What'd they say?

They called them out for not getting back to their seats in time coming back from half-time. They said that the players rely on their energy. Those concession lines are LONG and people are DUMB. Blame the system not the fans imo...

It was before the 3rd quarter started. 90% of the lower bowl was empty and Bill said Spurs fan don't understand how big this game is to the season and should be seated. Sean was agreeing.

You don't see empty seats for a playoff game anywhere else in the league. Sad, wish we had the spirit like okc/gs fans

cjw
04-26-2017, 12:32 AM
People in those seats aren't even using the same general concessions most of the time. No excuse.

I learned my lesson two years ago at game 7 of Rangers-Lightining. Beer stops when puck drops in the third period and game was 0-0. Missed getting back to my seat by seconds and the usher kept us there until the first stoppage. First stoppage turned out to be a Lightining goal and MSG felt like a funeral afterwards.

Regular season, whatever. Playoffs are a different beast.

Too many Spurs fans don't remember not having a post season.

Also, post season fans are often casual fans with nothing else to do.

Oddly the Spurs went up by 18 but then the fans showed up and they lost all but about 5 of the points. :lol

The fan base cares more about food, booze & networking than a playoff game.

It's pathetic. When I go, if I need to use the restroom or get food its always 5 minutes before halftime.

The fans were pumped up tonight. Reminded me of June 15, 2014. Fans sitting in the middle sideline seats have access to a different food and booze bar. Probably takes longer to get served or they're just a bunch of fair weather fans there with corporate tickets. Otherwise the crowd was great.

What I thought was weird was a lot of people leaving when we were up big in the last 4 minutes. A big exodus....I've never got that. Especially an important game like tonight.

I don't know if fans trully does provide the players with energy, but if they do, the Spurs will need it. Houston and GSW requires intensity.

Both teams can go on a 11-0 run in 2 minutes. Usually the front lower seats are empty till the 9th minute mark of the 1st and 3rd quarters.

Teams can easily go on a run in that span.

Years ago the Spurs decided (or were forced into) a financial model that basically targeted corporate ticket holders over average fans. We don't know all the financial ramifications of the extraordinary salaries these players get and the fixed costs, but apparently they determined they couldn't sell enough tickets to individuals while corporations could write the tickets off, give them to customers, etc. But you can bet that all those empty seats at games are probably the corporate seats which aren't given away and don't belong to fans. I wish we could get back to the days when there was a real live Spurs fanbase that could go to the Arena and enjoy the games.

Add $20 to the price of every ticket and then when each person comes in with their ticket, give them $20 cash. If someone received a ticket for free they're more likely to show up to get the money. Plus people now have extra cash to spend at the concession stands!

It's the only way it could work. It might still be hard for them to keep up with it though. I'd sure like to have a friend that was distributing them.
I suppose they could link the credit to each ticket's bar code. So you'd use your credits with your actual ticket. As opposed to someone handing them out.

When I was younger, nosebleeds we're ok. As an adult, I hate feeling like a sardine that is one wrong step from tumbling to my death. No thanks I'll watch at home.

A few years back, I was given nosebleeds and the section I was in won free taquitos from Whataburger. You wouldve thought they were giving away $100 dollar bills the way people were falling over each other and screaming at the people handing them out that they hadn't gotten theirs yet. Embarrassing :lol

I'm not sure food and drinks do the trick, people might get angry that they're basically forced to buy something they may not want.

If you build some high-security cages (like cashier's cages at casinos) right by the entrance then $20 bills might work after all. Scan your ticket to get in, pass by the cage, scan your ticket again, get your $20, be on your way. The digital infrastructure should already be there.

lol raising ticket prices for Anderson and David Lee. KL is the only reason to watch. That's no lie. I shit you not, I was more interested in watching Westbrook choke away another series than watching the Spurs win last night. I mean, Gasol, Lee, Bertans? Seriously?

Do other arenas have music being pumped out when the home team is on offense? It's just odd and distracting. I don't know if this is the case in games being played in other NBA arenas. I should pay more attention. But I was watching the Bulls-Celtics game tonight and they didn't have the music because the crowd was already loud enough. I like Prince and all but save it for timeouts or the half time, not when Kawhi is running the pick and roll.

I've complained about this before. It's a reason I believe the crowd is so weak. Why cheer when the music is doing all the work for you. It's so loud you can hear it blasting though the tv speakers on every...damn... possession. It's pathetic.
