Insurances couldn't afford it anyway. This whole myth of people having insurance doesn't mean much if healthcare providers refuse to see those patients due to paltry reimbursement from those crappy insurer plans. Basically government is paying for millions more to get insured without necessarily improving the overall quality of care.

It is a piece of shit since it didn't address cost, but is much better than our previous and upcoming system. At least the ACA actually covered people, now we go back to the system where we're still by far the most expensive in the world and lots of people don't have coverage. I don't see how bringing medical bankruptcy back is going to be a good move for America.

No we haven't. With the ACA the Dems took full ownership of healthcare for the first time and got their shit pushed in for doing so. Now the GOP is about to take full ownership of healthcare and any fool knows how that is going to end. Wasn't it Churchill who said “You can always count on Americans to do the right thing...after they’ve tried everything else”.
So I just see this as part of the process of getting towards some type of sensible healthcare model eventually. The most disappointing about Trumpcare is it looks like they are going to puss out of allowing health insurance to be sold across state lines so that we have a national healthcare market. That would be the biggest step towards setting the stage for a national healthcare model imo.
I'm not philosophically opposed to single payor or any other healthcare model or any combination of models. I just think it's stupid for libs to always tout "single payor" when nobody is actually proposing a plan. It's as dumb as conservatives just shouting "free market" as a be all solution to healthcare.
In the meantime, I just want Obamacare gone. If I lose my grandfathered plan I'm fucked under this piece of shit.

But you're saying it yourself. You wanted to make a point that selling across state lines can be cost cutting? Well, here was your chance. They been singing that bullshit for years, now they get their chance and what happens? Nothing.
This plan can be resumed as simply rolling back Barrycare. It's kill the mandate, sunset Medicare expansion, and we'll give you some ridiculous, hilariously low tax credits to compensate for keeping pre-existing condition coverage...
Really? Eight years for a master plan and this is what you come up with, going back? Ofcourse you had to tack in the abortion wedge issue right there too, lol
What's terrible about this is that they're going to make people actually miss ACA, as incredibly bad as it was. I personally thought it was terrible, because of the exact same reasons as this shit, it doesn't deal with cost of care. But on top of that now you're killing access for millions of insured.
This isn't about red or blue. They're both so fucking sold out, tbh... notice how it's the consumer (especially the poor and the sick) getting fucked again. Just extremely disappointing.

Absolutely true, but the at the same time, the hopes (perhaps unfounded) was that Barrycare was a stepping stone for serious healthcare reform. The ACA didn't happen in a vacuum, there were real, tangible, measurable problems with healthcare costs and access in the US. I'm just as incensed as when the ACA was reamed through. A perfect opportunity to actually improve, completely wasted with the usual political bickering.

The public option wasn't politically feasible even with 60 dems in the senate. You act as if democrats are immune to the insurance lobby.
Read what they put out, but doesn't seem complete. For instance, the article below says it keeps banning lifetime caps and kids under 26, but I don't see anything in the bill on that. Maybe it's with the understanding that they won't get the votes to repeal the non-financial parts of ACA so their bill is layered on top of the ACA's pre-existing, lifetime ban and children under 26? They need to make the percent for continuous coverage much higher to incentivize people to stay covered, not go in and out of the market and thereby stabilize the market. I don't see anything addressing tort reform or the breakdown of the tax credit per age (other than it goes back to the average 4.8/5 times older than younger instead of ACA's current 3x) or how much they'll allow for the HSAs.

Don't you guys have anything like this (Publix supermarkets):
The free medications offered, treatment and dosages include:
Lisinopril — an ACE inhibitor used to prevent, treat or improve symptoms of high blood pressure, certain heart conditions, diabetes and certain chronic kidney conditions. Maximum of 90-day supply (up to 180 tablets). Lisinopril-HCTZ combination products excluded.
Metformin — a medication used to treat diabetes. Maximum of 90-day supply of generic immediate-release metformin (up to 360 500-mg tablets, 270 850-mg or 225 1000-mg).
Amlodipine — a calcium-channel blocker commonly used to treat high blood pressure and angina (chest pain). Maximum of 90-day supply (up to 180 2.5-mg or 5-mg tablets, or 90 10-mg tablets). Amlodipine combination products are excluded.
Publix Pharmacy also offers a 14-day supply of the following generic oral antibiotics free:
amoxicillin
ampicillin
ciprofloxacin (excluding Ciprofloxacin XR)
penicillin VK and
sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim (SMZ-TMP)
or Walmart's $10/90-day or $4/30-day supply. Sometimes Costco (don't need membership to buy drugs) is even cheaper - try Walmart/Costco before your local pharmacy. And sometimes, it's cheaper to pay for it yourself than whatever tier/copay your health insurance decides it's on. Congress needs to allow us to buy from Canada or UK for the non-common/patented drugs. Hopefully a mass exodus doing that will affect US sales, and they'll lower their prices.

