View Full Version : Cavs: will not even reach the Finals, tbh

Just give me 2 valid reasons. They have Lebron, that's 1 but that's it. He's not even the same player anymore and cannot correct a multitude of on court issues they have.

I can see Boston or the Wizards representing the East this time.

Idk, it could go either way. I guess reason #2 is "it's the eastern conference." But right now Boston and Washington are more cohesive teams.

Cavs could end up the #4 seed especially if they decide to rest some players.

man, boston or wizards has to catch lightning in the bottle to beat the cavs.

even at this state, the cavs are just too good and experienced. they're one of those teams that can flip a switch and actually make it work.

i just don't trust the wizards. I can pretty much see their game plan now and that's to simply outscore the cavs. you cant play streetball against the cavs when they have the GOAt streetballer in kyrie:lol

i can see boston though, they have the occasional sloppy performance, but typically, they make you beat them. and they’re very well coached, they get baskets out of timeouts late in games and they squeeze points out with coaching moves. they have bigs that can outhustle and outrebound. personally though, I think LeBron can still carry this team out in the east....Not against the KD led gsw though.

There are your reasons

Cavs are a lock to win the East

And a 3rd reason, Kylia is playing the worst ball of his career. He takes it up a notch and they repeat

They're fucked. I'm running up the white flag. I'm just hoping Washington makes it to the Finals as opposed to Boston.

It would serve them right, really. You shouldn't be able to dick around all season, not give an honest effort, and just cruise to the Finals.

They could be simply satisfied. There are no new dragons to be slayed since the "one for the land" dragon was felled last year. Outside of Lebron the team is loaded with guys who are easily placated with money, and that ring just gives them an excuse to be that way. Still, the East teams are notorious for incompetence so I expect to see Lebron in the Finals.

If anyone replaces them it will be Boston. Toronto doesn't seem to have it this year like they did last year. The lEast is still the lEast so even at 50% they will cruise and sweep in the first round for sure.

LeBron, Kyrie and Love are all healthy.

Still too early to call them fucked imo. Boston's best player and only consistent offense is 5'9", Washington is primed for a meltdown if/when the going gets tough (Wall and Beal have been taking shots at each other all season), and Toronto is Toronto. Now if the Cavs draw Miami in the first round things could get interesting, but even then I'd pick Cavs in 5-6.

I could be wrong, but I really like Washington's team. They get a hair up their ass when they play the Cavaliers, too. I don't buy into Boston for the reason you mentioned; their best player is a midget and he isn't going to beat a path to the free-throw line in the playoffs like he does during the regular season. The Cavaliers have just been so bad of late; I guess they can theoretically turn it on when they have to, but it's hard to overlook just how poorly they've played for the last month.

At this point I hope the Cavaliers don't make the Finals. If they get there and play Golden State they might have to mercy-rule the series after three games. The 2010-11 team that lost 26 straight games was more fun to watch than this one. At least that team couldn't help that they sucked.

Wow i get motivation may be on short supply but its concerning that you can have dominant performances by Bron and Kyrie and still lose. Even the 3peat Lakers running on fumes showed more determination...

Same thought in the other thread..I also think we are seeing Lue's true pedigree getting exposed..

Lue is just a trash coach. Dude has no system..There is no excuse for a team with that much talent in a shitty conference to barely win 50 games..All added to Lebron playing an insane amount of minutes..

Might as well be better for the Cavs to get bounced before the Finals, they are going to get massacred worse than the Heat in 2014..

He reminds me of K.C. Jones. Doesn't discipline, doesn't motivate, doesn't know how to use a bench. When K.C. Jones didn't have self-motivated players like Bird and McHale he got exposed. The Cavaliers aren't real motivated this year after winning the title and it's exposing Lue.

What the hell is wrong with the Cavs? I haven't seen a top team just die like this to end a season since the 2011 Spurs. But that team was fools gold who padded their record in the early season beating teams who didn't give a shit yet and Duncan was completely worn down by mid March. This Cavs team is the fucking champs who destroyed a 73 win team without homecourt. It doesn't make sense. Is Deron Williams that cancerous? Aside from backup PG on paper this team should be incredible. Is James just worn into the ground the same way Duncan was in 2011?

Rewatching this game on NBATV right now. Weirdest end to a game in recent memory tbh. Piss poor coaching by Lue, D-Will continuing to decline before our eyes, waiting for the clock to wind out instead of continuing to score... and totally rigged reffing on top of it. LBJ picked up 3 phantom fouls at the end of regulation and OT, eventually fouling out on an over the back where he didn't even make contact. And in the final seconds of regulation, the refs called jumpball where two Hawks (Millsap and Bazemore) were involved. Bazemore was clearly out of bounds so I was thinking they were crediting Millsap with the tie up. And yet it was Bazemore who was awarded the jumpball... Just a weird game :lol

They're poorly coached and a lot of them are satisfied. Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye have nothing left to play for. JR Smith and Shumpert have rings and fat contracts. Not all of them are satisfied- I don't think LeBron is, and Kyrie and Kevin Love shouldn't be- but I do think the team in general is just complacent. They just don't look as if they give much of a shit. And aside from Kyle Korver, who's been injured, their in-season acquisitions haven't helped much. Bogut got hurt right out of the gate, Deron Williams has been awful and Derrick Williams has provided some energy and athleticism but can't get off the bench right now for some reason. That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

They shouldn't have any problems in the East, tbh..obviously due to the Lebron factor, but also by default, since this year's East is horrible at the top(improved dramatically in the middle and bottom, but weaker at the top, similar to the early 2000s)..

Wizards will give them the toughest challenge, but their defense is just as bad as the Cavs', and they don't have the volume shooting to shock them..none of the other East teams have the offense to exploit Cleveland's bad defense(Warriors will destroy them, though, especially when you consider last year's embarrassment)..
