You're crazy lol. He went to the finals with Moe Williams as the second best player. Yes they got swept by the Spurs. I'm just saying there's no way he's better than him right now, LeBron is going to go down as a top 3 player ever. Let's see what Kawhi will do I'm rooting for him.
How will it ever be a fair comparison? Kawhi will never join two stars in their primes, if he did I bet he'd win more than 2 rings. (Should've been 1)
It's gotta be emasculating for the players to have Pop pull some shit like that in a playoff game. I too can't get over how egotistical that move was. Mind blowing honestly.

I doubt Pop will can Manu entirely but he's gone scoreless 3 games now and Simmons, Murray and Kyle have all scored, Bertans has scored. Etc.
It's obvious that Spurs need Tony to play well too, and they probably need some of these young players too.

Wasnt just the defense. Everybody not named Kawhi shit the bed tonight. Just did not show up focused whatsoever. This game was lost befor it started. Time to regroup and that was back in game four.
It wasn't just the defense but they can't allow 2 quarters of the Grizzlies making 60+ % of their shots. Defense was key in winning the first 2 games and it has been the key to the Spurs success this season.

Blame Pop for having the so-called best bench in the league and utilizing them? The bench only lost 6 points on the deficit during that 3rd quarter span. The starters came back and completely shit the bed offensively and defensively. I don't think you can blame Pop because the team didn't come to play.

Kawhi deserves some blame for his passiveness in the second half. That's when a guy like him has to make himself present, to prevent the lead from ballooning. If anyone showed fight in the second half it was LMA.

Nobody wins it by themselves. Kawhi needs to get a legit sidekick but he's young so he has a lot of time to make his case I'm just saying Kawhi needs to become more of a vocal leader and a better playmaker because LeBron is light years better than him in those categories but he's improving, he has some more work to do.

First, yes you can blame Pop for the team coming out flat. He can't get credit for "I want some nasty" but no blame for "I didn't mean that kind of nasty."
Second, you can blame Pop for going to a bench that hadn't played well all game just because they had two TOs. I though he was going to bench Dedmon only for that shit. But nope. Whole team, including the only two players who had shown anything up to that point.

9 point deficit to 15 point deficit is a big fucking deal. Spot them another 6 points for what, so he can stroke his ego? I don't care how good the bench is, they aren't going to go toe-to-toe with a playoff teams starting line-up. Especially without a productive Manu.

We headed into the season with a guard rotation that was questionable at best, and Pop chose not to develop Dijon.
Pop's only move was to commit to develop Simmons, who IMO is the worst prospect of the foursome of Simmons/Anderson/Murray/Bertans.
Maybe he did that bc he's in a contract year and he must know whether he must be reupped or not, whereas the others are younger and under contract for cheap for more seasons, but it was a bad call.
At this point, Simmons shaky play is more than Manu has given in the series and Murray's 7 minutes were better than the 18 than Tony gave.

I would say it this way: If none of the guards play well, we are in big trouble. If 1 plays well, we have a puncher's chance - as long as the front court plays up to par. If 2 play well, then we can compete with the best teams, even the Dubs.

Simmons was the most athletic, which is paradoxical because it is not the most athletic guy who generates Pop's interest. Frankly, with Manu so obviously done, Simmons may now get a few meaningful minutes in this series - for better or worse. Kyle showed me something tonight. His first stint went poorly. But he had the mental toughness to come back in late and play with confidence. He was pretty loose - almost like the old summer league days. This may jump start him for next season - if not these playoffs.

I don't know how you can be so cavalier about it.
If Simmons was a scrub, so was Manu, and Tony this game, and a few others and I am not even that hot on Simmons.
That was exactly how I said the Grizzlies could beat the Spurs. Play very physical, ugly the game up, and figure that the zebras can't call them all. It didn't help that the Spurs missed a BUNCH of shots they should have made, and missed 12 damn FT's.
That inbounds play at the beginning of the second half. Looked to me like that ball was supposed to go to Kawhi, and he just got pancaked on the end line. That was the beginning of an avalanche. I thought the refs reacted to Fizdale and the crowd several times tonight, but I now that Memphis got it's "makeup game", I don't expect it to happen next game.
A lot of things had to fall together just right for this night to happen.

Simmons tied for the AST lead tonight, had no TO's, and was 2-3 from 3P. If the Spurs could get that from him every night, it would improve their chances this postseason considerably. He sure as hell wasn't any of the problem tonight.
We really need some of those flashes of greatness from Manu. He hasn't shown any signs so far, and that's a damn shame. He's still got the will, but it's really looking like he can't keep up with the young guys now.

If anything.... I know guys are pissed off that Pop put the bench in, but he was getting nothing from either Manu or TP, and Manu for 3 games in a row is not showing signs of life.
It will be shocking if mid-playoffs Pop needs to move on and play any combination of these guys more, but I sure am glad Simmons, Anderson, Bertans and Murray took advantage of the chance they got and played well to end that game. They didn't fold over and play dead fish out of the water.

One doesn't know where this playoff run will finish but I was encouraged by their play. They actually even moved the ball better as a group and looked for each other better than the starters... even though on defense they made mistakes.

What I keep asking myself is if the refs are that easy to manipulate, or they just actually give make up games.
The crowd was pretty pumped from the start and had even some type of merch with quotes of Fiz's rant. They were booing hard every call the Spurs got. Memphis players seem to protest everything as well.
All of a sudden Zbo goes back in time. I wonder if in a regular game he would have gotten a couple of 3 second violations or traveling calls for his great amount of footwork tonight.
And they can make and-1s every play? :lol

Manu should have retired last year. However, he's not a starter and an outlier these days. Less pressure on him to perform.
Parker is still starting and the success of the Spurs is still tied heavily to how he plays because Pop is still starting him and playing him 25 minutes a night.
I'd prefer Manu retire this off-season and Parker retire next offseason. Both have more bad games than good. Can't rely on either against better competition.

Probably true, but I'm not throwing the dirt on either yet.
1. TP has had more good games in these playoffs than bad.
2. While Manu has been bad, the first two games he contributed in many ways other than scoring. Last game he was just flat out awful. However, Manu is very match up dependent and we knew that he struggled badly vs MEM. HOU should be a much better match up and I expect Manu to look much better vs them.
If TP just derails and stops having good games and Manu never bounces back vs better match ups, then I will agree.

1. True, but how much can we go off that based on just three games?
The past 3 playoff runs, hell the past three seasons..Tony has had more bad regular seasin games and bad playoff games than good. Three game sample, as you know, is very small. Manu likely wont continue his horrible play and he'll progress to his marginal mean. And based on recent history, Parker wont have 2 good games for every bad one. Parker was bound to regress after his first two games and I wouldn't be surprised if its the same story with him game 4.
Parker better produce whatever good games he can while he can, before Pat Bev checkd him into the hospice facility next weekend. Kidding aside, hes had a great career, but TP is no longer consistent enough to be an important piece. Even if his play after 2 good games so far may suggest hes more consistent than im implying...I know better.