Dems never had 60 in the Senate in 09.
Lieberman is independent and totally owned by CT's BigInsurance. Lieberman killed any discussion of public option, never mind a vote on it.
Ben "Horses Ass" Nelson also owned by BigInsurance, was given the job of writing ACA, and hired a BigInsurance exec/lobbyist to write it.

Chaffetz to low-income Americans: Buy health care, not iPhones (https://www.yahoo.com/news/chaffetz-to-low-income-americans-buy-healthcare-not-iphones-153317516.html)
As House Republicans begin to roll out their proposed replacement for Obamacare (https://www.yahoo.com/news/house-republicans-reveal-obamacare-replacement-bill-013510100.html), Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah suggested that poor Americans could pay for plans by prioritizing health care over smartphones.
“Americans have choices, and they’ve got to make a choice,” said Chaffetz in a Tuesday interview with CNN (http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2017/03/07/jason-chaffetz-invest-in-healthcare-instead-of-phones-sot-newday.cnn), “so maybe rather than getting that new iPhone they just love and spending hundreds of dollars on that they should invest in their own health care. They’ve got to make those decisions themselves.”
According to the 2016 Millman Medical Index (http://www.milliman.com/uploadedFiles/insight/Periodicals/mmi/2016-milliman-medical-index.pdf), the average annual cost of health care for a typical American family of four was $25,826, or just over $2,100 per month. For a standard two-year plan on Verizon with no special deals, the iPhone 7 would cost $27.08 a month.

A Plan Set Up To Fail
Obamacare (and Romneycare before that): regulation, mandates, and subsidies.
And the result has been a sharp decline in the number of uninsured, with costs coming in well below expectations (https://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/115th-congress-2017-2018/reports/52468-outlookqfrs.pdf).
Roughly speaking, 20 million Americans gained coverage at a cost of around 0.6 percent of GDP.
For the GOP proposal basically accepts the logic of Obamacare.
It retains insurer regulation to prevent exclusion of people with preexisting conditions.
It imposes a penalty on those who don’t buy insurance while healthy.
Obamacare 0.5, because it’s really about replacing relatively solid pillars with half-measures, severely and probably fatally weakening the whole structure.
the ACA subsidies, which are linked both to income and to the cost of insurance, are replaced by flat tax credits which would be worth much less to lower-income Americans, the very people most likely to need help buying insurance.
these moves would almost surely lead to a death spiral.
House leadership .. plans to rush the bill through committee before CBO even gets a chance to score it.

The Republican Health Care Bill Is Carefully Crafted to Solve a Specific Problem
Republicans knew exactly what problem they were trying to solve.
Their preference has always been to repeal Obamacare and do nothing in its place,
but they don't have the votes to overcome a Democratic filibuster, so they can't do that.
They also realize that the optics of baldly ripping away health coverage from 20 million people would be mildly troublesome.
goal was simple:
do what they could to destroy Obamacare and take away as much health coverage as they could,
without making it look like they weren't offering a replacement.
keeping the pre-existing conditions clause—which is both popular and impossible to repeal—while tearing down the rest of Obamacare is likely to destroy the individual insurance market. (http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/11/save-obamacare-donald-trump-repeal-gop)

I'd root for it if it didn't also mean people would die.

According to the 2016 Millman Medical Index, the average annual cost of health care for a typical American family of four was $25,826, or just over $2,100 per month. For a standard two-year plan on Verizon with no special deals, the iPhone 7 would cost $27.08 a month.
Can't stand Chaffetz but what does it say that the average annual cost of health care for a typical American family of four was $25,826 under the AFFORDABLE Care Act?
This is just 1/3 of it - I guess, the part they can do with just republicans - although the conservatives are not on board. The next part is where Price uses HHS to smooth things/transition over. And I guess the third part requires 60 Senate votes.

I don't buy it. If this was being done in 2018 it could be horrible for the GOP in the midterms but coming a year earlier they'll be able to spin it.
:lol this 'plan' also has a massive trap in it, notice how the 100 billion in aid to states to subsidize buying insurance sunsets 9 years from now... basically exploding into possibly the next administration (if this one lasts two terms).

I don't want to live to 50.
I wanna think about how that 1/8 th ounce weedless gold spoon is an awesome wading lure anytime of the year. And where can I find that 1/16 th ounce lure. And that oversized fish stripping drag. Casting tangent to and past the wad of tails and bam! Replay, replay...

