View Full Version : Has Kawhi Surpassed LeBron? (Blog)

3) Athleticism:

Lebron James at 32 years of age is slowing down a bit on the athletic side of things, despite this he is still more athletic than 85% of the league. Kawhi is arguably well within that 15% and has shown that he can defend the 4-time MVP with ease when it counts.

***If the question was: Would I trade Kawhi for LeBron?, my answer would be "Absolutely not." It should be noted that they are different players with different skill sets, and are asked to do different things for their teams. Also, Kawhi is still on his learning curve.***

Remember that time he took the title away from the "king" and won finals MVP? I do.

Sorry, but I still have LeBron over Kawhi. If I'm picking one guy I want in a playoff series on my team, I'm still going with LeBron over anyone in the league.

I mean, look at what LeBron did last year in the playoffs. I love Kawhi as much as the next guy, but does anyone really feel confident that he could perform similarly over the course of an entire playoff run?

Absolutely.
Kwa this year, fabulous as it has been too many trips down the floor he has Kobme possessions.
Of course CIA Pops offensive system doesn't help.

hahahha i hate Lebron but the homers on this forum are delusional

Kawhi Leonard has been the 1st option twice and failed miserably in the playoffs including getting outplayed by Matt Barnes in a game 7 LMAO

how is he any different than Melo or Harden or any other playoff choker??? Just because he has a finals MVP as a role player the same way Iggy won with us 2 years ago?

Probably not...but neither could Kawhi with LeBron's supporting cast, so I don't see your point.

Be honest - if Kawhi and LeBron switch places last year, what happens? Do you think the Cavs still beat GS with Kawhi? Do you think the Spurs still lose to OKC with LeBron?

Another legitimate question: would you trust Kawhi to play at the level LeBron played at for an entire 20+ game postseason run? Do you think he has that sort of consistency?

We have had this same thread last season IIRC..You would have thought Lebron last year's Finals have slapped silly the homers who think otherwise :lol..

Kawhi is a Top 3 player in the league, but his track record as the undisputed lead dog of a title contender is still iffy..Not gonna impugn or praise, but the jury is still out..

Yeah, I don't see how anyone could watch last year's Finals and go "You know, I think Kawhi could carry a team like this if he had to" :lol In last year's postseason, he averaged 26/9.5/7.5/2/1 while putting up a 30 PER and having the 2nd highest postseason BPM for anyone who won a title. He led the Cavs in all 5 stat categories. Do people really think Kawhi is capable of doing something like that?

I don't get why people get so offended/act like it's an insult when you say LeBron is better. We're talking about a guy who has already pretty much cemented himself as a top 3 player of all-time. Kawhi being a little worse than him isn't a huge deal. Kawhi is a top 3 player in the league...that's a hell of a compliment.

Lebron has been hiding in the EC his whole career so Leonard wins ultimate warrior status by default.

Plus Leonard plays on a team that is actively schemed against by the NBA to not advance in the post season,
C'mon do the Cavs have anywhere near the blatant no calls and bs from the officials that the Spurs have EVERY damn postseason run?!?

No way Lebron has as many titles if he had to run the PO gauntlet out West.

Besides how "great" would Kawow be if he too was allowed a go to move that consisted if putting his shoulder down and bulldozing to the basket lol

Kawow is a superior offensive and defensive player to Lebron and he does it in the confines of the NBA rules unlike Lebron who when he turns it on(lol) is allowed the typical NBA coddled super star privilege of fouling at will to force a momentum change, its almost like you can see the WWE style script being implemented lol,its sports entertainment at its finest.

All you have to do is watch a bunch of Spurs regular season games to see the invisible hand at work,Spurs start strong build a high teens lead on some scrub ass team and lo and behold midway through the second quarter the refs choke on the whistle while the Spurs get mauled defensively and get called for ticky tack fouls on the other end.Blowouts don't make for a good viewing experience unless you are the Warriors lol
