If it's too close to the AV node they aren't gonna want to do that. There is a cryo freezing process that is similar as far as invasiveness that would get him back out there. Recovery time depends on which arteries they go through to get to the heart.

Anyone has Tim Duncan's number if this isn't easily fixed? It's weird that WPW takes a ton of procedures without it getting fixed. Typically they prescribe beta blockers if they can't get rid of the extra pathway. Kind of explains a lot.

In December 2011, just before the start of training camp in that lockout-shortened season, Aldridge suffered a recurrence of the same symptoms. He underwent another ablation procedure and was on the floor for a Blazers’ preseason game against Utah 10 days later.

It sounds like that's what he's been doing, what basically happens with WPW is when someone experiences excitement or stress there is a birth defect that allows for the electricity to jump into an extra electrical pathway. In most cases it causes no symptoms, in a small portion of the population it causes the heart rate to rest at 200 bpm or worse cause cardiac arrest. We're talking 1% of the population that has it.

The procedure was typically fixed by passing electricity into the pathway till it burns out, but if it was too close to the AV node it could disable the AV node causing it to be necessary for a pacemaker. If a dr decides disabling the AV node is evident and the patient is too young for a pacemaker they often try to get them on medication that keeps them from getting excited. There is a cryo procedure that was approved around 2008 and should be well used now that could help.

what I want to know is if the pathway was too close and he's been on meds or if he was declared asymptomatic. Some of the posters said he's had a procedure, which means it failed or was successful and the pathway grew back, which is also possible with WPW

Re LMA: I hope his short-term and long-term prognoses are positive.

Re Spurs: I hope the other bigs - especially Kyle and Bertans can really pick up the slack. And I hope that LMA is able to return and contribute this season.

Re Spurs fans: Keep the faith! With a healthy Kawhi and other guys playing up to form, Spurs are still contenders. We will mostly miss LMA's D and rim protection. Perhaps Deadman...? We will likely learn a lot about Kyle and Bertans.

Random thought: I do not recall hearing anything about LMA's heart issues when the Spurs were pursuing him in free agency.

1-The most important thing...Get well soon, LMA

He's a family guy, a father, a good son, his family needs him. Hopefully he'll be fine for them.

2-Arrhythmia is a whole different issue than Bosh's and others. Remember Oberto? This last LMA's heart condition sounds more like that Fab's issue. Sadly, Oberto last heart-episode was in Portland and couldnt play anymore.

3-It's sad but LMA's sign is finally exploding in Pop/RC/our faces this season with his poor performances and this heart problem.

Two years ago it seemed the perfect scenario, the Spurs got the best free agent in the market, a big who can fill Tim's shoes after his retirement...Again, it's sad, things didn't go the way the Spurs planned.

That was a post that was uncharacteristically optimistic, tbh. :lol I did not say the Spurs would win the LOB. What I did say, but didn't flesh out was that the Spurs would be contenders with a healthy Kawhi and the rest of the roster playing up to their potential. Patty and Danny have to regain their shooting touch, Simmons must play closer to his season-opening performance against the Dubs, and the role players have to step up - especially Kyle and Bertans. If all of those things happen, the Spurs are competitive - even contenders.

Damn, what a blow..quite the 180 from last year, tbh, when 90% of the forum was willing to eat his ass and ridiculing me for my Aldridge thread:lol

Still, though, Spurs won't be anywhere near contending if he's out..he's been an All-NBA caliber defender, this year, and he's the only guy outside of Kawhi that could consistently cause mismatches when he was engaged..

Pau can negate some of his offense, but the 2-way dropoff will be substantial..combining Pau and Dedmon essentially gives you Aldridge..

Spurs can still get the #1 seed without him, and they could beat Denver or Memphis in a 1st round matchup without him, as well..any other matchup will be a loss, though, and forget about contending, of course..

Nice...good insight.

I'm also a little older than LMA and of course, nowhere near the athlete he is so if he's out longer, it would be because LMA and staff were very negligent in monitoring the situation to the point that it worsened...which I doubt. Or they're willfully going to be extremely cautious in bringing him back, longer than necessary because the organization is just that classy. Whatever it is, there's still a good chance he comes back soon.

Signing LMA was an admirable and worthwhile risk to make the team better, but I don't think he's performed up to expectations. Perhaps due to lingering health issues, who knows?

Is Blair done? I read an interview from a couple weeks ago, said he needed to get quicker but sounded mature. Scola is what he is at this point, but he's still been competing at the NBA level this year and has more experience than anyone available. Sullinger has to be an option too. And of course the elephant in the room...21 Savage

Not sure why there is a need for another PF, granted there really isn't a need for Anthony at the moment.

Bertans should be able to step up and play 20mpg, Anderson is better suited as a 4 anyway. Lee will probably have to play 26-28 mpg for at least the next couple of weeks (about 7 games, most of them are pretty winnable assuming Leonard doesn't miss any more games past the Atl game)

:cry I paid (well Mommy or the US Taxpayers did) big money for school. We must have come from a dust speck because Professor Anal said we did. :cry

I don't believe in the big bang either, tbh. I believe in the infinite universe theory. It's like math, it's infinite... because you can always add one right?

2 years in a row, 2015 & 2016. Not to mention all the tornadoes that hit the Dallas metroplex area on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in 2015. Thank you Jesus for that!

Both theories are stupid. Us humans have very little knowledge and significance in the grand scheme of things. But you can say this for most/all other organisms and beings in all of space and time. Some might have more influence than others, but does it really matter? You're talking one species having control of 1/infinity versus another with 7/infinity versus another with 23/infinity. No matter how many solar systems or galaxies your species controls, it's insignificant.

People pretend to be bible scholars...especially "atheists"

Christians claim to read yet celebrate pagan holidays for Jesus death/birth (Christmas/Easter) biggest sin of them all tbh

But if you truly studied/ read the Bible and don't follow the masses people would know this...
I'm an atheist and celebrate Christmas because it's an excuse to be happy and give presents and make my mom/wife feed me turkey and have a pretty tree and eat candy and drink egg nog. As for Easter, it's an excuse to have a little seasonal fun, hide easter eggs and eat more candy.

Heck, why do people celebrate New Year's or their birthday? Because it's an excuse to be happy and do happy things. All people ever want is happiness.

Remember that one time Manu casually said on an interview he was an atheist and DPG21920 got all upset and started saying folks should be more careful about the info they post and double check it, like doubting Manu would say such a thing, as if saying you are an atheist would be the equivalent of admitting you are a Nazi or something? The good ol' times, tbh. :lol
