View Full Version : Are we gonna want in on the potential Bogut deal?

Bogut won't want anything to do with Philly. He'll request a buy-out. Is that too much on the front court?

If the Sixers buy him out, can the Warriors get him? If so, that would suck major ass and would consider getting him just so that the Warriors don't.

cavs would probably be favorites imo... but it should be considered than he's already situated in texas and SA would be an easier move

still, not sure he's necessary since dedmon is already the defensive big who is playing really really well

SpursFan86
02-23-2017, 12:56 PM
Yeah, he seems a bit redundant with how Dedmon has played. Also think Dedmon is a much better matchup for the teams we'd be worried about in the playoffs...Bogut isn't as mobile or good in the PnR as Dedmon. Then there's obviously the injury concern aspect as well.

He wouldn't be coming to replace Dedmon...he'd be coming to replace Joel Anthony as a 5th big if he came at all.

He's not coming here but, he wouldn't be pointless...He'd be better than Joel which makes us a better team. He'd be insurance in case Pau or Dedmon get hurt later in the season. He's is also a strong guy to put in the middle in situational play if we draw a team with a physical C in the 2nd round.

TBH, Spurs need this guy. They have no one on the roster that will lay out a guy with a flagrant 1 foul. This guy has no fear of doing that besides also being a good pick and role guy, defender, and passer. That said, he's also made of glass. Good news front...Patty has the inside track.

Bad news if Rockets get Bogut...

The Spurs' advantage over them is our frontcourt with Kawhi, LMA, Dedmon/Pau. If they get a true rim protector/good big defender, our advantage is no longer that significant.

Also they have points from the bench with Williams now. I don't like how Rockets are moving...

With all of the exceptions, the NBA has almost no cap, and the new CBA doesn't seem to change that as far as I have been able to pick up here on ST. In fact, the new CBA is likely to do more harm than good to the league. I have never really understood why the NBA couldn't adopt a real cap like the NFL. The NBA's labyrinthine "cap" is more like the US tax code in its complexity.

Same way that Miami was able to draw in talented veterans on the cheap. They are all chasing an easy ring, and they know that being with Lebron in the East is pretty much a stamped ticket to the fucking Finals.

per sports illustrated:

He is sure to draw interest from contenders hoping to add a rim protector, including the Spurs and aforementioned Rockets. One team Bogut won’t join: the Warriors. Bogut can’t reunite with his old team due to the Zydrunas Ilgauskas rule, which forbids teams from signing a player it traded or released within one year.

i know the latter is untrue though. article was posted on the 23rd.

sananspursfan21

I know we're loaded on the frontcourt (in theory) and ideally need perimeter help, but it seems that perimeter help might be a little scarce. Sometimes overkill in one area of a team can mask the lack of perimeter playmaking...I mean, fingers crossed. Bogut would be dying to knock his old team off, bad blood or not.

He looked fine before the Heat player and his knee collided on that play. He ran out to play defense and their legs or knees collided. It was a freak injury man, if he signed with the Spurs maybe the outcome would have been different. It will be interesting to see if Cleveland waives him if he is out for months. Anyhow tough break for him, it must be really upsetting to be on a new team and get injured and not even be in the game for more than like 2 mins. Really he must be so frustrated right now. At this point he couldn't play for any other team in the playoffs. But I don't know how long he'll be out. The Cavs may as well hold on to him unless he's out multiple months (can't come back until the Finals) and they also end up really needing that roster spot. Bogut could still give them 8-10 solid minutes per game in the Finals if he's healthy.
