As our Facebook feeds become saturated with video, the company is expanding its reach with more live sports. According to a report (https://www.wsj.com/articles/facebook-in-soccer-streaming-deal-with-mls-univision-1489122001) from The Wall Street Journal, Facebook has signed a deal with Major League Soccer and Univision that will allow it to live stream at least 22 regular-season games during the 2017 season. Facebook gains exclusive, English-language rights to these games that are typically only shown on Univision in Spanish. The first live-streamed game will feature Atlanta United hosting the Chicago Fire on March 18.

Nah, the "Please Watch Us" begging is reserved for soccer in the US. MLS ratings suck, EPL ratings suck, Men's national team ratings suck. Only time America "cares" is during the World Cup, watched more out of patriotism than anything else, like the Olympics.

:lol Soccer: the REAL fatball
:lol Baseball. Always. Wins.

Let's take a tally.

- The Skinnyfatball's crew first bullet in this debate was that baseball was an unathletic game populated by 90% fat people.

We've proven time after time that baseball players consistently reach higher in game speeds, that the average body fat percentage of a baseball player is around 12% (average body fat percentage of Brazilian soccer players, who are easily the most athletic players in the world, is about 14%), average vertical leap of MLB players is 28", roughly the same as NBA players, and that the face of their sport on the athletic side of things (Twinknaldo) is a pretty shitty athlete compared to even Prince Fielder :lol

- Their counter to this was "s-s-stamina! Calories burned"

Fair enough. But nothing about soccer's stamina and aerobic demands are impressive. Like I've said, they average about 3-5mph over 90 minutes with a break in between. That's walking speed. Just recently a 400lb sumo wrestler jogged 8 straight miles in a marathon, eventually finishing it (he had to walk though). If they want to talk about stamina, pick the fuckin' triathlon or something.

- Then they started posting about taking shits or something, which was shut down in one post.

Now I guess the new shtick is criticizing the MLB for making smart business deals :lol

One reason they fail is because none of their shticks are based in reality, while the baseball crew's, being smarter and wittier, are. TicTacTrot makes sense because 30% of the games actually end in a fucking tie. Floptrot makes sense because soccer players spend most of time trotting and one of the most infamous things in the sport is the diving.

They should just quit and target another sport.

Says the:

":madrun I hate baseball because there's not enough trotting around :madrun"

Americans have a tough time with soccer because it's a twink filled jogging game that ends in a tie 1/3rd of the time. And when it does, they load up the Nintendo and play Mario Party.

I was watching a documentary about some "developing" soccer nations a few years ago and Soccer wasn't even a popular sport in Asia. Both Western and Eastern...like 50-60 years ago.

What's interesting is Colonial and imperialistic nations like Britain and the US dictated the spread of their sports in Asia...

Yes they are.

Soccer spread in South America through British immigrant workers there. Brits pretty much spread all the big sports except basketball. Even baseball is a British game (no Splits, it's not a descendant of cricket). And American football is obviously a child of rugby.

Yep. Trending up.

Between FOX, FOX Deportes and FOX Sports GO, World Series Game 7 delivered a combined average of 40.9 million viewers. FOX Sports estimates that more than 75 million viewers tuned in to see all-or-part of the Cubs’ dramatic Game 7 victory on Wednesday night.

"But Cubs :cry."

Cavs vs. Warriors game 7 was backed by an even more famous American sports angle (Cleveland Curse), featured the two biggest stars in basketball, a 73 win team, and it still lost the ratings battle.

Also median age is a poor indicator of anything. Tastes change throughout life. You yourself went from liking baseball to "being enlightened" by a game that ends in a tie 30% of the time. Also, referencing national ratings is silly because baseball is driven by its regional presence, and it's "trending up" there:

http://oi65.tinypic.com/5pkf3c.jpg

Wednesday was a playoff bevy for sports fans with playoffs in both the NBA and NHL, and a great baseball game nationally, but in 14 of 24 markets, it was not hockey or basketball or even that Mets-Cubs that people were watching, but Major League Baseball on their local regional sports networks.

In a sign that baseball continues to be a regional phenomenon, from Cincinnati to Seattle, Boston to Tampa Bay, Baltimore to St. Louis, and more, it was regular season baseball games that crushed all comers in their respective markets over the NBA and NHL playoffs, as well as the nationally televised MLB game on ESPN.

You're the one cherry picking. Since when are Finals matches (in any sport) indicative of the health of the sport or league? If the Spurs don't make the NBA finals, I won't be watching them. You also neglect to mention that World Series games often go to head-to-head against NFL games.

There is no "trend." You're getting your data from national TV broadcasts. No one is going to watch the Mets vs. Dodgers on ESPN over their own team on an RSN.
