Is this worth watching? Watched the first episode and it was pretty good.

I've heard good things, but the little I've watched/heard of it sounds pretentious as hell. They claim all the dialogue on the show is written in iambic pentameter and other Shakespearian bullshit, when really it just sounds like a bunch of dudes saying "fuck" a lot.

Yeah...I definitely noticed that. And there's been so many great shows lately that the acting...to me...seemed pretty average. I was trying to decide between this and Boardwalk Empire which I watched one episode of. I May just end up finding another crime series on Netflix. Although I'm getting close to burned out on them.
Really good but HBO inexplicably cancelled it so you'll end up feeling unsatisfied at the end. Still worth the watch, imo.

I watched the 1st season and enjoyed it, but I couldn't sustain the enthusiasm after hearing it was cancelled without a proper ending, tbh..seemed pointless to continue it..
Loved seeing Al Swearengen in GOT, though..

Good enough. Thanks. I'll give it a few more and see if it takes. I like a good western story.

Yeah...that bothers me too. Knowing that it gets cancelled. It's why I have such a hard time starting Walking Dead. Because all I hear now is that it sucks.

It was really good. My one gripe is that the storyline got too complicated and convoluted in the third season. They spent a lot of time focusing on minor characters you cared nothing about. Other than that and the unexplained ending, it's probably the best small-screen western ever made (unless you count mini series, in which case nothing touches Lonesome Dove).
They did a good job blending historical events/people with fictional ones, and I love idea behind the series - how civilization forms out of chaos. The language is either something you'll like or it'll bother you. The showrunner did try to make it sound poetic at times, but the reason behind the frequent modern cussing was that 19th century cussing would've sounded silly and wouldn't have had the same impact. This was an illegal mining camp in the middle of Native American territory, there were some seedy dudes there.
I recommend watching it even though it ends abruptly.
Bend over, I'll show you
wait, no

Count me in the Deadwood is fuckin' brilliant camp. And you don't have to be a San Francisco Cock-sucker to enjoy it.

Did you watch The Fall yet? Premium stuff there.

There is no fourth. At least for now.
The British take like 3 years between seasons. Drives me nuts.
Sherlock Holmes has like 3 seasons that amounts to less than 14 episodes spread over 7 years.

Shit, that's good to know. Someone I work with was telling me saw a fourth series. We were talking about the show and she was describing some scene I didn't remember. It ended with the two on the phone right?
Yeah on the British series. They're so well done though. I've watched several random detective series and they were all good.
Did you see that spy show with Melissa George? It was very good. Can't remember the name. Looked it up. The Hunted.

No that would be, "Pedwood".
Lmao. Thanks for the tee up.

Not at all.
Season 3 concludes the Specter's storyline and it doesn't end on any sort of speaking terms between the two main characters. lol

Shit. Maybe I just watched two seasons. I watched everything available about a year ago. That would explain why I didn't know what my coworker was talking about.

He's gonna be in American Gods as a lead, and it looks good.

Is there a novelization of this series? I'd rather just read that.

The fact that it never had a proper ending is a tragedy. It's up there as one of my favorite shows, and Al Swearengen might be one of the GOAT television characters, imho.

One of the GOAT shows to me even with the cancellation and unresolved ending.

Main reason why I never touched this series despite wanting to.
Probably a show you watch while it was airing. It's hard picking it up now knowing you get no payoff.
Reminds me of the Hannibal series. Damn good but the ending is a cliffhanger that leaves characters all over the place. Alive and not.
