some are saying the raiders will look at adrian peterson...

i get that they want to let murray walk (unless he comes back on a very team friendly deal, as he is an average talent), but peterson makes no sense unless he comes really cheap, which i doubt will be the case

pass

what the raiders really need at this point is...

- another corner, preferably one who can play the slot. the dream FA signee is bouye, but i don't see houston letting him leave. we most probably address this in the draft instead of signing another veteran

- a middle linebacker. best one on the market is hightower, but pats will keep him. i also really like zach brown from buffalo, but i think he's restricted. kiko alonso is another name. the best sleeper/cheap option here is a.j. klein from carolina. if not, this is where the first round pick should go

- defensive tackle. we have the ends with mack/irvin/edwards and possibly aldon smith. but DT's were awful last year, dan williams is a likely cut. i dont like the idea of splurging on calais campbell. brandon williams from baltimore is another notable name. i wouldn't mind sniping dontari poe from kansas city.

- slot wr. not a lot of great options in FA, probably draft somebody to compete with seth roberts. kendall wright could be an under the radar signing. desean jackson would be flashy, but he's not a slot receiver at all

But yeah, he was pretty terrible until Byron Jones came around. Solid tackler and box safety, seemed to be a good person, but that's about it. A huge liability when asked to play coverage beyond 10 yards. One of the slower starting DBs in the game, and he's already going to be 30 at the start of the season... definitely wouldn't bank of him playing out the duration of that contract.

He's a short speedy WR with good hands, which seems right up Belichick's alley. His weakness is he can't go up and get the ball. Honestly, I'm not sure why Belichick would give up a solid CB for a WR. Brady has proven over and over that he doesn't need talented WRs to win Super Bowls.

NFL stunner: Texans trade QB Brock Osweiler AND a 2018 second-round pick to Cleveland for the Browns to take Osweiler’s $16M salary of Houston’s books, per league sources. The move clears out millions in salary-cap space for Houston to intensify efforts to sign former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, per sources. To be exact, Houston saves $16 million in cash and $10 million against their cap this season. The Texans also will get the Browns’ fourth-round pick this year in exchange for their own 6th-round pick. So Cleveland gets Osweiler’s contract, a 2018 second-round pick and a 2017 sixth-round pick, and Houston gets Cleveland’s 2017 fourth-round pick, saves $10 million in salary-cap space and $16 million in cash. Cleveland is not committed to keeping Osweiler and is likely to try to trade him, per sources. If so, it would turn into a basketball-like trade in which NBA teams routinely trade contracts to get them off their books; only it rarely, if ever, happens in the NFL. It’s hard to remember in the salary-cap era another team when a team traded a contract to get it off its books. But Houston was so anxious to rid itself of Osweiler and move on to its next quarterbacking chapter that it is giving Cleveland extra picks to take him and his contract. The Browns headed into this free-agent signing period with over $100 million worth of salary-cap space and would struggle to spend it all. Now they can devote some of it to Osweiler’s contract and acquiring extra draft picks from Houston. But this is one of the most, if not the most, creative trade in NFL history.

Bouye is an excellent slot CB. Not going to get a lot of picks but good in man coverage.

Jaguars biggest problem is they still have no offense. Those Allen receiver guys are okay but nothing to write home about, your quarterback and OL still stink, no running game, etc. On defense you've spent a lot of money and your secondary should be good but up front you have 2 expensive gap integrity guys who don't rush the passer. Pass rush is still going to be an issue.

I was hoping Terrell McClain would go to the Eagles, not the Redskins, because it would line up with my franchise... it's okay, I'll give them Torrey Smith in my madden franchise instead. I have a lot of triangulation to do to make the rosters more realistic. I nailed the Brandon Marshall one though. Need to put DJax on the Bucs, Garcon on the Niners, Cousins back to the Skins, etc. Might consider moving Romo to the Texans since that seems more likely than the Broncos now.

Your not totally wrong. But I'll just say that ngaque and fowler jr are both up and coming DEnds. Malik and Campbell now make that line formidable. With a good secondary I wouldn't be surprised if the pash rush vastly improves. As for the offense they're going to draft fornette and become a running team first. Robinson, hurns, lee and fornette will be tough to stop with more chances on offense.

