QBs.

Got it. Just pretty rare how the GOAT of sport has the least amount of Season MVPs. I only follow soccer and basketball of course..both GOATs in their respective sports have significantly more individual accolades..

But i guess it doesnt matter when you get a certain point in your career.

Drew Brees is actually the best QB of the past decade & carried a mediocre D to a chip while beating Peyton/Favre/Warner along the way without throwing a single interception. He also has the most passing yards, TDs & completion since 2006.

As far as being the GOAT: Joe Montana is the best postseason QB who didn't pad his stats in the regular season ala Tim.

question, did the Patriots retool themselves as the spurs did or not?

yes, they were a 3-4 team based on defense and possession football early in Brady's career, now they're a 4-3 team based on running up the score and they've been this since about 2007

Some of the greatest athletes in the world play NFL football. A ton of Olympians have played NFL football. For every 300 pounder we have two 4.3 sprinters who are great athletes.

Tom Brady will be considered THE GOAT once he hangs um up. His stats, accomplishments will be second to none.

Right now his only real rivals are Joe Montana and Peyton Manning. He is on his way to surpassing both of them.

This could be 100 guys (can name them all)

https://usatftw.files.wordpress.com/2016/12/1_brady.png?w=1000It’s getting really hard to argue against Brady being the greatest quarterback of all time. He’s got the wins like Montana and stats like Manning. And we’ve never really seen a quarterback be this good for so long. Brady’s actually getting better as he inches closer to his 40th birthday. If he gets one more ring and continues to put up numbers, this won’t even be an argument.

He isn't just your average player that has been lucky to play the QB position for that system all those years, he has put up historic seasons #s wise and his efficiency improved even further this season despite losing his #1 guy to throw it to in Gronk and he is still elite/arguably the best at age 39.

It's gotten to a point where you simply can't dispute how great he is. Can't compare him to a Duncan because Duncan wasn't arguably the best player in the league in 2013/14 when the Spurs had their resurgence.

Look at it this way - won the Division almost every year of his career, 14 times as a starter won the Division in 16(?) years, made the Super Bowl now a record 7 times (2nd is someone you've never even heard of with 6), no NFL player has had this kind of post-season success. If he wins this year he is tied for most SB rings by a single player.

Haters are known to call him a "system quarterback", but the Patriots missed the Playoffs the year he went down with injury, went undefeated the previous year. :hat

His longevity isn't as appreciated as it should be, not many really wrap their brains around a guy who might end his career leading his team at an elite level for two full decades.

We simply see too many young posters on these forums with no clue at all about most things. If you know the NFL from an historical perspective how can Brady not be in the GOAT discussion? I saw Unitas, Tarkenton, Starr, Bradshaw, Namath, Montana, etc etc etc play, Tom Brady is as good as it gets.

Like I said, Montana is the best POSTSEASON QB. If we're are talking about stats then Peyton Manning is the GOAT.:lol

Good luck stopping '94 Steve Young when he has an elite receiver like Moss in an era where you couldn't bump receivers & where he could take off to escape pressure without worrying about getting crushed. Besides, the only thing that stopped Montana was a back injury sustained due to a hit that would have gotten a pass rusher thrown out of the league today.

Montana in the playoffs

16-7

Brady...24-9

Montana also got to play flawed AFC teams in the Super Bowl with dominant teams of his own. With the notable exception of the '81 team, Montana's championship teams were stacked on both sides of the ball. The NFC was the superior conference in Montana's day, but the AFC for the most part has been the superior conference in Brady's era. Brady has gone against Manning's Colts and some really good Steelers and Ravens teams (and the Chargers who for all their mental weakness had a ton of talent) and has done it without the kind of all-time rosters Montana worked with, IMO.

FWIW Montana suffered a string of shitty playoff losses in the mid-80's, including the upset loss to the Vikings in which he was benched at halftime for Steve Young.

-Joe Gibbs' Redskins

-Diktas' Bears

-Landry's Cowboys.

With the notable exception of the '81 team, Montana's championship teams were stacked on both sides of the ball.

That happens to be the season where he put up 38 on LT & the Giants then ended Landry's Cowboys.

Cheatriots basically had the EASIEST path to a SB in recent memory this season & EVERY team operates under salary cap rules thus the teams Grady faced aren't as stacked as the team's Montana faced. Grady also lost when he had the best receiver of his generation & now plays w/ the best TE of his generation.

FWIW Montana suffered a string of shitty playoff losses in the mid-80's, including the upset loss to the Vikings in which he was benched at halftime for Steve Young.

......you mean AFTER he shattered his back.:rolleyes

Considering how flustered Grady was by the Giants pass rush in an era where QBs are babied, imagine him playing in the 80s when LT was ending careers every other week.:lol

Dude, seen them all since Johnny U who threw to HOFers to be....Ray Berry, Lenny Moore and John Mackey. Montana had the great Bill Walsh and then here came Jerry Rice. Terry Bradshaw had HOFers Stallworth/Swann. Marino had the Marks brothers and Tony Nathan.
