It's on PC too. Pretty amazing how great 2017 has been for gaming and we're only four months in.
Game serves as softcore porn too if you're into that kinda thing. :lol

so, when you first face Adam and Adam in the sinkhole, are you actually expected to put up a coherent fight? I was just frantically mashing dodge and waiting for special attack to recharge, it was not fun.

I applaud the creativity, the focus on story, the efficiency (low budget game but felt very polished and was not short), I'll take something like this over AAA gaming every time.
would have been a pretty great game if the characters hadn't acted like emo teenagers.
and I don't quite get the logic on the bio-machine side, they were supposedly all networked and trying to evolve as fast as possible, yet they were always doing stupid shit as if they had been devolving or had just gained self awareness yesterday... and what was the relation of Adam to the AI? shouldn't they have been fighting for control of the machine network, but the game kept them narratively apart from each other.

Holy fuck, it must have taken me 40 minutes to kill this one little gold robot and gold tank in the desert. Right now this game feels somewhere between 9.5/10 and 10/10, not sure which yet. But it's amazing. I was dying at the showing of Romeo & Juliet at the amusement park. As of now it's looking like it might be my game of the year.

Damn, I'm going to have to buy Nier 1 for PS3 if that's the case.

And you weren't too sure if you should purchase a ps4 :lmao

But 9.5 for this game? Son...cmon

I was pretty sure about buying one once I saw God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn at E3 2016. NieR Automata is crazy good. It makes me laugh like hell and the shooter sections are really cool interludes between the open world sections.
EDIT 1: Upon further thought I think I'd lean more to 9/10 to 9.5/10, with 9.5 closer. I don't think I can call a game a 10 unless I like it as much as Bloodborne.
EDIT 2: Also, I'm not playing it on PS4. :lol

were you not hacking them? hacking is OP, there were times where I had no idea what was happening on the battlefield, couldn't even aim the camera right, but I held that hack button and he would hack someone, and they would explode, taking out others as well... ftw

I don't think I have gotten far enough in the game to hack. I remember 9S hacking the second boss I fought, but playing 2B I haven't done it yet. I'm guessing I won't be able to hack until I play as 9S?

yeah, only 9S can hack. I thought the gold dudes only appeared during 9S's story, glad I didn't have to fight them as 2B.

disappointed to discover that this is a full price game. I thought it was awesome as an indie game, was going to support the dev and buy it, but how can they seriously sell this as a $60 game? it had resolution and crashing problems and has never been patched, the map size/detail can't stand up to anything from the last 5+ years... the audacity!

Square Enix abandoned the PC version of the game once it got cracked, which sucks since it means you have to use a fan made mod to fix the resolution bug. I think most of the crashes come from that mod though. Most of the crashes seem to be fixed with newer versions of the FAR mod, but once it was cracked the developer of the mod added a piracy check so you're stuck on old versions without the check that are much less stable if you pirate the game.
The game itself is incredibly good IMO and a coin flip with Horizon Zero Dawn for best game of 2017, though I haven't played much of Breath of the Wild and none of Persona 5 (just bought that shit the other day and will play it next). Yoko Taro made this into a masterpiece after his first attempt (Nier on PS3) was supposed to be pretty disappointing. This game is easily a 9.5/10 IMO and has tremendous replay value with the different endings and different characters.

OMG I just beat Drakengard and it is fucking lunacy. Poor Angelus. I can't wait to see what NieR brings. I think I'm just going to buy every Yoko Taro game other than the rhythm based mobile ones. Even the ones that get horrible reviews like Drakengard 3.

I don't think any Yoko Taro game would ever get remade. For one they usually sell like crap and for two Yoko Taro basically said he'd never do a remake of a game. He got asked about remaking Nier and Drakengard for PS4 in a reddit AMA and said if he did a remake he would change everything.

Human Devola and Popola in NieR seem so weird to me after I got used to android Devola and Popola in NieR Automata, when I guess it should have been the other way around. But I would have never played NieR if it wasn't for how much I loved NieR Automata. I can't wait to see what the real Emil is like in NieR after only knowing him as the freak selling badass materials, looking for lunar tears, and blowing up the world in one of the endings of NieR Automata.

Man the original NieR is even moreso. The lead female character Kaine is in that style of lingerie with strategic cuts at the bottom to expose the tits.

For anyone who doesn't have this yet, Steam has it for $39 for PC and Gamestop has it for $35 for PS4. It's easily worth double either price point IMO.

Man the first NieR explains a lot of shit in NieR Automata, though if you play it first it'll spoil one of the big plot reveals in Automata. But it also explains my favorite ending in NieR Automata.

Son, you have become like the main ambasador for this game all thanks to me. :tu
I'm going to finally start playing this game starting tonight or from tomorrow on. I got a lot of shit off my list so I have room to start playing new games.
Was waiting for my bro to finish Horizon but he's still hugging it so I think I will have to rebuy that one.

Dude I wasn't excited about the game at all from the demo you told me about tbh. CPY is what got me excited about the game. I pirated and played it for a couple of hours and then went and bought it after liking the first two hours so much. I'm glad I bought it too since the canonical ending is almost impossible to get on the pirated copy. When you play Automata don't think the game is over once you get the A ending like most people do. That part of the game is really good but it gets much better later.
If you still have a PS3, the first NieR is highly worth playing IMO. It's not as good as NieR Automata by stretch, but is still a very memorable game IMO. The gaming press pretty much shit all over NieR but I think this is a fair review of it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6OXbqTbtHs
If you play the first NieR you don't have to play the first Drakengard. Just watch the video below to see Ending E which sets into motion the events of NieR (notice how the enemy and the dragon turn into salt at the end, which is called white chlorination syndrome in NieR).

And man I want to buy Drakengard 3 to get the backstory for Drakengard 1, but it has $41 worth of DLC that NieR fans tell me is pretty critical. I can't imagine spending $61 for a used copy of Drakengard 3 from Gamestop and some DLC. But I'll still buy it anyways. It feels ridiculous to pay so much for a not hard to find game that sold poorly and got destroyed by reviewers, though reviewers also hated the first NieR.
Damn if only I could read Japanese since Yoko Taro wrote some manga that explains what happened between the games. The timeline in the NieR universe goes from Drakengard 3 -> Drakengard 1 -> NieR -> NieR Automata, with Drakengard 2 taking place in a parallel universe from NieR and NieR Automata (NieR follows from Ending E of Drakengard 1 while Drakengard 2 follows from Ending A of Drakengard 1).

LOL you have to be a Geometry Wars god to get Ending E without connecting to the network. I saw a video of someone doing it and it was an hour and a half or two hours of bullet hell. I remember thinking it was the coolest credit sequence ever until I got to the Square Enix line, which is where it starts getting really hard. I tried to beat that shit on my own for about 45 minutes until I finally accepted help. :lol