Id be surprised if they're that outrageous seeing that he's a restricted FA with limited leverage. Gilmore isn't even that good of a corner imo, I'd rather give Butler Josh Norman money than give Gilmore the contract he has.

I also don't understand the random, extremely transparent obsession they have with Brandin Cooks. If they wanted a receiver Brandon Marshall would have been a much better fit and would have been cheaper.

You still need to draft an oline, which you're about 2+ years away on, unless you want Fournette to be stonewalled every time and play action to mean 2 guys in bortles' face which guarantees a sack or bad throw because bortles isn't a good or mobile quarterback at all... also Jackson/Campbell are run stoppers not pass rushers.

I hope y'all can compete for 2nd in AFC South because I don't like Andrew Luck and wish the Dolts last place every time. As for the Titans I don't like them because they moved out of Texas so I hope they finish 3rd.

Butler is a top 5-10 elite corner absolutely. He's not too far behind the very top tier, the Sherman, Norman tier. Gilmore is a good insurance policy for not re-signing Logan Ryan.

And unfortunately, you won't get over the hump with Bortles even if you do make the playoffs. But first, you need to make the playoffs WITH Bortles, perhaps as the lower wild card seed, and a promising team around him so you can lure a real top tier QB to Jacksonville and the pundits can forever shut up about moving the Jags overseas.

I honestly thought the Jags would be at least a 5 win team last year and they were a 3 win team. I think Indy is the team that will suffer if the Jags go up.

plus the Gilmore contract is pretty damn big, you'd think if they had a choice they'd rather give that to Butler. The only possible explanation is that Butler is looking for Josh Norman money, or bigger, which is stupid.

If he wants to go to the Browns and lose, then yeah

I'll start taking your team more seriously when you stop playing home games every year in fuckin' England. You are truly talking out of you're ass. Yes they make a profit playing overseas. Yes attendance is a league wide issue not just for the Jags. But the Jags have an extremely loyal majority. Their fan base is mostly diehards and support even though they've sucked ass since 2007. That's a testament to that fan base. If they start winning, you wont get them to shut the fuck up. Look at that. If Saints sign him to whatever, Pats gets 11th pick if not match. This is fucking brilliant. Butler, 32th, 3rd rounder for 11th, Cooks, 4th rounder.

Or else Pats will get him at 3,2 mil. Or Saints will do the trade for lower than 11th pick. WOW. And Butler is already replaced on the roster, so no biggie there.

And this will only work, if Butler signs with New Orleans long term deal, which Pats wouldn`t match. If he signs lowball offer, like under 30 mil for 4 years, Pats will match. If he signs deal like Gilmore`s/ Bouye`s, Pats get 11th pick. Or work the trade, where Saints will give better offer than pick 11th pick, so they control this 3,2 mil of 2017/18 Butler`s deal, and then extension kicks.

raiders have been taking it slow, as predicted. they need to preserve maximum flexibility because carr and mack are going to get extensions either this summer or next.

- glad they didn't re-sign latavius. i like that the RB market has been dead, so maybe we can get peterson on a reasonable short term deal. i said on page 1 i dont want to pay big money for him, and i stand by that. but his market has been weak, and the raiders make the most sense for him.

- cordarrelle patterson was a nice signing. with jalen richard looking ready to have a bigger role on offense, it's good to have a kick return specialist. patterson has been one of the better return guys for a while now, and he can be a nice gadget player too. unlike minnesota, the raiders wont be forced to thrust him into a role he's not capable of, since we already have cooper/crabtree

- apparently there's interest in jared cook. not a fan of this at all tbh. he cant block and has been boom or bust as a receiver. our passing offense is good enough as is, and he's probably going to be overpriced.

- zach brown at linebacker makes a TON of sense, if they're able to pull the signing off. he visited yesterday and is expected to go back to the team facility today. lets get that one done.

