59. Jawun Evans, Oklahoma State: 27 points and nine assists in recent contest par for the course with Evans, who has a decent argument for Big 12 Player of the Year.

29) San Antonio Spurs - Juwan Evans, PG, Oklahoma State

Small but mighty, Evans quarterbacked the nation's most efficient offense this year. Anyone who saw him face Michigan in the first round of the NCAA tournament knows how good he is.

“Most likely, I'll be back,” Evans said following the 92-91 loss to Michigan.

I'm hoping he comes out this year. He's exactly what the Spurs need. Especially if Mills wants a big contract. This kid is easily a better point guard than Mills.

Jawun Evans

PG, Oklahoma State

Draft status: In with an agent

The San Antonio Spurs are well-known for being an intelligent organization. For as much luck as is involved in drafting players, the Spurs seem to hit often and they might have another chance to do so where with Oklahoma State’s Jawun Evans. The 6-foot point guard was a monster for the Cowboys this season, averaging 26.2 points and 8.7 assists per 40 minutes. He was the focal point of the nation’s top offense, posting a 33.4 percent usage rate and facilitating frequently. Oklahoma State’s offense featured Evans surrounded by shooters and working out of pick-and-roll, something that should happen often in an NBA environment.

The sophomore point guard gets to a rim at a high rate, but struggles occasionally to finish there as his size and lack of athleticism are more apparent. However, he has a nice floater game that could be utilized more frequently to avoid length in the paint. Evans was also a good 3-point shooter in college, but did so on a low number of attempts. Increasing his frequency could improve his NBA value.

Defensively, Evans creates plenty of steals and should be able to defend the point off attack, but his size makes him a one position option.

Jawun Evans

PG, Oklahoma State

20.8 years old – 6’1″, 177 lbs – 19.2 pts/3.4 rebs/6.4 asts in 2016-17

The Spurs took a chance on Dejounte Murray last year at the end of the first round, and it would not be a surprise if they tried to snag another point guard this season. Tony Parker was injured during the playoffs this season and adding depth in addition to Patty Mills and the already mentioned Murray would be important.

Evans is about as quick as they come at the point guard position. He is a solid, but not great, three-point shooter, but does his best when working in transition and in the pick-and-roll. At just 6’1″, Evans will need to make up for being undersized, but his quickness allows him to be a tough defender.

Lot of draft guys have Evans going higher than Spurs pick but I'm hoping he's there and Spurs pick him. Nice replacement for Mills. Volume scorer, lighting quick, good handles, great PNR guy, tough, short but long arms. Nice back up PG, 6th man who could pair with Murray.
