I'm so sure he'll be completely honest and forthcoming with his answers.

Manafort's a broken man. Years on the force caused him to see things that can't be unseen. Once an eager crime solver, he became jaded by the red tape bureaucracy bullshit. Manafort just wants to retire and enjoy a nice meal and his records and primo Bently. But god dammit, he just can't seem to get away from trying to right some of the wrongs that happen in London. He's got too big of a heart.

Right. So...that doesn't jibe with the retirement thing. Ok...he put away a junkie bus driver years ago. It turns out he got the wrong man. So his penance is to take over the guys shifts and he gives the money to the driver's wife and kid.
The driver gets killed in jail. But in a future episode, it turns out that the driver had actually raped several kids years before the wrongful drug bust. Manafort can finally sleep easy. That might be part of the final season.

But Manafort still helps out the wife and kid.

No on holds ill will towards Manafort. But he holds himself accountable for sending Liam to prison. Where he ultimately met his death.
