It’s still not clear what shape the project will take, but sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Warner Bros. is in the early stages of developing a relaunch of The Matrix, the iconic 1999 sci-fi movie that is considered one of the most original films in cinematic history, with Zak Penn in talks to write a treatment.

Sources say there is potential interest in Michael B. Jordan to star, but much must be done before the project is ready to go.
Of course Neo will be black this time:lol

They should make a movie of The Invisibles comic by Grant Morrison, which the Matrix utterly blatantly rips off

It's been enough time where millennial trump voting drake loving america has prob forgotten about The Matrix, so either way it'll prob make some cash.

This could be good.

Maybe they can redeem the last two movies.

Wow. Just like White Men Can't Jump and the idiocy of proposing a remake, this might even be worse. Some iconic characters can not be replaced. You can't reboot Harry Potter til Radcliffe is dead and that should really be the rule of thumb in regards to remakes but since Hollywood writers today are obviously void of originality, I guess they will find a reboot a relatively young franchise and someone figure a way to make the special FX/CGI look worse.

This is up there with Godfather and Scarface as just abysmal, and completely unnecessary remakes that are in lose-lose situations.

Shouldn't remakes wait two generations?

It says "relaunch". That isn't the same as reboot. Are they remaking it or continuing it?

Can't wait for a Godfather reboot

With electronic music instead of old Sicilian music, Galaxy Note 7's instead of rigged cars and Ellen DeGeneres as Michael Corleone, Kathy Bates as Vito Corleone and Sarah Silverman as Fredo.

I'd like to see "Passengers" remade with Anthony Hopkins and Justin Bieber.

The first one was amazing because it felt so original. The sequels were no good at all.

The first one was probably the most mind blowing theater experience I have ever had. First time I walked out of a theater truly in awe of what I saw.

Saving Private Ryan blew me away in the theater as well. The Omaha beach scene is one of the most epic in all of cinema. It's sad that it's been almost 20 years since I've seen a movie that made me feel that way.

Sad to say I fell asleep at the movies. I had a long day of work, went to midnight showing and just couldn't make it through. Didn't see it again until I watched it at home, my first DVD purchase ever, that my mind was really blown. Amazing movie.

Not knowing what to expect going in, but hearing the rumblings of that opening scene, then actually sitting through it and not even being able to catch your breath until 20 minutes into the movie was exhausting and yeah, one hell of an experience. Never forgot that one.