Baffin Bay.
Spring Is upon us. Best chance imo. My best is only 28 1/2.
Personally I would rather hunt slot reds in back lakes. When I go with my cousin we trout fish with plastics on backside of St, Jose. Sun comes up more, hit the lakes with spoons and the fun begins. Requires a boat from Rockport though. The wading is very tough in the lakes but it's too much fun. In actual Aransas bay you get the nicer sandy bottoms to wade for trout. Also like St. Charles with the oysters.for trout. The alligator I photographed on the other page was in a back lake in St. Charles. Redfish bay is also great with miles of skinny water for reds.
This winter was so mild the bait fish really never left and the trout fishing was much more consistent. I love saltwater wade fishing. Especially if I can find a real quiet muddy oyster ridden place with the kayak. The air boats and skinny water boats avoid them. Fence lake on the backside of St. joes is absolutely run over by air boats but I have found some places to wade they avoid. The idiots run over so many reds because they are not in large schools as often. And they can't see them in the slightly mudder water running so fast so as not to get stuck.
Gonna get a peddle drive and visit rigs off shore on nice days. Catch some jacks and kings for fun and try to get some snapper closer to the rigs. The red snapper are really picked on, but I think I know how to get mangrove snapper for some great meat. They got some 5-12 lb mangrove snapper. Seen em snorkeling. Just gotta try some different methods and see what works. They hang so close to the rigs and just dive back in and cut the line. Gonna have to horse em out with larger tackle.

In have a 20 yo Ocean Kyak Drifter made for scuba in the pacific. The well in back is shaped for oxygen tanks. But it perfect for skinny water and it's 34" wide so I can stand and cast if wading starts getting difficult. It's a beast but getting thin. The oysters have taken their toll on the underside.

I don't eat redfish anyhow, too bloody and I hate cleaning them, though there's a trick where you can poke your finger beneath their pectoral fin into their heart region and bleed them to reduce the bloodline. I catch and release mostly, only keep a couple trout, mangrove snapper and flounder now and then (offshore fish notwithstanding of course).
I caught one over 50" a few weeks back, 12lb test on a 2500 Shimano... took forever to land. Had to give chase.

Get you some 40lb flouro leader and upgrade your drag washers to carbontex so you can lock it down pretty well, then your drag is still going to be how well you can hold the kayak from moving into the rig.
We often leave the boat running and when we hook up the other guy backs out quick to drag the fish off the structure. Then you can fight how you like once in more open water.
The spanish macks are thick as well in open water, mixed with some kings so that's always fun (and they are decent table fare as well, though I don't care for kings).

They are a pain to clean. They eat the best of knifes or electric blades. The smaller slots 20-22 are the best to eat. I really don't mind the red strip. It's not that big on small fish.
I have heard about that bleeding out, but my fish stay on my stringer as I am wading. Don't get on ice till I get back to my truck. I will try that on my cousins boat possibly. I like em half shell on the grill so I'm fine with the taste as long as they are slots.

Yeah on a yak this breakage is gonna be a problem. But since the mangove snapper are smaller I might be able to get it done. There must be some technique because I know there are some yakers who do this. I won't eat kings.

Drag shouldn't have ball bearings, it's a braking system. Your spool will have bearings that work drag on or off. The drag will have washers.

Grill the fillets, use a very sharp knife (I use Dekker) and remove the skin, leaving a solid fillet. You'll need a solid grill, or some foil. They also make good ceviche. Teeth like razor blades, be careful handling them.

Im gonna need a bigger bait caster. I use a smaller Lews reel and it casts great. But your right, they were talking about the Al bearings replaced with ceramic bearings. If I can cast all sorts of lures with small adjustments I'm not touching the braking yet. Maybe when it's older.
Cant you just clamp down on the drag with a bigger bait caster? I think I might have the bait to preferentially target the mangrove snapper. And of course backing up with the kayak is not gonna do it, even with the reverse peddle drives they have, Its too slow.

Any suggested seasoning/marinade on the Spanish Mackerel? 2 more months and I should get some. When I get closer to the passes. They are fun to catch but I have thrown so many back. I know they are around when I get my line cut by a quick little run. Get the lure with the longer hook shanks and hook them in the mouth is the only way. So word is breitbart and maybe Bannon (if he's still working behind the scenes with them) looking to tank this healthcare plan and maybe take Paul Ryan down with it too. Supposedly that's why breitbart is releasing the audio of Ryan's remarks about trump on its site today. Read this on Ben Shapiro, Josh Barrow and Chris Hayes Twitter just now. That's their theory at least
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/03/13/exclusive-audio-emerges-of-when-paul-ryan-abandoned-donald-trump-i-am-not-going-to-defend-donald-trump-not-now-not-in-the-future/
They are guessing Trump will see this and explode. Who knows how accurate their guesses are

Both parties currently suck with healthcare.
That's because they're trying to come up with a magical healthcare plan that works for all Americans and also keeps money in the insurance company's pockets when the two are mutually exclusive.

