Give props where props are due. Guy's worked hard on that part of his game. Given Embiid's sample size is much smaller, LMA may have been arguably the best this year. Gobert and Green are DPOY candidates and LMA is right there with them.

Deserves an all-defense nod, tbh.

Word. I was not sure when he joined how much improvement he could make. But he certainly improved significantly over year one. Imagine if he would have had this mindset his whole career.

Small part of the equation but dude has been a better defender by the eye test.

Yeah so why are there still anti-LMA people on this board? Faggots.

Ehh, LMA might be with Gobert/Green in terms of rim protection, but that doesn't mean he's as close to as good of a defender as them. Green and Gobert are both excellent in the PnR and are far more mobile than LMA...with the way today's offenses are ran, this is arguably just as important as rim protection.
For PnR, Aldridge is in the 52nd percentile. Gobert is in the 84th, and Green is in the 86th percentile.
That being said, Aldridge has been great defensively this year. Would be nice to see him get 2nd team All-Defense honors.

Pretty sure he's ranked well in rim protection since his last season in Portland. He had comparable numbers to Duncan and better than Marc Gasol that year. Still odd that most don't consider him to be an even average defensive player, let alone great.

Spurs were allowing on 94 points per 100 possessions with Parker-Green-Leonard-Aldridge-and Dedmon, at last check. They can't score for shit but that Drtg is excellent with four above average defenders.

93.75% of LMA haters are Parker fans and just looking for someone else to blame.

Dunno about that. Tony makes LMA better. No reason for a Parker fan to hate him.

Spursfan: Spurs had another nice season. LMA improved and Leonard was a beast. Parker looks like he lost a step but he still fell into his role.
Parkerfan: Fuck you...Parker is fucking awesome. LMA sucks.

Most Parker haters must have had E. Longoria as their 'pretend' girl friend or are just hold overs from the Tony v Manu wars otherwise I don't get their fervor. The Kiwi fans vs the Parker fans makes more sense since Parker was the last dude and Kiwi is the dude. (Timmay doesn't count he is the institution.) I understand the boo this guy and chear my guy motivation, but in ST it is a boo this guy period, even when he was elite. If Kiwi were to leave tomorrow, all of those who hate on Tony because he hurts Kiwi would suddenly become LMA or Murray fans, singing the same song. Smells a little like a :trolljob. Back to LMAlpha it would be incredible if we could have 3 players on the all defense teams. (KingSlayer, Verde and LMAlpha). I am hoping Verde and LMA can sneak in 2nd or 3rd team.

Probably because he looks like he's mentally not all there or not fully committed at times. He's also still a bit too passive for some people's liking, imo.

In order to Ring, the Spurs will need Parker to average about 14 points a game and be reliable from the outside (because he's rarely successful driving anymore). Just think about that for a second and adjust your expectations for the playoffs. I'm as much a fan as anyone but I'm also a realist. I BELIEVE this team can win it all but it doesn't matter what I believe, it matters how the team plays. I wish this wasn't the case and I felt more confident about the Spurs' chances because I can't stand GS, specifically Curry and Raymond. Those dudes passed up Bron in terms of arrogance and fake humbleness (in Curry's case).

It's just his personality. He's a chill dude. So was Timmy. So is Kawhi.

Yeah the Parker v Manure wars never made sense.
Might as well be a Parker v Bowen fan war if we're comparing MVParker to role players lmfao

Anyone who actually watched SA regularly this year could tell you LMA has been one of our best and most consistent defenders tbh. And he often is paired with players who don't defend well (Gasol, Lee) and he still gets it done. Definitely having an underrated season defensively imo

This. Problem is reps & labels stick . Even spurs media have largely ignored the improvement.

Look, Gambitt is dumb 99% of the time but I agree with him here. LMA has had many interviews where he basically discusses that his confindence comes and goes. I think it's not simply a case of him being quiet, but he does have moments where mentally he struggles.

I have a lot of hope that during this regular season LMA worked into his defense and will now unleash his offense.
