these are VERY good teams
the most complete teams an LCS has had in a while
I like Chicago

I don't really care who wins out of this series, just want to watch some good games which I expect. I just hope it is Astros vs White Sox/Angels

Astros vs. ChiSox would produce some epic pitching battles. I am rooting for both of those teams, but if it came down to it I'd have to go with the Pale Hose.

White Sox better win tomorrow, they have been resting for awhile and Angels have to fly to Chicago and play tomorrow.

I was going to make a small wager on the Angels because I could have gotten 2-1 odds on them, but I thought it was impossible for them to win under the circumstances and not worth the $30 or so that I was going to bet.

This is unbelievable.

I didn't think Angels had a chance, 3-2 with 1 out left.

The Angels got absolutely hosed in that 9th inning. That home plate umpire made a call and then backed off because of Pierzynski's run to first. He should have stuck with his call -- which was obviously the call that the Angels saw and believed, and for good reason.

A team shouldn't lose a playoff game because of incompetent officiating.

The ump made a hand gesture but never called AJ "out". The only dumbass is Josh Paul, who rolled the ball back to first before the ump made the call. Heads up play by AJ.

Yeah, my guys got the benefit of a call but that is the way the ball bounces sometimes.

I'm not really surprised at how incompetent these AL umpires have been in the postseason. Bad rap for the Angels just like it was a bad rap for the Yankees when Cano was called out running to 1st.

Also, why didn't the catcher just tag the batter anyways? Most MLB catchers always do that to get rid of any doubt.

That's what the fuck you get for screwing with David Robinson and the Carver Academy. Karma's a bitch, ain't it?

He is a 3rd stringer and thought he caught it for sure. He was stupid to not tag him or throw it to 1st base.

See, I think that's bogus.

ESPN showed some other strike three calls by Eddings from that game. In particular, they showed a call where Bengie Molina swung at a ball that was clearly in the dirt -- one that required Pierzynski to tag him to complete the strikeout. If you watch the replay of the Molina strikeout, you see Eddings make his gesture for a swing, but he does not pump his fist until Pierzynski tags Molina. Now, if you compare that to the play in controversy, you see Eddings pump his fist before Pierzynski takes off for first base. Based on what he had done earlier, it seems pretty clear to me that he had called Pierzynski out at that point -- his explanation that that is just part of his strike call is belied by what he did on the Molina strikeout. His fist pump is his out call -- players are attuned to that being the out call, and that's true whether there's a verbal signal or not. I truly believe that Eddings called Pierzynski out and then changed his mind, which screwed the Angels.

The umpires press conference was like listening to something out of the Soviet Union. They were almost laughing at how easily they could dismiss their own incompetence.

I don't have a dog in this fight, so I'm not being homerific here -- Eddings blew that call; his colleagues backed him up; and the Angels got absolutely screwed.

The Angels didn't sue David Robinson. Major League Baseball did. Arte Moreno, owner of the Angels, said he thought the suit was a bad idea and didn't support it.

Not really karma for the Angels. Just a really, really bad call.
