This picture released by LifeGem, shows one of their creations: a diamond made from the ashes of cremated remains. LifeGem uses super-hot ovens to transform ashes to graphite and then presses the stone into blue and yellow diamonds that retail for anywhere from 2,700 to 20,000 USD.

There was an exceptional article about diamonds, and the diamond industry in National Geographic a few years ago, and a great article about synthetic diamonds here. (http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/11.09/diamond.html)

I didn't know you can make diamonds from remains. Now I know what to do with the bodies. No more stinky freezer for me.

Conceptually, you could also burn excrement into carbon and use that to create the diamond... so the next time you get in trouble, you can literally pull a diamond out of your ass. :lol
