If it's for the season, Dubs are fucked. Regular season, means little. Spurs might be able to surpass them for the #1 seed, but then they'd have to face the Clips in the second round which would end their season.

Not wishing something like that on anybody. I still thought Spurs could take them fully healthy TBH... I am optimistic like that.

Think Spurs will reel them in for the top seed..Their depth is shot and their original Big 3 are all having a down year..but this is seismic stuff, tbh..Not only about this season's outcome...Durant is Free Agent again this summer and this opens a whole new discussion if it turns out he suffered a career-altering injury..

This, tbh.

This is probably the way the inevitable elimination at the hands of Austin Rivers happens.

Warriors can just come back if KD is ready for the playoffs.

Agreed. It's just that they don't have the other guys they had last season now and without Durant they should struggle to make up for it.

fuck that. you win then you win. We could asterisk anyone else's by saying that Timmy had to prematurely retire. Or that Parker has a bum knee. Fuck asterisks. A ring is a ring. If you trade your depth for one player then you suffer the consequences if that player gets hurt.

No, you're right but it would still be far more satisfying to beat the Warriors with a chump KD on the floor

A title is satisfying no matter what. You think GS gives a shit that they won theirs when Kyrie and Love were injured?

Oh yeah. No doubt. But unless that's a guarantee, I'd rather the Spurs play a weaker GS team. Or even better, have someone else beat them before the WCF.

Increases the Spurs chances of catching the #1 seed, but I still think the Warriors hold on to it.

Otherwise, non-issue unless he misses significant time in the playoffs beyond the first round, tbh.

spursistan
03-01-2017, 11:33 AM
836973278656880641Safe to say at least, he isn't going to be 100% for the entire playoffs..I would be lying to say that I didn't want to see one of their stars get hobbled..they stacked the deck and that was the only way to get a shot at them..

SpursFan86
03-01-2017, 11:37 AM
Meh, they still have Curry/Klay/Draymond...I wouldn't be so sure that we even make up that 4 game difference to get the 1st seed, but our chances obviously increased greatly. Will come down to whether we can win both of our remaining games against them.

As for the playoffs, it's just going to depend on whether he's 100% by the time the WCF rolls around. He'll have the first 2 rounds to ease back into things and get into a rhythm, so I'm not going to jump the gun and start getting excited at the thought of GS not being full strength by the time we'd be playing them.

All that being said, this injury certainly helps our chances at least a little bit. Will be interesting to see how the rest of the regular season plays out.

Agreed. Especially this year since Cleveland is going to be a juggernaut when bogut and deron get comfortable in Cleveland system.

There should be no asterik. It would be legit in my eyes

And they might get worn out by the time the playoffs come around if they are going to try the same pace as last year to keep the seed. I honestly thought even before the Durrant injury the Rockets could have a shot against them.

I hope all that kind of shit happens to him in the offseason. This year, I want his gangly ass on the floor so we can mop it up with him. The fear of that jack-tard team is ridiculous. They have 3 terrific players but what they gave up to get Durant was enough to keep them from winning a ring. They can beat just about anyone in this sorry, watered-down league on any given night but the playoffs were always going to be their demise.

Horse
03-01-2017, 01:37 PM
I think we're good either way. Ofcourse they've improved since the opener but our rebounding advantage should be massive not to mention the bench. And their love of the jumpshot which usually doesn't get it done come playoff time.

DPG21920
03-01-2017, 01:45 PM
GS still has a big 3 that took them to back-to-back finals in Curry/Klay/Draymond. Yes, the lost Bogut & Barnes, but they still have Iggy/Livingston who played huge roles and replaced Barnes with Matt Barnes basically which helps offset losing KD some (lowers their ceiling obviously but if last year and the year before they swap out Harrison Barnes for Matt Barnes it would not have made the difference in them making the finals).

Then they have Zaza/West/McGee to replace Bogut (which is a big downgrade for sure) but they are still a sick team.

03-01-2017, 01:47 PM
The Spurs need to go all out in the two games against GS, close that gap and lock up the tiebreaker. The 1 seed and de facto first round bye is a prize worth going after. That and avoiding Memphis or the Clippers in case one of those teams falters or the Thunder get hot.
