This team has developed a bad pattern in the last few years: they follow up what seems like a series-controlling blowout with a dud the next game--all at home..

It happened vs the Heat in 2013 (G4), vs the Clippers in 2015 (G4), and last year vs OKC (G2). They eventually lost all three.

Time to go for the jugular and demoralize this Memphis team. This series has no business extending beyond 5 games. We can't afford a letdown here, especially with the Rockets looking like they will make a quick work of OKC.

What I liked about Game 1 was the fact that the Spurs were able to overcome a bad start and find their groove as the game went on.

I would be more nervous about game 2 if we had coasted to an easy win, leading the entire way. But what I'm hoping for is that the Spurs finally woke up from their long sleep that stretched from the end of the regular season and now have something to build on.

Just have to make sure Dedmon isn't a dud, Danny will get looks and as long as TP doesn't evaporate on offense SA should be fine especially if Manu contributes any points.

I'm sorry I know this is whining but I just can't give okc the win for last year - the Waiters BS call in game 2 and then the series of bad calls in game 5 in the last minute.

I never saw any of those as "series-controlling blowout's" because the teams were too evenly matched in all cases.

In '13, every game of the Finals played out how I predicted save for the ending of game 6. No one was winning 3 straight in a series like that, which is part of why the 2-3-2 format was insane.

In '15, I called it beforehand: http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=246853. The Spurs were on fumes from 3 straight deep runs, had 2 key injuries and the Clippers had too much riding on that series to lose in the 1st round.

In '16, I thought that series was more of a coin flip than the majority thought and it took about 2 minutes into 5 game for me to realize they were done.

Even with the 11th ranked defense and Leonard, Green, Splitter, playoff neophytes, '12 was the one I didn't see coming and was surprised by.
