With videos that don't have that many views?

Same with Trevor Noah and Samantha Bee. Agenda-driven algorithm?

They get a lot of views in a short period of time (usually the day they were uploaded)... hence they are trending.

YouTube curates content for its trending page based on a combination of recent views, channel reputation and topical recency. It has taken steps to, as much as possible and particularly due to recent issues, avoid amplifying videos that advertisers would want to distance themselves from for any number of reasons (obscenity, poor quality, extreme politics, etc.)

So late night shows, which create a ton of digital video about current topics that also receive a ton of impressions and can be trusted to be brand-safe for advertisers, are natural fits for the Trending page. Which is why you also often see Fallon, Kimmel, and Corden videos trending.

Or, they're pushing liberal views because people are idiots and are going to base their worldview on YouTube clips of Late Night TV shows.
