Russ did Pop in by eliminating the Nuggets. Guests have nothing to play for and are resting everyone tonight. So another meaningless game just when we needed a playoff-type of stakes for a team that's been sleepwalking and playing sloppy for weeks.

Flavourless game unless Kawhi and Parker drop 72pts and 8pts respectively.

with Portland sitting out so many players, this should be a snoozfest worst than against the Lakers.

Murray still out.

He's legitimately a big. He's just athletic and a terrific shooter so ppl like to think of him as a wing but he's not. He has a high ceiling as a big and that is the spot he has been playing while putting up a tremendously good rookie season IMO bc in reality very few bigs can really guard him.

I trust Pop with his development in this case. I prefer for Pop to find out quickly what a player can do best and fit him there to set up him to succeed right away than the meandering paths leading nowhere for certain he has taken with others.

Again, groin injuries are no joke. This off-season is huge for him. You don't want to jeopardize that work just for a couple of extra games this season.

Pretty obvious Pop was coaching him with the screen game...
Or the double teams and coming swarming defenses..It is going to be the play against the Spurs in the postseason: opponents will live with Aldridge and Parker dropping 30+/20+ respectively on them--that is if they can do it...

Kawhi could conceivably average a career high in Assists this postseason while see his scoring dropping from reg season..

It is pretty alarming how Kawhi gets no calls even against scrubs tbh. If that continues in the playoffs (which I assume it will) Kawhi is gonna continue to get frustrated. Also not pleased at how soft this team has looked the past few weeks (albeit they've had nothing to play for).

Spin this shit faggot

Hahahaha what?!?

2011 WCR1:

Parker: 20/5 on 46%
Conley: 14/6 on 40%

2013 WCF:

Parker: 25/10 on 53%
Conley: 15/6 on 38%

Parker absolutely decimated Conley by and large. For crying out loud, Conley is one of the worst shooting point guards there has been, and he can't even play good defense as evidenced by how easily Parker always scored on him.

He was all NBA second team from 2012-2014. That's hardly ten years ago. Yes, that was partly because Spurs had nobody else to place on the teams but can't deny he was still in his prime those years.

2011-2014

It's tough to say, his best years in terms of VORP were like from 2005-2009. And 3 of his 5 best PER/TS% years were from 06, 07, & 09. Other 2 VORP were 12/13 and TS% 11/13.

I think physically (for sure) , his best years were definitely in the mid-late 2000's. That's where he still had that quick burst, amazing ability to finish in the paint, and was extremely efficient. He was very good in the years you mentioned, but I don't know if those were his prime years as much as they were him sort of being the best offensive option with TD/Manu getting up there in age.

Physically his prime was definitely in the mid-2000s, but his overall game was at it's best from 2011 until 2014 imo. His decision-making and control of the offense and feel for the game was the best I'd ever seen from most any other PG.

Yea. He had a more mature game for sure at that point. One could probably argue either way, I know earlier on is when folks had him in the upper echelon of PG's with guys like Deron Williams/CP3 etc... He was a more "dominant" player earlier on. It's weird we haven't come out blitzing teams (aside from the Warriors which we ended up losing anyway lol)

This is a different team this year. It's not like previous years where we would just dominate and put teams away early. Idk what it is honestly. It seems like we've had so many close games and come from behind wins this season vs previous seasons.

What I do like is the resiliency with these guys who have the composure to come back when needed, or play a gritty/tight game and come out on top.

But before that yeah, it was great; our starters almost went toe-to-toe with the Blazers' scrubs. That second quarter was great. :downspin:The bad shooting spells will happen. Its inevitable that guys go cold. Davis and Forbes were off shooting and it's tough when they don't make shots bc that's their main thing. I was impressed the deep bench instead tried to get to the basket and were able to hang on despite the bad shooting. They made a lot of mistakes. Forbes was terrible, fouling a 3 pt shooter with the game on the line for example, TO the ball, etc. He's not going to be in that situation in the playoffs. Simmons in reality missed a catch at the end that he's very capable of making. Lee botched a wide open dunk or was fouled. They stayed in that game until the end though. Dedmon didn't have a good game for example. It's valuable for those guys to be in that situation and value possessions as well as feel some pressure and good for Pop to evaluate too.The starters are indeed the ones to worry about. This looked like the Lakers game but not as bad in terms of the hole the bench had to dig through. The Lakers one was really depressing but then Forbes and Patty were awful shooting in that game: 3-10 and 2-8respectively. It's my worry with Forbes. When that shot is off, there's nothing else he can do for you.Anyways, the real rotation guys don't care too much at this point and their main thing is to get some rhythm and stay healthy. The bench competes higher despite their limitations bc they are competing for a spot and to stay in the league pretty much. There's really no situation where they should be coasting ever at this point in their careers.

Fully on board with a major roster shakeup if they lose before the WCF..

Parker maybe still untouchable no matter, but you gotta look at moving Aldridge or Pau and Green (sad face) in a trade to acquire a starting PG (even 2nd tier ones like Bledose, or Hill, Holiday in FA etc).. I can't take anymore fools gold regular season teams getting shown up in the playoffs..

"Nothing to play for" posts after a late season loss usually come from mentally weak posters who can't think of anything intelligent to say. The GS loss was the straw that broke the camels back. The offense for the most part has been abysmal since. Losing a game with your A-squad against an opponents F-squad is embarrassing in itself but, when you couple that with a loss to the tanking Lakers at home when the A-squad put the Spurs in a 26 point hole is shockingly pathetic for a team with championship aspirations. While the Grizzlies may not beat the Spurs, they got the match up they wanted. The Grizz are playing with house money and they have enough talent to make the series far more interesting than a Spur's homer would like to admit.

Oh, and that Lakers loss is the reason the Spurs had nothing to play for.
