It's one way to alleviate their anemic offense.
I'm not advocating Harden like Possessions for Kawhi, but no way should Parker and Aldridge be anywhere close to his usage%. Aldridge and Parker are neither threats. Teams allow them to do their thing making it impossible to generate any open shots for Green, Mills etc.
The reality is that, When his usage is pretty darn high the spurs do tend to shoot more 3 pointers. When he passess out of a pick and roll or Pop, there's better opportunities there to shoot three. Plus, he can shot the three himself. He just generates better openings for his team.
Basically, he's the only guy that makes defenses run for their men allowing for movement in the perimter.
I suspect PATFO knows hence why his possessions are more Pick and Roll instead of post ups despite him being a much dangerous scorer in the latter.
Not saying manu should play 25mpg...20 is about right, but when hes out there...Hes gotta have the ball more. Teams gotta be willing to take a few turovers to crank op the offense.