This.
I hope we all can go as peacefully as possible when it's our time.
But the money grab that comes out when elderly are at obvious end-of-life stage is ridiculous.
And/or ER visits whereupon the same tests are duplicated, triplicated, quad that the patient already had just a short time earlier at his HMOs etc.

Ryan is the worst piece of shit in Washington right now and Trump pinning this disastrous bill on Ryan could be a shot across the bow to any Republican who might be trying to kill off Medicare. You don't think something has to be done about SS and Medicare? It can't continue as it currently is or it won't be there for you and me (not in anywhere near its current form). Although I don't like Ryan, he knows his numbers and is willing to put something that's political suicide out there. I would prefer for the nation to start a conversation about all these liabilities - the sooner we address them, the easier and less painful the eventual remedy.
As far as Trump is concerned, I don't even think he knows the severity of the problem. He is all for winning which touching SS, Medicare, Medicaid and pensions would kill. Trump admits his health care plan would benefit rich investors, screw over people who voted for him
He didn’t even pretend otherwise.
CARLSON: This bill has as one of its centerpieces a tax-cut for investors that would primarily benefit people making over $250,000 a year. They’ve already done pretty well in the past ten years, as you know.
TRUMP: Yeah.
CARLSON: A Bloomberg analysis showed that counties that voted for you — middle-class and working-class counties — would do far less well under this bill —
TRUMP: Yeah. Oh, I know.
CARLSON: — than the counties that voted for Hillary, the more affluent counties.
TRUMP: I know. It’s very preliminary.
CARLSON: It seems like maybe this isn’t consistent with the last election.
TRUMP: No. A lot of things aren’t consistent. But this is going to be negotiated.
He never said anything more to address the actual substance of the legislation and the impact it’ll have on the many Americans who depend on the insurance they can access through Obamacare, which they would lose.
The Bloomberg analysis (https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2017-03-14/trump-s-counties-lose-out-to-clinton-s-in-gop-health-tax-cuts) Carlson referenced found that taxpayers in counties that voted for Hillary Clinton in the election would receive a disproportionate share of the tax cut compared to those in counties that voted for Trump.
That’s because the plan cuts an additional Medicare tax that generally only more wealthy people, like those who live in or near the cities that voted for Clinton, have to pay.
There were, in fact, several hundred counties that voted for Trump in which not a single person paid the tax, so literally nobody in those counties would benefit from the tax cut.

Trump Budget Director Takes Aim at “Wasteful” Social Security Program That Helps Disabled Americans (https://theintercept.com/2017/03/20/trump-budget-director-takes-aim-at-wasteful-social-security-program-that-helps-disabled-americans/)
Mulvaney replied by pivoting to the specific issue of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), a program administered by the Social Security Administration that aids disabled Americans. He complained about the program’s cost and indicated that the administration wants to alter it.
“Let me ask you a question, do you really think that Social Security disability insurance is part of what people think of when they think of Social Security? I don’t think so,” he said, with a slight grin on his face. “It’s the fastest growing program. It was — it grew tremendously under President Obama. It’s a very wasteful program and we want to try and fix that.”
It is hardly an easy program to enroll in — the Social Security Administration rejects a majority of those who apply for disability payments. The Center for Budget and Policy Priorities notes (http://www.cbpp.org/research/retirement-security/policy-basics-social-security-disability-insurance) that fewer than 400 of 1,000 initial applications for approval are accepted.

The evil sociopathy continues unabated, by wealthy assholes unaffected by their own decisions.

Jolting Joe B punching hard
Republicans’ Worst Nightmare Comes True As Joe Biden Returns To Annihilate Trumpcare
There’s nothing fundamentally changed in the Republican Party in the last 12-15 years except they got a president now who’s a little more colorful.
But look, folks here’s the deal, when you cut to the chase, we’re talking about eliminating close to a trillion dollars in benefits that go to people to be able to meet the commitment that we made to people that healthcare is a right, and transferring that to the wealthy.
That’s what this is all about.
It’s about a transfer tax, basically.
Eliminating the Affordable Care Act means eliminating an awful lot of things that people badly need in return
for what?
So the .9 percent in taxes for people making over 250,000 couples can be returned to them?
So drug companies and insurance companies and medical device companies can benefit?
It’s a transfer of about a trillion dollars to those folks out there from everybody in the country.
That’s what this is, and that’s classic Republican politics.
This is a tax bill to them.