- dontari poe is also expected to make a visit soon. this would be my favorite signings, and is one i pointed to on page 1 as a target. he's not coming off his best year, but apparently he's looking for a short term "prove it" deal which is ideal for both sides, keeping him motivated and in shape, and he's shown to be a great player when that happens. signing him should be accompanied with the cutting of dan williams, who had a disappointing 2016 after a really strong 2015.

- re-signing perry riley makes a lot of sense, so they should get on that

- beyond that, just look for a small time CB prospect, maybe a sterling moore. draft the rest.

Kalil was a good pick at first and played a lot injured. Its an upgrade regardless, but the fact that his brother plays here I'm hoping resurrects his career. Mike Adams is a really good vet that is going to start and bring experience and leadership to a young secondary. Peppers is self-explanatory. A fan favorite, that can still produce. Captain Munnerlyn is a very productive player as well. It's not like we are signing scrubs. We are a year from 15-1, it's not like we need to rebuild completely and you know that.

Again I don't follow Raiders games intimately like that, it's been since 2013 since I watched a full Raiders game (Thanksgiving against the Cowboys in Dallas). I've watched bits and pieces of some of the nationally televised games last year and the only guy who really stands out for me is Mack. I remember Ward in college and he was supposed to be a DE/pass rusher so that's what I assume he was drafted to be. Also, Google is saying he's a DE on the Raiders. But I assume he plays 3-tech. As for Irvin, 4-3 base OLB is not really a pass rushing position.

The receiving corps is going to be pretty damn good with big physical Evans (poor man's Megatron) on one side and the speedster Jackson on the other, with the quick and nifty Humphries in the slot and Cam Brate an upper -- not top, but upper -- tier tight end.

Problem is your QB isn't that great and your OL has big issues especially in pass protection.

I think the Buccaneers as it stands are a 10-6 team and 2nd place in a much improved NFC South this next year, which is a dark horse to be the best division in the NFL this coming year given that the best divisions from 2016 (AFC West and NFC East) are playing each other and thus effectively cancelling each other out.

34 year old Witten with a 4 year extension, albeit a flexible one.

Jason Witten is, in so many ways, the Tim Duncan of the NFL. Even in his youth, he never was a particularly fast or athletic tight end, like a say, Jordan Reed or Tony Gonzalez. Instead, he beat the rest of the league with his fundamentals, his intelligence, his intangibles, his overall smarts and knowledge of the game as well as his toughness and willingness to do everything in his power to win games for his team. This is why he's highly revered throughout Texas and the football world and will likely go down as one of the greatest to play the position, arguably the GOAT TE.

I was actually thinking about this earlier today. He resembles Duncan minus the rings.

Jason Witten will go down as the second greatest tight end of all time imo with the tightest end of course belonging to Tony Gonzalez.

If you wanna look at receiving yards, yeah. But Gonzalez didn't block, that's why I'd give the advantage to Witten. Both had crazy longevity though.

Gonzalez was a rich man's Jordan Reed, as aforementioned.

jordan reed is pretty damn good though. Would be better if they had a better qb

AP closing in on deal with the Saints. Only around 3-4 million. Please have more in the tank!

Too bad this isn't five years ago, or that would make the Saints favorites in the NFC.

New England has 20+ million in cap space and all they needed was 3-4 a year to get AP? What the fucking fuck.

I don't he's a good fit in NE. Can't operate out of the shotgun, mediocre pass blocker, horrible receiver, and is a Stevan Ridley caliber fumblefaggot. When he's trucking guys for 150+ a game he makes up for his deficiencies, but I doubt he has that in the tank anymore.

I don't disagree but you could see all of the same things about Legarrette Blount and they made it work with him.

Blount handled blitz pickups really well, and aside from a fluke in the Super Bowl, he's pretty sure handed. He also was way better in the red zone, something Peterson is surprisingly weak at.

Glad Maclin didn't sign with a team I hate.

Decker is a good possession receiver, hope he goes somewhere decent that isn't green gay

Jets should probably just trade their vets for draft picks instead of just releasing them for nothing. I don't know why they haven't cut Forte yet. I expect them to be roughly last year's Browns, perhaps they'll split with the Bills and go 1-15. But I expect the Browns to (sadly) be better than the godawful Jets in 2017.
